I nod slowly, concidering Isabel's words. "I would trust any of my crew with your ladies' virture," I tell her.

Individually, they're as lusty as the next guy, but they'll obey me when I tell them to leave the women unmolested. Michael isn't as reliable but I know he'll try to obey, while seeking a loophole in a willing lady. His crew will follow that example, no doubt. And, if she truly is willing, that would not be a problem, but I don't want to see him, or his crew members pressuring the ladies too soon. There will be time enough to get to know them when they've recovered from this ordeal. I know Alex will be a voice of reason, protecting the women.

Which group then, should travel with Michael? Those heading home, or those heading for a new life? Perhaps I should ride with Michael and let Alex captain my ship for this short journey.

I shake my head. "Let us see how many wish to go in which direction. There may be more than can be accomodated on one ship. Ev'n so, it may be best for us to travel in tandem. In case some other threat should appear." My implication is that of another ship arriving to re-claim the ladies, but there are other conciderations, too.

I smiled at my brother and nodded, "Alright. I think it would also be wise if I worked on helping the women clean their clothing and sew anything that might have been torn during this ordeal that came about. So, we'll take a survey of sorts, and figure out the rest."

I turned to the women and looked about to see how they were shifting, most it seemed were more interested in remaining with us, only about twenty seemed to want to return home. "Well, I think it might well be a good idea to head first to this island you spoke of and then return those that wish to go home."

I looked around at everyone, including this guy Alex and Kyle. "What idea's do the rest of you have?" I asked softly, feeling strange that it seemed as though somehow I'd become a leader of sorts.

OOC: I'm still not feeling great, and this is one of the rps I find it hardest to get into the right frame of mind for, but I hope this will do to get Liz back up to date for now.

~Liz~

Discussion continues between Isabel and her brother. She asks him about other possibilities other than America and he mentions a small island that crews retire to. I understand Isabel asking about it. Even from the short time I have known her, I know family is very important to Isabel, and it appears from the way she is speaking that Max and Michael are more family to her than her parents so it makes sense that she would want to stay with them.

Michael begins to object to the idea of women on board… What he thinks they’re going to do with us if they don’t give us a ride I don’t know, but his mention of complaints about sharing a room I can’t help laugh at. “Come, I cannot believe that you think that we would be like that. For the last week or more we have been chained in a hold…there were no comforts such as a bed or washbasin, only cold hard boards and heavy chains… I do not believe there are any here who will object to any conditions you might live in…”

Isabel’s brother Max waves away his fellow captain’s objections though, simply stating that of course we would be travelling with him.

Michael seems to be about to object again to the suggestion of the island but then thinks better of it. I can imagine why… Part of me argues that this could be dangerous, but then part of me knows also that what I return to at home is dangerous… I have little doubt that the rumours regarding my husband-to-be are more than rumour… From everything that I have heard, from more than one source also, he is unpleasant, violent and dangerous… I think practically anything will be better than what I have to expect if I go home.

As Isabel asks the remaining women to make their decision, my attention slides some, fixing on her brother and studying him carefully. He is nothing of what I would expect for a pirate… His manners are much more civilised and I have no doubt that despite what Michael may be thinking, he will not stand for anyone being forced to ‘accomadate’…

This thought at least gives some degree of comfort and I stand there thinking about how strange life is. To go from a reluctant bride, to a slave, to a free woman…that is quite some journey…

I frown as I watch the girls tally up their positions and I see that most of them want to go to Lucky Ace. It's not that there's any problem with than many newcomers there, although all of them being women is likely to cause a stir. But that division indicates we will definately need to travel together as we could not load all of those going to the village on either one of our ships.

I notice one of our crew giving me the high sign, indicating that both ships are loaded with the slavers' booty and they're ready to sail.

"Very well, then," I tell them. "It appears we'll be traveling in tandem. The dingys are already in position to ferry you to our ships. Those who wish to return home, please go foreward to my ship along with a third of those island-bound. The rest, proceed to the aft for transport to Michael's fine vessel. I apologise for our meager hospitality, but we shall do all we can to make you ladies comfortable."

I catch Alex's eye and he moves closer to me. It's probably not necessary, but sometimes it's better for things to be said. "Please take special care that these ladies are well-treated. I'm sure they've endured worse here, but I do want them to feel safe."

Wait are all the women going to the island.

<<Michael>>

Ahh Max a natural born leader. He always knows the right thing to do in a dangerous situation.

EXCEPT NOW!!!

All of these wenches should be going home or back to where they came from. Not to our beloved island. Anything could happen. There are way to many “What if’s”

As Max finishes talking. I go closer to him and Alex.

"Maximillion," I whisper so the women won't know we are talking about them. "Alexander, These are you wishes. I hate to be the sore thumb but we only know sweet Isabel. We don't know a thing about these other lasses. Do they have diseases? Will someone important be looking for them? Are they married? Are they worth money? Damnation are they worth LOTS of money? And most importantly. Can they be trusted? I mean we don't know anything. And to put them on our ships and send them to our sanctuary is just plain mad man."

Before Alex or Max can say anything, I continue.

"If I canna convince you to send them somewhere else, At least let me convince you to interview these women to find out who they are and who they belong to. We don't want to inhabit more that we can drink if you get my drift."

Max and Alex know I have a point.

"As fun as it would be to have a few desperate lasses on my ship for a while, I don't trust them yet. I hope they are all clear of turmoil. Somehow I seriously doubt it though. Women that beautiful belong to someone or have some big secret they wish not to share. Especially with pirates such as us."

I watch Michael and listen to his objections with a practiced ear, but still, I don't quite get his problem. "Michael, what harm could they do us on the island? They can't go telling anyone, there's nowhere to go. And the ones that go back won't be going to the authorities. They'll be too happy getting on with their lives. We'll be heroes." I can't help but grin at that one. Who would have imagined that?

"And as for diseases, if you leave them alone, as I've asked, their diseases or lack of diseases shouldn't trouble you at all," I add. "Yes, we probably could get a great ransom for some of them. Odds are at least a few of them are from good families - but we can't start that."

Michael is glaring at me and I can see he's about to argue. I interupt him with the best excuse I can think of... "Because Isabel won't stand for it. You know that. You don't want to cross her now, do you? You'll have nightmares all year"

I can easily imagine what Michael is saying to attempt in making his points as much as he can. However, I stand there with the other women, my hands on my hips as I finally decide to make my stand even better known. "Michael, Max, Enough of this petty squabbling over where we are going or what we are doing. According to numbers we have nearly thirty women that wish to return to their homes, the rest of us could care less. I am certain however that all of us would very much appreciate the chance for a nice and relaxing bath in order to get the grime from the slavers off. So, shall we be off? Or am I going to have to be even more convincing of my point, Michael?" I know it's mainly Michael's objections that are holding us all up.

Turning I look over and catch a glance at the other three ladies that I'd befriended and grin slightly before turning back and glaring at the men seriously.

(not as long as I wanted, but I guess it get's the point across.. lol...

if you want we can go ahead and have the ships get set and start for the Isle.... )

"Do you observe the Lady's distress?" I ask Michael, feeling a twinkle of amusement in my eye, as Isabel demands our immediate depature, clearly illustrating the very trouble I was only just warning Michael about. "We came to rescue these ladies and that is what we are going to do. Feel free to 'interview' the ladies on your ship if you so deem them to be a security risk. But do no offer them any discourtesy, please. They are our guests."

Turning back to Isabel and her ladies, I offer a sad smile. "The ships are ready to go, dear sister. I'm afraid I can offer little by way of a bath on-board, but the Lucky Ace is less than a day's sail away. I hope you and your ladies will be able to endure your current discomfort for that much longer. Baths and more will be available to you when we disembark on the island."

"Please come along," I say, indicating both Michael's vessel and my own. "We shall be off as soon as you are all safely aboard." As I lead the way forward, I notice that the young lady Liz has chosen to travel with me on the Lucky Star. For some reason, this makes me pleased although I tell myself I have no reason to have even taken note of her choice.

Isabel, on the other hand, is heading aft with Michael. That is well and good. As much as I would like to spend the next day with my sister, I do feel her talents will be well used on Michael's Demons. There, I pray she will be able to keep the great demon, Michael himself, under some sort of control.

ooc: I'm not dropping out either.

Tess

I look around as Isabel heads off to the other ship.

"If you don't mind, I think I shall join Isabel on the other ship. Good day Liz and Maria...till the Lucky Ace." I gave a quick smile and wave to the girls and walked after Isabel and the dread pirate Michael...which I intuitively knew wasn't far from the truth...though I think he had more bark than bite.

OOC: okay, I know this took some time, I had a blockage on what to put for this one, but I hope this will work now. I had a little more in mind, but need to check something first so I guess that will wait for the next post.

~Liz~

Michael moves forward to speak to Max and although I can’t hear what he’s saying, it’s pretty clear that he’s arguing against this plan… Personally, as long as I don’t end up back home and have to go through with that marriage my father has arranged, I think pretty much any possibility will be an improvement on my earlier predicament.

Whatever response he gets is delivered again in a low voice and it’s obvious to me that they don’t want us to hear. Isabel looks increasingly impatient, and it’s not that long before she seems to decide that she’s had enough. “Michael, Max, enough of this petty squabbling over were we are going or what we are doing. According to our numbers we have nearly thirty women that wish to return to their homes, the rest of us couldn’t care less. I am certain however that all of us would very much appreciate the chance for a nice and relaxing back to ger the grim from the slavers off. So, shall we be off? Or am I going to have to be even more convincing of my point Michael?”

I can’t help smiling as I hear her comments. It’s perfectly obvious that she knows these two men well, and I’m guessing she’s pretty good at getting what she wants out of them.

Of course I don’t imagine that they’ll be able to magic baths out of no-where, and I would hardly expect to find one on a ship like theirs, but then I think mainly that is said simply to get them moving more than anything. I smile back at her as she looks round and nod before speaking for only the third time since they came aboard. “Isabel is right – there are those of us who wish to go home, but there are far more of us who do not… What awaits us there is not the cushy pleasant life you would imagine for many of us… Please, don’t make us go back…”

I’m calm and collected, not wimpering or simpering as many of the women are. I don’t mean to be rude about them, but some of them I don’t know how they have survived even this long…

As I speak, I find a number of the women nodding in agreement and it reminds me of how the others simply seem to look to four of us mainly. I don’t really see myself as a leader – Isabel maybe, Maria also possible…but Tess and I, I’m not too sure about that. Still, if it makes them feel better about all this, I guess it’s ok…

Max smiles at his sisters words, before breaking to her the news I would have expected. No baths until we get to the island…but that’s only a few days it seems, and I think I can handle that just fine…

Max motions for us to split into two groups, one to go with Michael, and other with him, and although I don’t want to go home, I find myself moving with the group that intends to move onto Max’s ship. I tell myself it’s more for the reason that Isabel will probably be going with him than anything, but then that excuse is scuppered as she chooses to go with Michael. Oh well, the decision’s already made…for whatever reason, and I’m honestly not sure what that would be…

Tess also chooses to go with Michael, and I return her wave and smile. “Good day to you too…safe journey…” I tell her softly before heading in the opposite direction, following the group who are to travel with Max.
