I looked at the one called Kyle, wondering about the conclusions he was jumping to. Of course, he's not one of the aliens. I fully expected one of the humans, from the profiles I was expecting it to be Maria, but one of them to insist that as humans they'd be safe ... but I guess their connections to their alien friends is very strong.
"I'm not sure how I would compare the danger now to a thousand years ago. I wasn't there." I tell them. "But back then, they were hidden. Nobody knew who they were until the FBI heard from Sheriff Valenti. Now ... probably half the people in the country know your names and a few of them even know your faces. If you go out there, you'll be known, especially if you're gasping at how much thing cost compared to a thousand years ago, or staring at the cars and all. You all need new identities and training so you can get around like normal people."

Serena:
Looking at Antiono...I couldn't let him explain all of this on his own...these kids had to know that we were both on there side...so I stepped forward and started speak. " We are here to help you...all of you. We want to give you the benefit of the doubt--and see you live in this world as normally as possible. But you have to trust us. Once the trainning and your old identies are slated clean--your new lives will start and you'll be set out into the world. But only until then is that to happen. We are on your side--Max do you believe and trust what we are telling you?" I asked him as I returned to Dr. Antionos side.
Alex:
I believed her words...and that she was telling everyone the truth... I returned my attention to Isabel..and I took her hand in mine...she smiled then we both turned are attention to Max for his response.

"...and what exactly do you mean by it's hard to keep a secret for a thousand years?" Kyle adds to my inquiry.
"What I mean," Antonio says. "Is that the general populace gradually became fully aware that aliens were real. Most people didn't believe it at first, but over a few decades it was pretty common knowledge. The general feeling about this varied as time went on. Sometimes people hated the idea of the others out there, other times, they were anxious to meet them."
Max nods, "We've seen some of that ourselves. Movies where aliens are evil invaders, and then a few years later they're all gentle explorers."
"Uh, right. That's it," Antonio says and to me he looks uncomfortable and I have a feeling there is more to it. "Later, it became known that the government had frozen aliens hidden in the FBI laboratories."
"From what you're saying Antonio, it seems to me that the world is no more or less reluctant to embrace aliens now, than they were back where we are from." Kyle interjects an explanation. "There will always be those who are curious and eager to meet extraterrestrial and others who want no part of them and would rather destroy them than try to understand them."
"So my question is, why are we in more danger now than we were 1000 years ago?" Kyle adds his question, and I have to admit that he seems to be thinking a great deal more then I had imagined he was capable.
"I'm not sure how I would compare the danger now to a thousand years ago. I wasn't there." Antonio replies, only to add, "But back then, they were hidden. Nobody knew who they were until the FBI heard from Sheriff Valenti. Now ... probably half the people in the country know your names and a few of them even know your faces. We are on your side--Max do you believe and trust what we are telling you?" I hear Serena's reply and turn to look at Max before I decide to step into this.
"So, you are telling us that we are to be kept here until we have conformed to the ways so we can try to 'fit' in with the humans again? And you both expect us to believe that you want nothing in return for your oh so generous 'help'?" I roll my eyes, "Maxwell, you can't possibly believe that things are that cut and dry." I say as I wrap my arms around Maria and turn to see that Isabel seems to have a similar expression. I also see that she seems to be letting herself gain comfort from Alex with a little more ease but I'm sure that she'll be breaking his heart again soon.

I nod at Michael's question, looking at Antonio. "I don't think it would take all that long to adapt," I say, keeping my voice level looking at him steadily. We -- Michael, Isabel and I -- adapted very quickly to being like humans the first time. I'm sure we could do it again.
"Michael does have a point, 'though. What is it that you're wanting from us in exchange?"
Antonio seemed to tense at the question. He seemed almost embarrassed. "We've taken enough from you, already," he said, shaking his head. "A thousand years of your lives, your families, your world. We owe this to you and a lot more."

Alex takes hold of my hand and that sign of comfort causes me to smile slightly before looking at the others, wanting to hear answers. I don't like this, not one bit. "I don't think it would take all that long to adapt," Max replies and I simply nod in agreement. Though what he says next is what I really want answers to. "Michael does have a point, 'though. What is it that you're wanting from us in exchange?"
Antonio tensed it seemed, but I didn't feel any sympathy for the man at all. "We've taken enough from you, already," the guy says, shaking his head. "A thousand years of your lives, your families, your world. We owe this to you and a lot more."
I had remained silent, but now I shook my head and spoke, "Look, those are really pretty words and all. Quite frankly if we hadn't been through hell and back, we might be quick to believe them. However, you yourself weren't responsible for what happened to us. So, why the hell would you feel that you need to make things up to us? And, how do we know that in some ways you aren't simply trying to manipulate us? What proof is there that can show us what has happened out there?"
Having questioned a few things enough, I sigh and simply lean back in my seat, waiting for the answers.

OOC: I know I'm playing catch up, not really sure what to have her say, but I'm hoping that this works...
~Liz~
As we all gather in the room, I don't know quite what to expect from Antonio and Serena. They say they are friends, and I want to believe them, but really, other than the fact that they haven't tried to kill us right now, what proof do we have of what they say. We have flying cars and strange buildings which go with the supposed time, and we have what little they have told us... If they're going to convince me, they're going to have to give a whole lot more information, and answer a few questions of our own.
I look up at Max, watching him, wondering silently what will come next, yet knowing that whatever it is, I can face it with him. It's only a moment, as the others file in, before my attention is focused back on Antonio though, and I watch him carefully as he continues to talk about telling us, without actually getting to that. After a request from Max to get on with it though, he finally gets moving and a presentation begins, Antonio providing the commentary as he explains what happened to us. It seems quite unblievable, I didn't even know the technology existed to do that at the time, and yet, it seems, the evidence is right there in front of us that it did indeed happen. A lack of knowledge might explain the problem with 'unfreezing' too I guess....
"...it's hard to keep a secret for a thousand years..."
Michael's getting impatient by then, as is Kyle and as they tells Antonio to get on with it, I remain silent, although I echo their sentiments. It's as though he wants to produce maximum effect. Well if that's the case, he's getting it... I'm certain he has the full attention of every person in this room - with the exception of Serena perhaps - and rapt attention at that. We all just want to know what is going on... We need information, before we can decide our next move.
Serena herself seems excited enough though, and I somehow get the feeling that she's not liking this little show and tell...
Antonio doesn't seem that interested at the moment though, and he turns to answer our questions finally. As what he's saying sinks in, I feel a little stunned at first, although I guess it does make sense. How much longer would the government have been able to cover up things - not too long it seems. The reaction makes sense too, and as Max points out, it's much the same as in the movies, fiction they might be, but they're an indication of how fickle we humans are... One minute someone is a friend, the next an enemy...and really, it's all just dependant on the way we look at things...
As he speaks now about what had happened to us, and the public finiding out, I feel my chest tighen, and I can't help wondering what the initial plans for us had been...nothing good I'm sure...
Kyle seems to put it well when he points out that there are always extremists on both sides and then goes straight to the point, asking whether we are safer, or in more danger than we were in the past. I give a small smile as I hear him refering to the group of us as one, and I know, despite the fact that we're not all the same, some are aliens, some fully human (as far as we know...) and Kyle and I...well, that's anyone's guess... The important thing is that we have each other though. We're a group, and we should stick together in this. Antonio's comments about not knowing what it was like are true... The eight of us standing here are the only ones who can truely relate to what it was like, and what we all went through...both together and alone...
All this talk of training, and new identities really makes a point though, as I think about just how different everything will be. Prices, equipment, anything...it's all going to be a thousand years in advance of that which we grew up with... All unfamiliar, all new...
"And you both expect us to believe that you want nothing in return for your oh so generous 'help'? Maxwell, you can't possibly believe that things are that cut and dry."
Michael's voice cuts into my thoughts, voicing his doubts, and Max voices the question which has to follow. 'What do they want...?'
Antonio insists nothing, giving some guilt statement, but Isabel appears to want more proof, and I have to say I agree. More and more, I feel a want to believe Serena and Antonio, but then there's a part of me warning that this could just be one big lie, a clever one granted, but a lie non-the-less. I don't know what the purpose would be, but it wouldn't be anything good I'm sure... I nod in response to Isabel's question. "Pictures are all very well, but they could be manipulated easy enough in our own time never mind yours..." I point out, although I'm not really sure what could conclusively prove what we're being told. Perhaps in the end it's going to come down to trusting them, but surely they will understand that after everything that's happened, we might be a little reluctant to do that...

"No, I'm not personally responsible for what happened to you then, but I am responsible for you now. I don't have any idea how to convince you of that, but that's why we're here. It's our job to help you. And for me, it's a bit more than that."
I pause then, unsure of how much to say. Not that I don't want them to know, but I don't want it to sound like I'm bragging about my connections, or trying to make them feel indebted. Afterall, I've actually worked pretty hard to hide those very connections, not wanting anyone to think I got the job through nepotism. I'm not even sure if Serena is fully aware of this, but I think I'll have to say something.
"You see, my great-aunt was working for the FBI 50 years ago. She was the one who blew the whistle to the public about where you were and lead the legal fight to get you released to public custody. That's why you're here now, and not in some government lab. I want to help you, to finish what she started."

"Pictures are all very well, but they could be manipulated easy enough in our own time never mind yours..." Liz comments after I've had my say and then finally we hear from Antonio.

He pauses and my gaze simply narrows as I wait to hear him continue, leaning forward in my seat while my hand grasps Alex's slightly. Later, when we're alone, I'll talk over some things with Alex, but at the moment there are other things that have my focus besides how I feel about Alex, whether I feel there can be anything more then friendship.
Silently, I admit to myself that this doctor is rather attractive and for other purposes, I might have liked to get to know him but at the moment I don't know if he can be trusted.

"And that's the only reason?" I question, my voice a bit softer as I look at my friends and then back at the doctor. I'm definitely going to plan on taking a bit of a 'walk' later before I really let myself believe so much of what a huge part of me wants to believe. "Look, it's great that your great-aunt led a fight to get us out of the risk of a lab and all, but what do you expect us to feel when we awaken and then you people try and keep us from finding each other? We're supposed to trust you when our questions weren't being answered, when we were concerned for each other and weren't having those concerns alleviated?"
I shake my head and look at Michael as I hear him start. "Right, and we're supposed to trust you now when that one," he pointed toward Serena, "Seems more then willing to try and keep you from telling us things. Trying to keep secrets from us. Well, I'll say this right now. I don't trust anyone other then my friends and you're gonna have to do a hell of a lot in order to prove that you aren't doing this for some negative ulterior motive."

I look at Antonio sharply, not sure what to believe. Isabel has a point. We were kept separated, locked in our rooms as we awakened. They weren't forth-coming with information. We had to find each other on our own...

His point is a good one although his confrontational attitude isn't going to help anything here. We need them to trust us, too, before we get everything, I think. Still, I don't countermand him. We're all we have right now, so I harden my expression a bit more, crossing my arms in support of Michael's questions.
"She is holding you back. Why is that?" I ask, looking from the doctor to Serena and back, wondering which one will explain.
Antonio sighs, looking very uncomfortable. "You're right. There's more to it than I've told you so far. You have to understand it's been a thousand years. I can't explain everything in just three or four sentances."
"So why keep us separated?" I ask, starting with what I think would be the easy question.
"We thought it would be best. We were afraid of what you might think if the first of you woke up and saw the others still recovering. Especially if you didn't all make it. We planned to bring you together once everyone was fit again," he says.
I look at Antonio sharply, not sure what to believe. Isabel has a point. We were kept separated, locked in our rooms as we awakened. They weren't forth-coming with information. We had to find each other on our own...
