Chapter 5
Liz Came up to the court and saw max shooting hoops. She smiled as she watched him. Max didnt notice her watching him. He went to shoot again.
“Miss!” Liz yelled and the ball hit missed the hoop completely.
“ you have to stop distracting me” Max said with a smile.
“Oh so you admit that I am a distraction? Am I a good distraction or a bad one?” Liz asked playfully.
“Thats a hard question to answer” Replied laughing. Liz punched him in the shoulder.
“ you better give me an answer” Liz yelled.
“Ok! your a good distraction” Max said pulling her into his arms.
“ Its good to know that I am a good distraction” Liz said kissing him.
“you want to go back to my house watch a movie or something? My parents arent home” Max said smiling.
“Sure sounds like fun. But we cant, I have to get home before My parents get worried.”
“Right” Max said softly looking away.
“What is it?” Liz asked.
“I dont see how this is going to work” Max looked down and saw liz's arm. Liz pulled her jacket sleeve down over her arm.
“What happened?” Max asked with a furious angry tone.
“I ran into a wall thats all” Liz said softly.
“Dont Lie Liz just tell me. Did...He do this to you” Liz looked away and crossed her arms in front of her.
“Yes” Liz said softly.
“I'll kill him if he hurts you!” Max yelled with anger.
“Max stop!” Liz yelled.
“ Does your parents know he did this to you?” Max asked.
“No they dont care, they dont listen to anything I have to say. Its always Nick. Nick and his basketball career.” Liz said as she went over to the benches and sat down.
“ How can your parents be like that?” Max asked.
“I dont know, They dont see me sometimes.” Liz said softly. Max Leaned closer to liz and took her hand in his.
“I see you Liz” he said softly as he pulled her hair away from her face. Liz half smiled and looked down. She had never had a guy say such wonderful words to her.
“Thank you” She said softly.
Maria was working late at the crashdown. She looked up at the clock and realized it was after 11. She was exhausted everything was done so she decided to study a little bit before she went home. She saw some peep into the window. She went to the door and opened it.
“Were closed do you not read? It say clooosed!” maria said pointing out the sign.
“I can read Maria” Michael Guerin said.
“Then what the hell are you doing here?”
“ I couldnt sleep have alot on my mind” Maria let him in. She went back to her studying.
“Could I at least have piece of your famous alien chocolate cake?” michael asked he winked at her. maria cut a piece of the cake and put it on a plate and handed it to him.
“Its on the house” Maria said as she went back to her books.
“ So I Heard you like to sing” Michael said as he bit into his pie.
“How the hell do you know that?”
“Lucky guess” Michael said. Maria looked up and saw Max and Liz entering the crashdown.
“The two love birds are here” Maria said smiling.
“Hey” Liz said as she sat the counter with max next to her.
“What are you guys doing here so late?” Max asked.
“We were going to ask you the same thing?” Michael replied with a mouth full of chocolate cake.
“ We couldnt sleep so we were just shooting some hoops out on the court” Max replied. Maria and Michael both laughed and replied at the same time, “yeah right sure whatever”
“ well me and max are going to go upstairs and watch a movie or something you two can join us if you like” Liz said with a smile.
“No, I have to get home” Maria said as she stuffed all her books in her bag.
“ Yeah umm I have to get home too before my parents get worried” Michael said as he got up.
“Goodnight” Liz said softly as her and max went upstair to watch a movie.
Max and Liz were too into each other to watch the movie.
“Max were missing the movie” Liz said softly.
“ Well I've seen this movie twenty times already” Max said as he kissed her. This was crazy to Liz. She was going crazy how could she fall for someone so bad? She usually wasnt like this.
“ max we have to slow down” Liz said looking into his eyes. Max didnt want to slow down. He wanted her side. If he didnt have her he felt he was going to go crazy. But he could see that they were going way too fast for her.
“Ok” Max said softly kissing her again. Liz curled up next to him and laid her head on his shoulder.
“What time is it?” Liz asked softly. Max looked over at the clock and realized it was 2am.
“2am” Max said softly kissing the top of her head.
“We can stay here, my brother is probably at the main house.” Liz said softly.
“ you have two houses?” Max asked curiously.
“This is like an apartment here, and sometimes I stay up here a when I work and my parents sometimes rent it out over the summer .” Liz said softly trying to watch the movie.
“cool, so there is a room up here too?” Max asked.
“yeah” Liz said softly.
Before Liz and max knew it they were fast alseep on the couch. It was 7am in the morning. Mr parker went upstairs because he heard the tv running. He Thought that it was maybe one of the kids. He entered the room and found Liz and max asleep on the couch. He clicked the tv off. Both max and Liz woke up.
“ young man I think you need to get home” Mr parker said. Liz got and max quickly left. Liz looked up at her father and knew she had a lot of explaining to do.
“Downstairs now Lizzie” Mr parker said in a stern voice.
Liz sat in one of the booths with her father across from her.
“Lizzie what is going on? you dont come home, you have brusies on marks on you, your grades have gone down and Now I find you with a boy asleep on the couch” Jeff parker said to his only daughter.
“Nothing is going on Dad I promise you. Max is A great guy” Liz said.
“How did you get the marks on your arm” Liz couldnt look him in the eye.
“From nick” Liz said softly. Liz knew he didnt believe her.
“ I'm suppose to believe that your brother did this to you? Why would he do this?”
“because he is mad at me! He doesnt want me seeing max.”
“Well I dont want you seeing max either, If your lying and staying out all night” Jeff parker said he got up and went to the back.
“Thats unfair! You cant keep me away from max! I love him!” Liz yelled. Liz just realized what she said. She loved max evans. Her father turned to her and gave her a stern expression.
“Lizzie, I want whats best for you” He said.
“What about what I want! Its always been what you want what nick wants! When Do I get what I want!” Liz yelled as she stormed out of the crashdown.
Maria heard someone knocking on her door. She looked out the window and saw Liz.
“Liz what are you doing here so early?” Maria asked letting her in.
“ I'm sick of my life I'm sick of everything! My parents dont want me seeing max, nick doesnt want me seeing max. I dont undestand them!” Liz yelled as she paced back and fourth in maria's living room.
“Well umm Sweetie I need some coffee so I can wake up before you say anything more to me” maria said as she went into the kitchen. Liz felt like her world was crashing beneath her. maria came out of the kitchen and handed Liz a cup of steaming coffee.
“I Dont know what to do Ria” Liz said as she sipped on her coffee.
“ Do whats in your heart” Maria said softly.
Max walked into his house hoping his parents wouldnt know that he had been gone all night. As he made his way to the stairs he was stopped by his mother.
“Max we need to talk”His mother said motioning for him to sit down.
“Whats going on mom?” Max asked.
“where you all night?” She asked as max sat across from her.
“I was ...at Michael's you know how he is. We got carried away with practice and stuff so I just decided to spend the night at his house” Max hated lying to his mother.
“Why didnt you say something, why didnt you call? I was worried sick about you”
“Sorry it got so late I didnt want to call because I thought you were asleep” Max saif lying out of his teeth.
“ok,so is michael going to camp with you?” His mother asked.
“His parents wont let him go, They told him if he goes they will disown him”
“Thats a shame! His has such talent! Tell michael he needs to live with us!”
“I did, and you like michael way too much mom”
“Sorry, He is a great boy and has such potential and I think you and him would make a great ball players. Max just dont screw anything up. I want you to live your dream, I want you to suceede in life” his mother said smiling.
“I wont I will make you proud mom” He said hugging his mother. Michael came walking into the house.
“Hey, Mrs Evans, hey max wanna shoot some hoops?” Michael said tossing him the ball.
“Yeah, I'll be back in a couple of hours mom”
“Ok” She said smiling at her son.
“Your mom doesnt know about Liz does she?” Michael asked.
“No she doesnt, And she wont not for a while.” Max said as he hopped into michael's truck. They pulled up in front of East side roswell high.
“you have a key to the gym?” Max asked curiously.
“yeah the coach gave it me he said that you and I need a little practice because he said we have been off balance lately”
They walked up to the gym doors and michael noticed that the gym doors were unlocked.
“ Thats not good” Max a said.
They both walked in and noticed the gym was trashed. There was trash and paper everywhere. And Someone had Sprayed painted graffti all over the walls and bleachers.
“Oh my god!” Max said.
“Ohh boy west side is going to pay!” michael said as he dropped the ball on the court.
