Author Note: This fic is based on the Tim McGraws 'If Your Reading This." Also the Character Chris is based on my mothers bestfriend's son. He was killed two years ago in the war while out on a mission and when ever I hear this song I instantly think of Chris.

Hey Liz, if they did as I asked then right now you are standing in a room with our mothers reading this letter. And knowing the girls like I do, then Maria, Isabel and Tess are close by watching.

I’m sorry babe, but I broke a promise. I know I told you the day that I enlisted into this war I would come home to you, but things changed. Despite what we once believed I now know that you and I were only meant to be together for a small amount of time. I knew it the moment my touched down over here. Don’t worry though, because I’m okay.

I know your wondering when I wrote this. I’ll be honest, I wrote this the night I got here. I mailed it to mom with the instructions of when she was to give this to you. In that letter I told her of the spot I had chosen if anything should happen. I don’t have to tell you why I chose that spot. I knew from the beginning that this is where I wanted to be. After all it was our special place.

I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you when you gave birth to Claudia. I know she will look just as beautiful as you do. And of course she will be as stubborn as I am. And like the both of us she will stand for her beliefs no matter what people tell her. She is an Evans after all.

I do have a request for you. I need you to tell dad that I don’t regret my choice. Tell him not to blame himself for me joining the Air Force. Every since I was a little boy I dreamed of following in his shoes. Dad fought in the Gulf before retiring from the Air Force and now it was my turn. I’m proud to be his son. Let him know this. He needs to be told this. If you want to, let him read this letter. If I know my father he won’t believe it unless he reads it himself.

Now I want you to know that I love you, and yes I really did ask mom to give this you on your wedding day. I wanted you know I’m happy for you. Because the one wish I would have for you is that you moved on and found someone new. I only hope that that person is Michael. I know that if anything were to happen to me he would be the one to stand by your side. Even though he is like a brother to me, sometimes I could swear you to were closer then we all knew.

Don’t worry I never thought the two of you were together behind my back. I know you loved me as much as I loved you, and you would never do something like that. But I also know you loved him as well, and I’m okay with that. Good luck Liz. I want you to have a long and loving life with your new husband. Just promise me you won’t let Claudia forget me. I know don’t have to ask that, but I just need to. I know you and Michael will tell her all about me. And know this I will always be watching over all of you.

“Hey Max. It’s time.”

Turning Max saw the three soldiers that where with him that fateful day last year. “Isn’t she beautiful Chris? Just like I told you.”

“Yeah Max, just like you said.” Chris said as he came to stand by Max. “It’s time to go though.”

“She’s marring Michael. I knew she would.” Max said with a small smile.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” He said with a sigh, “I’m real good. Lets go home Chris. It’s like you said, it’s time. They’re all going to be okay.”

“It’s time, can’t keep Michael waiting.” He heard Maria say as he turned away. “They’re going to be okay.” He whispered to himself as he left.
