Great Chapter!!!! Please please please please please please please please come back and post more really really really really soon? I can't wait to read what will happen next for Max and Liz. I'm glad that Max got Liz to eat her breakfast. Hopefully Max will being something for Liz. I can understand why Liz doesn't want to do a civil suite to Maria and Amy. I'm glad that the sheriff is letting Max stay while Liz gives her statement.

Great part! If Sean is going to be prosecuted, I don't know why Maria and her mom have to pay for him; Working for the money to pay back for what he did should be a punishment, as well as giving all his money...

Carolyn Yes a civil suite would be interesting. Yes sheriff Valenti is on the case!

L-J-L 76 Max did get Liz to eat some of her breakfast.(As someone who has had hospital oatmeal it is really bad.) Liz would like to do a civil suite, but the fact that he has no money she won't risk the possibility that Amy and Maria would have to cover the payment.

Eve Sean is facing criminal charges right now. If found guilty he will go to prison. But a civil suite is different. That is done to try and get payment for a loss or pain and suffering. Liz is concerned that because Sean has no money, that the court could rule his family would have to pay any money she would be awarded. She doesn't blame Amy or Maria for what Sean did so she doesn't want that to happen.



Part 23

Liz remained in the hospital for three more days. Max had to return to school. But promised Liz that he would be back on Friday night so he could drive her back to school the next weekend. Friday afternoon Liz was sitting in a booth in the Crashdown when Max walked through the door. She broke into a huge smile seeing him. She stood up and Max made his way across the diner to her and pulled her into a big hug. Liz pulled his head down and gave him a long and passionate kiss. Neither noticed Maria until she poured ice down Max's shirt causing him to pull away and jump. Liz let out a laugh at her friend's actions.

"What? You were getting a little to hot Evans." Said Maria
"Good to see you Maria." Said Max
"You make sure you take care of my friend."
"You know I will."
"Good."
"Max come on upstairs there is someone I want you to meet." Said Liz
"Who?" Asked Max
"Grandma Claudia. She's my dad's mom. She is really great."
"Well then I can't wait to meet her."

Max followed Liz up to the apartment. He saw an older woman sitting on the sofa looking through a photo album.

"Grandma, I want to meet someone." Said Liz

The woman turned and smiled.

"Hello young man." Said the woman
"Grandma this is Max Evans my boyfriend. Max meet Claudia Parker." Said Liz
"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Parker." Said Max
"Max, if you are the one that has put that spark in my granddaughter's eyes then it's grandma." Said Claudia
"If I were you, I would listen to her Max. She likes to get her way." Said Liz
"OK grandma." Said Max
"Honey bear this one is a keeper. Don't let him go." Said Claudia
"Yeah I know. I have been following that advice you gave me a long time ago." Said Liz
"What advice was that?" Asked Claudia with a knowing smile.
"To follow my heart." Said Liz
"Max, I told Liz that when she was fourteen. I have always wanted what is best for her."
"Liz is a very special young woman." Said Max
"Yes she is."

Just then Nancy walked in and smiled at Max.

"It's nice to see you Max." Said Nancy
"You too Mrs. Parker." Said Max
"Max, Liz's father and I talked and rather then have you sleep out here on the couch we decided to let you spend the night with Liz in her room. But no sex. She hasn't recovered enough." Said Nancy
"Mrs. Parker, I know Liz is still recovering. I would do nothing to harm Liz." Said Max
"I know. You were lucky last week when you when after Sean when he broke in and attacked Liz. You could have been hurt worse then the cut on your arm." Said Nancy
"Mrs. Parker, I will do whatever I have to, to keep Liz safe. I love her."

Nancy looked at her daughter who was smiling but not surprised by the young man's statement. She then looked into Liz's eyes and saw that she was in love with him.

"Max, come on let's put your bag in my room." Said Liz

Max followed Liz to her room. Claudia looked at her daughter in law and wondered what had change in the woman.

"You sure that letting them share a room is a good idea Nancy?" Asked Claudia
"Claudia, as much as I hate to admit it Liz isn't a child any more. The fact is I have never seen her as happy as she is when Max is around. She even got his name tattooed on her back."
"Well Jeffrey, couldn't get upset about that. He has a couple tattoos himself."
"True."
"He seems like a nice young man."
"Yes, he does."

Thanks for the explanation! And I understand why they don't want Sean to pay, because he certainly couldn't and at the end, Maria and her mom would have too!

But forced work with little money could be the solution for Sean, no?

Carolyn Yes things are changing in the Parker home. Jeff and Nancy realize that Liz is no longer the scared little girl they took into their home and hearts so long ago. They both also realize that Max is willing to do anything to protect their daughter.

Eve Well before Sean could get any kind of job he will have to do his time in prison. So maybe by the time Liz and Max's kids are in college or getting married Liz would see money from him. He will be spending most like around 20 years or more in prison!

Part 24

The weekend pasted fast and Sunday afternoon Max loaded their bags into the jeep and watched as Liz said goodbye to her parents, grandmother and Maria. Then he helped her into the jeep. Jeff gave them drinks for the ride back. Max got in and started the drive back to Las Cruces. It would take a little over three hours to make the drive if they when straight through. But Max was planning to make at least one stop so that Liz could get out and stretch.

"Max?"
"Yeah Liz?"
"You have been kind of quite today."
"Serena and Carolyn told me that you had been having nightmares about Sean coming after you. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want you to worry."
"Liz, I will always worry. I love you and I want nothing more then for you to be safe."
"I'm sorry. But I knew you would try to protect me if I told you. Besides they were just dreams. I didn't really think that anything would happen."
"I understand that. But look at it this way. Your dreams were telling you what your subconscious was seeing. Sean was in the shadows watching you. Planning when to make his move. His mistake was to make it at your parents home, where they were just down the hall and I was across the hall from you."
"I am sorry I didn't tell you, and that you got hurt because of it."
"I was never upset about it. I was more hurt that you didn't trust me to tell me. Liz promise me that you won't keep something like that from me again. Even if it really is nothing I would rather be safe then see you hurt again."
"Max, I promise that I will never keep anything that could be a danger to me from you again."
"Good. I know that you will keep things from me from time to time. I just asked that it not be anything that dangerous."
"I promise Max. Do you want me to put it in blood?"
"No Liz, you don't have to do that. I trust you."
"Good. Max, in about three exits is a really good place to get pizza. Real small mom and pop type place. My dad knows the owner. Let's stop there to get a bite to eat."
"Sounds good."

Max pulled off at the exit Liz told him and followed her detections to the small pizza place. The sign read Gino's pizza. Max parked and helped Liz out of the jeep. They walked in to find a man with about Liz's father's age. He smiled ran over to Liz and pulled her into a big hug.

"You can't be my little bambina. You are no little girl! You a lovely woman!"
"Hi Gino. It's been a long time." Said Liz
"Too long Liz. Who is this young man with you?"
"Gino, this is my boyfriend, Max Evans. Max this is Gino, one of dad's oldest friends." Said Liz
"You taking good care of this young lady?" Asked Gino
"Yes sir." Said Max
"Good! You want a pizza yes?"
"Yes Gino. We are on our way back to school. But we are going to eat it here." Said Liz
"Good just tell me what you want on it!"

Gino sat them at a table and took the order for the pizza and drinks. It was nearly an hour and half later they were back on the road heading for Liz's apartment.

Max parked the jeep in front of the apartment building. Liz was sound asleep next to him. He didn't want to wake her knowing that she needed her sleep. He climbed out of the jeep made his way around to the passenger side opened the door and unbuckled her seat belt. He then lifted her into his arms and was about to close the door when Serena and Kyle came up coming home from a date.

"Hey Max." Said Kyle
"Hey Kyle can you grab her bag? Oh and there is a pizza in there too. Well there are two. The one on top is for the girls." Said Max

Serena took a look at the pizza box and grinned.

"You stopped at Gino's?" Asked Serena
"Yeah. Liz's idea. Don't worry Kyle the other pizza is for us." Said Max
"Cool." Said Kyle

Kyle grabbed Liz's bag and Serena took the pizza and they headed up to the apartment. Max carried Liz right to her room and placed her on the bed. He removed her shoes and tucked her in. He placed a kiss on her forehead. She stired a little.

"Max stay with me?" Mumbled Liz
"Tell you what. Let me run home real quick get a change of clothes, and I will be right back."
"You have a change of clothes here."
"OK then let me run that pizza over to Michael."
"Ok but you better come back."
"I promise sweetie."
