The Created

In the Control Room of Stargate Command the technician reports: “Chevron 7 is encoded.”

WHOOSH is heard through out the control room and an outgoing wormhole has been established. SG-1 approaches the Stargate. Colonel O’Neill looks up to the Control Room and General Hammond turns on the mike. “SG-1 you have a go.”

Colonel O’Neill salutes and waves his team, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Major Samantha Carter, and the Jaffa Teal’c, through the Stargate. P-90’s at the ready, they step onto P4X-631. Colonel O’Neill takes a quick survey and quips, “Guess what, kids? It’s another green planet. The purple sky is a nice touch tho.”

Major Carter informs O’Neill, “Sir, the UAV showed a city ten clicks east of here.”

O’Neill takes a moment to enjoy the early spring day the sun is shining and the air had not yet lost the early morning crispness. “Alright campers let’s move out. Teal’c take point,” orders O’Neill, “and I’ll watch our six.”

As Teal’c leads the way through the foliage, Dr. Jackson and Major Carter discuss the city they receive periodic glimpses of. Soon they approach the city gates. O’Neill orders Daniel forward to make contact with the locals.

Smiling Daniel approaches one of the guards. “Hello, my name is Daniel Jackson. We are peaceful explorers from Earth and we would like to talk to your leaders.”

The guard looks at the imposing bulk of the Jaffa Teal’c. “Peaceful explorers, eh? Then why do you carry weapons?”

Daniel is taken aback by the question and looks to Jack for an answer.

“Doesn’t matter. You cannot enter the city carrying weapons,” the guard smirks.

Jack starts to protest but Daniel cuts him off. “We understand. Do you have someone who can take us to your leader?”

The guard says, “Rab, take your unit and escort these visitors to our Lord, King Khivar.”

SG-1 follows Rab on a winding trek through the city. The signs of decay are obvious. Buildings are scorched and falling apart. The people are worn and gray. The stench of rotting waste wafts through the air. SG-1 is entering a war zone.

Rab leads them to a more heavily guarded gate. Rab approaches a man wearing a lot of medals and says, “Captain, these people are here to see Lord Khivar.”

The Captain asks, “Do you have an appointment?”

Daniel answers, “No, we are explorers from Earth and we wanted…”

The Captain’s head snaps up. “From Earth?” Daniel nods an affirmative. He steps into an office and has a brief conversation.

“Guys, I don’t like this,” warns O’Neill.

When the Captain returns he says, “His Majesty will see you now. Rab, I’ll take it from here. Return to your post.”

SG-1 follows the Captain inside the gate and onto the palace grounds. The beauty of the lush garden is overpowering after the devastation of the city. They quietly follow the Captain for he has ignored all of Daniel’s attempts at conversation.

As SG-1 enters the palace, Teal’c and Major Carter tense as they sense a Goa‘uld, but it is too late for they are surrounded.

Teal’c scrutinizes the guards and reports, “O’Neill, none of them bear the markings of any known system Lord.”

SG-1 is brought to the throne room to meet his majesty King Khivar. The guards hit them on the backs of their knees and order them to kneel before their god. The Captain approaches Lord Khivar to report. “These humans claim to be from the planet Earth.”

“I do not recognize any of these earthlings from the reports. Who are they?” Khivar asks.

The Captain looks at Daniel pointedly. “I am Dr. Daniel Jackson, to my left is Colonel Jack O’Neill, Major Samantha Carter, and Teal’c.”

Lord Khivar points to Teal’c. “You bear the insignia of Apophis. For what reason are you on my planet?”

With the barest hint of a smile Teal’c replies, “The false god, Apophis, is dead.”

The shock to Khivar is evident. “I must think on this. But first, why are you in the company of Earthlings?”

Teal’c replies with his deep calm voice. “The Tauri are peaceful explorers who wish to meet new peoples.”

Khivar scoffs, “Earthlings peaceful? Your kind is causing me…never mind. Who do you represent?”

Teal’c answers, “The United States government.”

“So, you are here about the Royal Four! Place them in the dungeon. I’ll question them when I am done with the other human.”

Confused Jack asks, “The royal who?”

Daniel tries to placate Khivar but he just enrages him further. Khivar orders, “Take them now.”

“At once my lord.” The guard bows and leads SG-1 on the way to the dungeon.

A few hours later SG-1 hears the guards returning to their cell. They are dragging a person between them. The body is thrown into the cell with SG-1. The guard warns, “This is what happens to humans who don’t cooperate!”

Teal’c picks the petite woman up and places her on the cot. As her long hair falls away from her face, they gasp in shock at the bruised and bloody mess before them. Carter’s knowledge of field medicine is not nearly enough to patch the woman up.

After Carter finishes her examination Jack asks, “Is she a Goa’uld?”

“No, Sir.”

Daniel adds, “Jack, she must be the other human Khivar was talking about.”

“Indeed, Daniel Jackson, I believe you are correct,” agrees Teal’c.

Jack asks Carter, “How is she?”

“She appears to have several cracked ribs, contusions to the face and chest, lacerations to the face, chest, and back. There are burn marks on her hands and feet. I think her shoulder is dislocated and her ankle is broken.”

Jack wears, “Damn! Who is she? How did she get here from Earth? That snake believes we are with her and the royal whoevers. Until she wakes up with answers, we are screwed!”

Chapter Two

Carter watches her normally animated CO worriedly he has not moved in the last few hours. He had finally given up trying to pry open the cell door. Instead he has been staring at the door as if it held all of the answers to the universe. She shares a glance with Daniel and they decide to make another attempt at interrupting their CO's reverie. "Sir?"

Eyes still on the door O'Neill finally speaks to ask, "Carter do you think we are in an alternate universe or something?"

Intrigued by the idea she questions, "Why do you think so?"

O'Neill begins ticking off points, "One Khivar was shocked to find out Apophis is dead. Two they don't know who we are. Three they know of Earth and the US government. Four a fellow Earthling we have never seen is sharing a cell with us."

Teal’c listens to his teammates theorize but his gaze never leaves their cellmate. He notices that the girl is beginning to regain consciousness and alerts the team. With her eyes barely open, she watches as Carter checks her over. Sam blue eyes open wide tries to convey trust to the battered woman before her. Gently she questions her. "Hello, my name is Sam. This is Daniel, Teal’c and Jack. What is your name?"

Brown eyes stare at her blankly. "I don’t know."

At the Colonel’s exasperated sigh Carter says, "Sir, I think she maybe in shock."

"Damn! We need to figure a way out of here." He looks at the woman as he considers their situation. "Do you think you can walk?"

"No. But I have escaped out of here once before and I can tell you how to get out."

Excited O’Neill exclaims, "Sweet!"

"But Sir, we haven’t been able to get through the shield doors," injects Carter.

The woman interrupts, "How long have I been out?"

Carter answers, "At least 12 hours."

"I can get you out, but it will drain me." She looks at Teal’c. "Will you carry me?"

Teal’c raises his eyebrow slightly at the odd request but replies, "Yes."

She explains the layout of the dungeon and the escape route she used. "I need you all to stand back from the door." She closes her eyes and pools her energy. A green globe shimmering with lightning currents forms above her palm. Holding her hand up she sends the globe to the door causing a blast, which disrupts the shield and opens the door.

Moving swiftly Teal’c catches her as she passes out. Sam, Jack, and Daniel stare at the unconscious woman in stunned amazement. Jack is the first to recover and he walks out the door, followed by the others. Jack and Sam work in tandem checking out the corridor. They work their way out of the dungeon and the palace complex following the woman’s instructions. For once, their luck holds and it is dark when they reach the palace walls. Avoiding the guards, they eventually find a way over the palace walls and into the city.

*********************

The technician reports, "Incoming wormhole. Unscheduled off world activation."

General Hammond is concerned and orders, "Close the iris." A titanium shield covers the circular surface of the Stargate.

The technician reports, "Receiving GDO transmission sir. It’s SG-1."

Worried General Hammond replies, "They’re not supposed to report in for another 24 hours. Open the iris."

SG-1 steps through the Stargate with Teal’c carrying an injured woman.

General Hammond asks, "Colonel, what is the meaning of this?"

Jack responds, "Sir, we were imprisoned by a Gou’ald. She was a fellow prisoner and helped us to escape."

"Very well, take her to the infirmary. Debriefing will be in two hours, people."

************

After running numerous tests on her mysterious patient, Dr. Frasier calls Colonel O’Neill and General Hammond to her office.

Jack enters with a jaunty grin and asks, "So, how’s our visitor?"

Dr. Janet Fraiser answers, "A puzzle sir. She is of Earth, human in origin, but she is more than human. Let me show you." Janet puts up pictures of DNA sequences. She points to the first one. "This is panther DNA." She points to the second one. "This is shark DNA." She points to the third picture but is distracted by Jack’s horrified gaze.

"This isn’t possible!" Jack stands up. "General, I have got to go."

"Colonel, wait there is more. Her human DNA is a match to yours." Janet flinches at the cold rage in Jack’s brown eyes.

General Hammond has been studying Jack’s reactions. "Son, I think it is time you tell me what this is all about."

Jack’s voice lacks his normal sarcastic edge. "Sir, you don’t have high enough clearance for this story."

"Colonel, I am ordering you to tell me." General Hammond waits a few minutes. "Colonel, I’m waiting."

Reeling, Jack slowly sits back down. He looks away from the General’s steely blue gaze. "As you know, after basic I went straight into special ops. After a few missions, I was selected for a study on the physical and psychological effects of the work I did. I was poked and prodded by the doctors. They treated me like a tame monkey for a few months. A few years later I was approached by some of the other guys in the study. They had found out that our DNA samples were being used to create children. The scientists were trying to create a super soldier. According to the Intel we had, none of the DNA experiments had been successful. We decided to go in and destroy the project."

General Hammond asks, "Who authorized it?"

Jack ignores the question. "I watched the facility blow up."

"Colonel…"

"General, I need to know how this happened."

"Jack, your daughter is down there. I think she will have the answers you need."

Stunned, shattered, Jack goes into the infirmary and sits by his daughter’s bedside. Her face is still so bruised her features cannot be distinguished. Absentmindedly Jack plays with a lock of her long brown hair, hair a shade darker than his own used to be. During his vigil he growls at anyone who comes near her, for Janet is the only one he trusts enough to treat his daughter.

Chapter 3

Two days after her rescue the woman wakes up to the smell of antiseptic and a grizzly looking Jack. She whispers, "The escape was a success."

"Yes thank you for whatever you did to get us out of that cell."

Looking around the infirmary, she sees no one present but Jack. "Water?"

"Oh sure," Jack pours a glass and helps her drink.

"Thanks, so where am I?"

"Earth."

"How did we get back from Antar? I didn’t think Earth had faster than light travel."

"That’s classified. Mind telling me how you ended up on Antar?"

She smiles, "If I told ya, I’d have to kill ya. I must be driving you military types nuts; so many unanswered questions."

Jack grins, "You have no idea. Do you remember your name?"

She answers, "No, just a number; X-5…353. Does that mean anything to you?"

"Nope."

"Well, I need to be called something any suggestions?"

"Bart?" he suggests.

"No."

"Or Maggie?"

"No."

"How about Homer?" Jack can see the hint of a smile at that suggestion.

"No."

"I know. Marge!" Bingo! A smile graces his daughters face.

"No!"

"Lisa?"

Amused she asks, "Watch the Simpson’s much?"

Jack smirks, "Quality TV at its best."

The rest of SG-1 stands at the observation window watching the by-play between Jack and the unknown woman. They stop Dr. Janet Fraiser before she can enter the infirmary. Carter asks, "Janet, what’s going on? Who is that woman?"

"Sam, I’m sorry, but I can’t tell any of you anything."

"Janet, we have a right to know," Daniel tells her.

"No Daniel you don’t," Janet tells him frankly. "And I’m going to give you some advice. Don’t push Jack on this. You won’t win."

Chastised, Daniel asks, "May we see her?"

"Let me check with Jack." Janet walks in and checks the young woman’s vital signs.

Baffled they watch Jack laugh and joke with the woman. Almost whining Daniel goes off. "I don’t understand who is this woman? Jack is treating her with the care he only occasionally shows to us. The Tok’ra have never heard of this Goa’uld Khivar. Why won’t Jack or General Hammond tell us anything?"

Seeing Janet waving them in Carter cuts Daniel off.

The patient smiles, "I want to thank you guys for getting me out of there. Khivar’s hospitality leaves a lot to be desired."

Daniel asks, "Do you know who Khivar is?"

"He’s the Lord God, King of Antar…the Usurper. Strange being with glowing eyes. His energy is different from the Antarians. Speaking of energy, all of you but Doc Fraiser have weird energy signatures."

Taken aback, Sam asks, "How do you know that?"

Frustration evident she answers, "I don’t know! I just sense the differences between you. Jack and Sam are the same. Teal’c is similar, and Daniel’s energy is just chaotic." A fearful look enters her eyes, "Khivar’s signature is similar to Teal’c’s."

Daniel answers, "Khivar is a Goa’uld. A Goa’uld is a parasitic being that takes hosts, usually human hosts. Sam and Jack were each possessed at one time. Teal’c is a Jaffa; they carry the larval form of a Goa’uld."

"Why don’t you get rid of it?"

"Because I would have died," Teal’c responds.

"Alrighty then," she says.

Janet notices her patient yawning and kicks Sam, Teal’c, and Daniel out of the infirmary.

Author's Note: This part is kind of on the short side I thought I had it all with me. I am posting what I have and if I can before we leave I'll post the rest tonight.

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Chapter 4

His daughter’s restless movements awaken Jack. Grabbing her hand, he tries to wake her from the nightmare but she brings him into her dreams.

He finds himself starring into a pair of deep blue eyes. "Zack, Jack is no longer in the infirmary."

Zack replies, "Dr. Meyer said he was fine."

"Then where is he?"

"We will look tonight after lights out."

The dreamscape alters he sees the familiar green of infirmary walls. Zack and I do a quick but thorough search of the medical bay and the files. "Zack, Jack’s files are gone."

I see his blue eyes harden he nods and we continue through the medical bay to the morgue. We open and shut the flat silver doors and to my horror, we finally find Jack.

I see anguish and anger battle within Zack’s eyes. "We have to get out of here."

"Zack we can’t leave him alone."

Zack grabs my hand and pulls me into his arms. "Lizzie he is with the blue lady now. We have to find a way to save the others."

I am Liz…

The dream plane shifts and it’s nighttime. A voice softly calls out, "wake up."

Automatically I look to Zack’s bunk but find it empty. Scanning the barracks I find everyone congregated at Maxi’s bunk. Zack is cradling her she is convulsing in his arms. Desolate eyes meet mine. "It is time and we aren’t fully prepared."

Eva reports, "the guards are coming."

"Zack we have no choice we have to go now!"

"I know I was planning for this spring."

"I already have packs prepared for us outside the gates. I’ve been readying supplies since Jack died. They are hidden at the rendezvous point for next weeks exercise."

"OK Eva, Krit, Syl get the guards I’ll carry Max."

Eva takes out the first guard while Krit and Syl handle the second and third. The fourth is smart enough to stay outside and call for back up. As Eva approaches him he pulls his weapon out and shoots her in the chest. The air is filled with screams of Eva.

The dreamscape changes and I am running in the dark it is starkly white and cold so numbingly cold. A few more feet and I’m flying over the fence I’m free.

I look back to see Jondy slipping on the ice and Max stopping to help steady her. Jondy moves back onto the bank reaching for Max but the ice cracks and she falls through. Out of nowhere Zack appears and pulls Max out of the freezing water and carries her closer to the fence. The guards are getting closer. Zack runs towards them to distract giving Max the chance to leap over the fence.

BANG! A shot is fired. I watch Zack stumble to his knees. I meet his loving blue gaze for the last time. The pristine snow becomes crimson as another shot slams into his body pitching it forward.

Liz comes out of the dream plane screaming Zack’s name.

Post by Adian »

A/N: Any mistakes in Ch 4b are entirely of my own making! Ch 5 was betaed by Sablaine, Queen of Commas. Kathy thanks for the help and input! I promise I am back to work on the story and will be sending new chapters soon!

~Adian

pandas- I just got your pm today I really haven't been on the board at all this month. You had a question about Eva and Zack. I followed the X-5 escape storyline with a few twists of my own. In the original Eva dies during the escape and Zack is captured. Max slips and falls and Jondy leaves her. She gets separated from the others during the escape and is picked up by a female Manticore scientist. The scientist helps her and Max eventually ends up in Seattle. My version is just a wee bit (ok a lot different). I will explain more about the escape and what happens to the others in later chapters.

~Adian

Chapter 4b

Jack holds his sobbing daughter close while she relives her grief. Unbeknownst to her Jack recieves flashes of her life. Liz's subconcious mind is revealing the truth of who she was, is, and will become to the one man who will help her achieve her destiny.

In turn she recieves flashes of Jack's life the most important jolts her out of her sorrow. "Your my father?"

Unsure how to respond Jack hesitantly says, "Yes."

"I never thought to find you. I always wondered if you were luckier than mother and out there somewhere alive."

"What happened to her?"

"She died after giving birth to Maxie. The scientists treated them as walking incubators they took care of their physical needs but kept all of the mothers locked up in Manticore."

Hopeful Jack asks, "Is Maxie my child too?"

"I don't know. Maxie, Krit, and I all share the same mother but we never knew if we shared the same father."

"Maxie's a girl right?" Liz nods an affirmative.

"And Krit is a boy?"

"Yes."

Smiling he asks, "Since they are your siblings do you think they would accept me being their father too?"

With tear in her eyes Liz replies, "How could they not?"

Chapter 5

Colonel O’Neill and Dr. Fraiser are in General Hammond’s office. Impatient, Jack asks, "Can we hurry this up? I need to get back to the infirmary."

General Hammond begins, "Colonel, we need to talk about your daughter."

Immediately on guard he asks, "What about her?"

Dr. Fraiser answers, "Sir, her injuries are healing rapidly. Her healing rate is almost as fast as Teal’c’s. It is about to become glaringly obvious she is different."

"Jack, we think you need to tell your team and your daughter everything."

Dr. Fraiser adds, "Speculation is running rife. They believe she is an alien and want to know what your involvement with her is."

Jack retorts, "That is wrong on so many levels." He stares at Doc Fraiser and the General thoughtfully. He knows NID, the top-secret government organization opposed to SGC policies, will stop at nothing to get what they want, including kidnapping and murder. "I’ve already involved you both in an NID matter. If they find out about Liz, you will both become targets. General are you prepared to risk your granddaughters lives again?" Turning to Janet he asks, "Are you prepared to risk Cassie?"

General Hammond comments, "Jesus, Jack, you blew up an NID facility and managed to stay alive."

"Well, they tried to recruit me, Sir."

*************

A few hours later General Hammond, Dr. Fraiser, Major Carter, Dr. Jackson, and Teal’c impatiently await Colonel O’Neill’s arrival. Daniel mutters, "He called the meeting. The least he could do is be on time." His muttering earns him a disgusted look from Janet.

O’Neill walks in the conference room with none of his usual pithy comments. He walks up to the lectern and places a few thick folders on top of it. He visually sweeps the room, noting facial expressions, posture, and placement of his guests. None can withstand his harsh gaze for more than a moment or two. "I know you all have questions but please wait till I’m finished. The story is classified over even General Hammond’s level. Hell, I doubt the President even knows this story. It is an NID matter. If they find out you know, you and your families will become targets. Everyone else involved in this outside of the NID is dead except for me. You all have a choice leave and don’t get involved or stay and satisfy your curiosity."

Confused Daniel asks, "Jack, don’t you think we need a little more information to make a decision like that?"

"No, Daniel, this is an all or nothing deal. I highly recommend you getting up and walking out that door. This is deadly serious and you none of you have to be involved. The NID will target you and your families. They have done it to the others involved."

Carter says, "Sir, we are a team, a family. We can help you."

Teal’c adds, "Indeed O’Neill, we have faced many deadly situations before and succeeded. We will do so this time as well."

O’Neill studies each person in turn noting his or her determination to help him. In a flat tone, he begins telling his tale. "It all began in the beginning of my career in special ops. After a few missions, I was selected for a study on the physical and psychological effects of the work I did. I was poked and prodded by the doctors for a few months."

"A few years later," he continues, "I was approached by some of the other men in the study. The study had been a cover up for an NID program called Project Manticore. The doctors took DNA samples from us and gave them to NID scientists. The scientists were former Nazi’s who had been working on Hitler’s breeding program to create a Master race. The NID wanted the scientists to create a super soldier. According to the Intel we had, none of the DNA experiments had been successful. We didn’t want to take any chances that they might eventually find a way to succeed. We decided to go in and destroy the project."

"Until recently, I thought we had destroyed Project Manticore," Jack informs the group. "At the time, the government was being pressured by its European allies to give up the Nazi’s who had asylum in the US. These scientists were to be tried as war criminals but the NID had other plans. The Intel we received was bogus. The NID had us blow up a recently vacated facility so that they could claim the scientists were dead."

"The woman we rescued on P4X-631 is one of the children created by Manticore. Genetically she is my daughter." Jack pauses knowing the pandemonium this last announcement will cause.

"Holy Hannah!" Exclaims Carter.

Daniel is stunned into silence and Teal’c into speech. "O’Neill, these are truly evil beings and they must be stopped."

O’Neill nods in agreement and continues. "She used a military technique to forget all information when being tortured. According to Doc Fraiser, she will regain her memories in a few days - a week on the outside. I am bowing to Janet’s superior knowledge and not informing my daughter of our genetic relationship or anything else yet. Doc thinks it would be best to let her remember on her own."

"Her presence on P4X-631 brings up some interesting questions. Is she an NID operative and if so how did she end up on another planet? What was her mission? Who is this Goa’uld Khivar? I know Daniel has not found any reference to him. Who are the Royal Four Khivar was asking about? And why would our government know anything about them?"

Daniel asks, "Jack, what did the NID do to your daughter? How was she able to blast the door open?"

Jack answers, "Janet, this is your department."

Janet breaks out her DNA pictures and begins a detailed explanation of gene splicing.

Special Thanks to Sablaine for betaing this for me!

Chapter 6

Three days later...

Jack escorts Liz to the briefing room where General Hammond, Dr. Fraiser, and the rest of SG-1 are awaiting her. General Hammond sits at the head of the table with everyone but Teal'c sitting near him. Teal'c has positioned himself at the end of the table. Jack forgoes his usual spot beside Major Carter to sit across from Teal'c. Liz sits between them opposite General Hammond.

General Hammond is surprised by the Colonel and Liz's table placement but begins the briefing. "Colonel O'Neill has informed me that you have regained your memories. I would like to know how you traveled across the galaxy."

"I am a protector of the Royal family of Antar they were sent to Earth for safety. Let's just say it wasn't a weather balloon that crashed in 1947. Unfortunately, the government saw it as a hostile act and didn't believe the story of the protectors they captured. The FBI created the Special Unit, which has been hunting for the rest of aliens that crashed since '47. The government got their hands on the two spaceships, a few dead aliens, and three of the protectors who were shape shifters. One of the protectors managed to hide the pods carrying the Royal Four before he was captured."

"Three of the Royal Four hatched in 1989. Diane and Philip Evans who adopted them found King Zan and his sister Princess Vilondra. The third was General Rath, Princess Vilondra's betrothed, who was put in the foster care system. They were known as Max and Isabel Evans, and Michael Guerin. The fourth pod contained Queen Ava known as Tess Harding but she doesn't come into the story until later."

"They were able to keep a low profile growing up as human until I was shot in my parents cafe. Max healed me, which is where the odyssey begins. The alien hunters, the sheriff, nor the FBI believed the cover story and they all began to watch Max. The FBI tried to gain evidence against Max through various means when their ploys didn't work Agent Pierce kidnapped him. Pierce believed that an alien invasion was imminent and that Max was the leader. Max was tortured but none of his answers satisfied Pierce. With the help of an escaped protector Nesado, we were able to free Max and kill Pierce. Nesado took Pierce's likeness and dismantled the Special Unit from the inside."

"Which brings us to the Skins. The Skin's leader Khivar had overthrown the monarchy of Antar. He was just slightly pissed when he found out that the Royal Four had been recreated mixing Antarian and human DNA. He sent his General, Nicholas, to Earth with a small army to find the royals and kill them. Earth's air is toxic to the Skin's they live inside a husk that appears human. The only way to kill them is pop their valve at the base of their backs and they disintegrate."

Fascinated Carter asks, "How could you tell who was a skin?"

With a slight moue of distaste Liz answers, "They shed a lot especially in the desert."

Concerned Hammond asks, "How many Skins are still on Earth?"

Smiling gleefully Liz replies, "None we destroyed them. Their power base was located in Copper Summit the home of the Universal Friendship League. The League was a cover to contact the Skins throughout the country. The original husks only had a lifespan of 50 years, which has already passed. They had tried to grow new husks but they take 20 years to mature. We destroyed the husks before they matured. If by some miracle any of the husks are still functioning it’s not really a concern the war is now back in the Antarian system."

General Hammond asks, "How did you get to Antar?"

"A spaceship was sent for us."

"How were you able to contact them?"

"Communication devices were left with the pods. When the Royal Four activated them a signal went out to Antar but it also alerted the Skins that the Royal Four survived. The leaders of the rebellion had given up hope that the royals had survived the crash. There was a summit meeting in New York City for Max to prove his claim to the throne. Once he did, it all became a bad soap opera. They were supposed to have been born with genetic memory but it didn't work very well. Tess Harding the former Queen Ava had been raised by Nesado who taught her his own version of the life and death of the Royal Four. He was secretly working for Khivar he couldn't directly harm Max but he could help others harm him. Nesado made a deal with Khivar for Tess's life. She would get pregnant with Max's heir and deliver the other three to Khivar. The hitch in the plan was the Granolith the protector that hid it died before he could tell anyone where it was hidden. To add to the fun a book was provided written in the language of High Antarian that explained how to use the Granolith. It was a language only taught to royalty and priests. Tess and Nesado had to find a way to decipher the book. We had a friend Alex who was a computer genius Tess used her mindwarping abilities on him to get him to decode the book at the University of Las Cruses. He broke out of the mindwarp and she killed him. She made it look like a suicide."

"But I, I knew better. I knew Alex hadn't killed himself and I set about proving it. It caused a rift Human vs. Alien I played straight into Tess's hands. Max ordered me not to pursue it because I would be calling attention to them. While I was out almost being killed by alien bombs Max had sex with Tess. She claimed that the baby was dying that it couldn't survive on Earth. In my search for Alex's killer, I found the translation giving Tess a way off planet. The Royal Four were about to leave the planet when things began coming together for me. One sign of a person who has been mindwarped is the unconscious tapping of their fingers. Anyway we went to Kyle and I began asking him questions and he broke out of the mindwarp. He had seen Tess kill Alex and she had him move the body out of the house and into the car. We rushed to the Granolith to stop them. Tess was exposed but Max let her go because of the baby."

"A few months later Max was on a search to find the two spaceships they arrived on. One wouldn't work and the other the government spirited away once Max found it. Tess reenters the story a few weeks before we graduate. She arrived by spaceship with Zan her and Max's baby. The FBI had been watching the skies in Roswell since Tess had blasted off in the Granolith the previous spring. They got to the ship and hid it at the old base outside of town. Tess regained consciousness while the scientists were trying to open the ship. She killed every single person on that base to get out. It was all recorded on video and the military stepped in locking the town down trying to find her and the baby. Tess let the military kill her to save her child and get them off our backs.”

“But remnants of the Special Unit converged on Roswell intent on eliminating the alien threat. The only two they knew were aliens for sure were Max and Tess. The rest of us were targeted because they knew we were involved. They were going to kill us at graduation with a lot of luck and a good distraction we foiled their attempt. We were on the run in a beat up old VW van after that.”

The General states, “That still doesn't explain how you ended up on Antar.”

“When the ship arrived they dreamwalked Isabel and told us where to meet them for a pick up.”

General Hammond is deeply upset. “What I do not understand is how did we not know? Is the Antarian spacecraft on a technological level of the Asgard? How many other alien races are out there coming to Earth that we know nothing about? We are the first line of defense and we knew nothing.”

Major Carter replies, "But sir we have greatly improved our deep space radar tracking system since then."

"I know Major but the President and Joint Chiefs are not going to be happy to find out how little real ability we have to perceive threats from space."

Liz asks, "What I want to know is how is the President going to react when he finds out the FBI captured and tortured an alien king and his protectors. That the government is still harrassing the kings adoptive parents and friends parents."

O'Neill quips, "Torture and kidknapping is so not good for intergalactic relations."

"Liz I'll see what I can do to call off the dogs."

"Thank you General. I would also like to know how you are going to explain me? Are you going to reveal my true background to the President and alert the NID?"

"Not at this time I want all of you to keep to the alien protector story in your reports. We don't need any interference by the NID at this time. Liz I would like for you to continue on with your story."

Many thanks to Sablaine the Queen of commas!

Chapter 7

“On the trip to Antar we were apprised of the true situation. The Royal Four had been expecting a triumphant return. They naively thought all they would have to do was arrive and the populace would rise up against Khivar. Fifty or so years under Khivar’s rule had thoroughly crushed the spirit of the Antarian people. He purged the populace of anyone born with power. He destroyed the aristocratic houses that opposed him down to the last babe. His loyal supporters were raised to the nobility. Khivar plays the remnants of the old nobility against the new so they don’t have time to plot against him.”

“The Middle Class is almost non-existent now. All trade is controlled by the crown who grants monopolies to a few noble houses. The free folk have been busted back down into serfdom. Only the very rich or well-connected are being educated and the subjects have to be approved by Khivar. In fact, he fancies himself quite the historian. His revised History of Antar is about as much fun to read as Marx or Hitler. Soon Antar will not be able to sustain the technological level they achieved before Khivar took over.”

General Hammond asks, “What kind of armed forces does he have?”

“He has plenty of guards; it is the only job free folk can take with guaranteed pay. They use stun weapons instead of projectile. Khivar does have a core of elite troops who are trained in weapons, tactics, and hand to hand combat. The real problem is the Morrigu.”

Daniel interrupts, “Morrigu? It sounds Celtic.”

General Hammond asks, “Dr. Jackson, what can you tell us of the Morrigu?”

“Celtic Mythology is not my area of expertise but I’ll tell you what I remember. Morrigu is derived from The Morrigan, a Celtic tri-partite goddess. Morrigan comes from the Gaelic Mor Rigan which translates as Great Queen. She is the Celtic goddess of war, fate, death, prophecy, and passionate love. The triad of goddesses also includes Badb meaning fury and Macha meaning battle.”

“The Morrigan is the prophetess of all misfortune in battle and has knowledge of the fate of humanity. In one of the myths I read she is referred to as the “Washer at the Ford.” Those who see her washing bloody laundry prior to a battle are destined to die. The Morrigan is reputed to be a shape shifter who reigned over the battlefield. Her most recognized form is that of a black crow. In the Tain Bo Cuailnge it tells of her assuming the guise of maiden, crone, and crow. A known Goa’uld equivalent would be Nirrti or Hathor.”

General Hammond orders, “Liz, if you would please continue.”

"The Morrigu are unlike anything I have ever encountered. The Morrigu are always men, standing at the shortest 6 and a half feet tall, with long hair in warrior's braids. They go into battle shirtless and their torsos are covered with tattoos, mainly spiral designs in yellow and blue interspersed with black birds.”

Dr. Jackson asks, “Do they bear a tattoo on their foreheads like Teal’c’s?”

“Yes, of a black bird.”

Jack moans, “What are the ancient Irish doing on Antar?”

Dr. Jackson ignores Jack and asks, “Did you see any other signs indicating the race of the Morrigu?”

“No. They arrived on Antar a few years before we did.”

General Hammond asks, “Do you know where they came from?”

“The Morrigu arrived as body guards for a trade delegate from the outer rim of the Whirlwind Galaxy. The delegate left and they stayed with Khivar becoming his personal bodyguards and enforcers. The Morrigu are feared and hated more so than Khivar, and their casual brutality is unmatched.”

Teal'c asks, "Why do they go into battle without armor?"

"I would imagine it is hard to get it around their wings."

"Wings!"

Carter exclaims, "But Sir, that's not possible!"

"Major, may I remind you that I am a product of genetic manipulation. If human scientists could create me just imagine the possibilities of a race that has existed for millennia."

Unsure of Liz’s latest revelation General Hammond decides to take control of the meeting again. "People, can we get back to the topic at hand? Liz, I have a few questions. Why did King Max risk exposure to save you?"

“At the time he was in love with me.”

“Are you still involved with Max?”

“No, I am his ex-wife.”

Stunned Carter blurts out, “If you were his queen how could he divorce you?”

“Several reasons actually. The Queen Mother sent two sets of pods to Earth. They contained the recreated essences of her son King Zan, his wife Queen Ava, his sister Princess Vilondra, and his best friend and Warlord Rath. The set sent to New York were the duplicates or decoys if you will. If one of the original Royal Four were to die then there was a backup for the seal to transfer to. The Isabel and Michael of the duplicate set cut a deal with Khivar to go home. They murdered Zan their version of Max and went to Roswell to convince Max to attend the summit in New York. They believed Max would be easy to control as he had no clue what was truly going on. Max and Tess went back with them leaving Ava, their version of Tess, with us. Ava split and we didn’t see her again until the rendezvous with the Antarians.”

“The Antarian delegation was extremely surprised to see me there. They were very offended by my presence because they believed Max was already married to Ava and his rebirth didn’t change that fact. They didn’t want to accept a human queen but Max refused to have anything to do with Ava after Tess’ betrayal. Ava, at the time, had no desire to be with Max after the way her Zan had treated her. So the delegates had to live with it. They were somewhat mollified when they found out that I had powers. During the trip to Antar I had another growth spurt in my powers. I was having a terrible time adjusting to the new power level and Max asked the healers to look me over. In the tests they ran they discovered my DNA cocktail. They reported to the delegates that I wasn’t fully human - I was in their words a mongrel. To this day I don‘t know exactly what they told Max but he never saw me as a person again. I became a thing, a liar, a betrayer, a killer. Michael, Isabel, and Ava never had a problem with it. Michael and Is were hurt that I never told them but they understood. We were on the run and I couldn’t betray my family. The delegates contacted some Antarian refugees here on Earth and began divorce proceedings on Max’s behalf. By the time we arrived on Antar it was done.”

Carter asks, ”Why did you stay?”

“I had no where else to go. Earth isn’t safe for me and The Antarians weren’t going to take the time or expense to send me back. Given my history Michael asked me to help train whoever they recruited to the cause.”

“After everything Max did to you how could you help him regain his throne?”

“It was the plight of the people that swayed me. No one deserves to live that kind of life. Poverty, disease, malnutrition were decimating the free folk. Khivar had the resources, the ability to help his people, but he doesn’t because he rules through fear.”

“And you believe Max won’t?”

“No, it’s personal between Max and I." Noting their skeptical expressions Liz adds, "Max has had to learn some hard lessons during our years on Antar, one being that his people view him as a half-breed. He has to work twice as hard to prove that he is just as good as a pure bred Antarian. The Antarians were wary of me at first but now I'm more popular than Max and Ava. Ironic isn't it?"

Jack quips, "I'd call it poetic justice."

General Hammond questions, "How is the war progressing?"

"We control about a quarter of Antar. There are rebel cells all over planet. Supplies, mainly food and weapons, are always in short supply. If we were just fighting Khivar's guard forces we would've won already. Our biggest problem is the Morrigu's shielding technology. Those shields are impervious to projectile and stun weapons. If you can get close enough a knife works wonders."

General Hammond questions, "How did you get captured?"

"I fought off the Morrigu so the Royal Four could escape. There were just too many of them and I was eventually overpowered."

General Hammond questions, "How long were you Khivar's prisoner?"

Liz gives a little shrug. "I quit counting after 60 days."

"The Royal Four didn't attempt to rescue you?"

"Not to my knowledge. Now can you answer a question for me? Have you ever seen a golden coffin that brings the dead back to life?”

Chapter 8

Liz walks into an ambush in the conference room; Daniel and Sam are waiting for her. She stands at ease, her face an expressionless mask. Daniel and Sam are unnerved by the thinly veiled contempt in her eyes. Daniel takes a deep breath and begins, "Liz we wanted to talk to you. We know you don't like us and as your father's closest friends we would like to try and remedy the situation."

Voice flat she replies, "I don't trust you, therefore I have no use for you."

Affronted Daniel asks, "What could we have done to possibly offend you?"

Maintaining her calm facade she answers, "You broke something precious to me."

Bewildered Sam asks, "What?"

"My father's heart." Liz watches their faces drain of color in satisfaction as her words sink in. "The whole base knows you two are having an affair, including my father. How am I supposed to trust when you knowingly betrayed my father in such a manner? If you two were truly in love, in time it would be forgivable, but what you have between the two of you is just lust. He loves the both of you so much that he has sunk his career for the two of you and this is how you repay him?"

If possible Sam pales even further, "What do you mean sunk his career?"

Daniel snorts. "Jack's capable of doing that all on his own."

Liz focuses her ire on Daniel. "You are so proud of not being in the military. You blatantly disregard orders but who do you think pays for it each time you thumb your nose at the teams’ orders? How many times have you been told simply not to touch anything? How many soldiers have died getting your sorry bleeding heart ass out of jams? Who do you think has ultimate responsibility for your actions on a military endeavor? Dad, that's who! His file is so thick of reprimands garnered because of you."

Daniel stammers, "But I..."

"But nothing! Your rocks and your moral superiority are what's most important to you. You're so quick to defend the rights of every culture you meet of every planet you step foot on. What I want to know is when are your teammates going to come first? When is Earth going to come first? Especially when is my father going to become a priority?"

Sam interrupts, "That's not fair!"

"Oh, Sam, you are just as guilty you've been on the same team for how many years without getting your own command? You're a brilliant scientist and you let it override your military training. You can't be trusted to not get distracted. Because of the two of you civilian scientists are being phased out on first contact teams."

In a tight voice Sam answers, "A relationship with Jack would be against regulations."

"Regulations are just the excuse you use; he has told you when you are ready he would figure something out, retire even. You've held him off for years and then you take up with his supposed best friend! Some soulmate you are. I'd give anything for one more second with mine and you toss yours away like yesterday's rubbish."

A firm voice interrupts, "Elizabeth, you have said enough." Liz sighs knowing her tirade is over. She sends one more murderous glare towards Sam and Daniel before turning to Teal'c.

Teal'c brings Liz down to the gym to work off some of her anger. As they are sparring Teal’c catches a glimpse of her bar code. He halts their training. "Liz, what is the marking on the back of your neck?"

Sighing she answers, "Damn, I thought I had it covered." Teal’c looks at her quizzically.

She reaches up and touches the golden tattoo on his forehead. "You bear the mark of Apophis upon your forehead. It marked you as property as a slave. The mark on my neck is a barcode branding me as property of the government. I was created to serve to be an instrument of silence."

His gaze brimming with sorrow he replies, "I also understand what it means to serve or die. I joined the Tau’ri because they are the best chance my people have at attaining freedom. Are the rest of your people free?"

"No, only a few of us survived the escape. So many more wouldn’t even try; they couldn’t even conceive of the idea of freedom. Those of us that escaped were the first to be created by our masters. The doctors, the military, none of them could program us to their satisfaction. We refused to be known by just our barcodes; we chose names for ourselves. We managed to carve identities for ourselves to become a family. I miss them. I miss my family. I need to know that they are safe. And someday, somehow I will achieve freedom for the rest of them."

Teal’c clasps her shoulder. "When you are ready I am at your service."

Overcome with emotion she can barely stammer out a thank you.

He bows his head in acknowledgment. "We must refresh ourselves and meet your father for lunch."

Author's Note: On the actual Stargate show Daniel and Sam are only friends. Jack and Sam have admited and acted on the feelings they have for each other. BUT because he is her CO nothing has come of it they put the team before their personal relationship. TPTB just tease us every once in a while and give us a moment between them. But for story purposes I have Sam and Daniel having an affair.

The bugs that will be referenced in this chapter are the Replicators. They eat metal, consume energy, and absorb all new technology they come across. They replicate themseleves which makes them unblievably abundant and hard as hell to destroy. The Asgard are fighting to save their homeworld from them.

As for Alex the sarcophagus can only regenerate someone recently dead so he won't be making an appearance in the story.

Enjoy!

Chapter 9

Liz, Jack and Teal’c are holed up in a corner table in the cafeteria eating pie. Pensive Liz asks, "Dad, do you think General Hammond would let me off base?"

Eyebrows raised, Jack pauses mid bite. "You wanna leave me already?"

Rolling her eyes she replies, "N-o-o, I haven’t contacted my siblings in over four years. I need to know that they are OK, that they haven’t been recaptured by Manticore."

"We’ll just add that to the ever growing list."

"List?" questions Teal’c.

"Yeah you know the ‘How to save the universe from the bad guys list.’"

Liz grins, "What else is on the list?"

Jack raises his hand to count off. "One we find your siblings, two blow up Manticore, three exterminate the bugs, four save the Asgard, five free the Jaffa, six destroy the Morrigu, and seven annihilate the Goa’uld."

"Gee, dad, you make it sound so easy. So, O’ wise one, you have a plan on how to pull all of this off?"

"Yousurebetcha! We simply have to kill a few snakes, then your siblings and the Jaffa would be free. Now the Asgard need…." Brown eyes meet brown eyes as Liz and Jack are struck by the same idea. "We have to call Thor."

Jack and Liz leave the table in a rush at they door they realize Teal’c is still sitting at the table looking completely baffled. Jack calls out, "T, come on buddy."

A few hours later Thor beams Liz, Jack and Teal’c aboard his battle cruiser. A child size gray being inclines his head to the trio. "Greetings, O’Neill, Teal’c."

Smiling proudly Jack introduces Liz. "Thor, I’d like for you to meet my daughter Liz."

Thor extends his tiny gray hand out in the traditional Earth manner. He is unprepared for the flashes he receives from Liz. The emotional highlights of her life pass before him. He drops her hand and gently touches her cheek, "You are truly O’Neill’s daughter."

Tearing up Liz replies, "That’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me."

Thor turns to Jack, "O’Neill, what do you require of me?"

"Liz and I have the beginnings of a plan a grand plan to take care of some of the universe’s problems."

"Proceed, O’Neill."

Liz looks to her father and begins, "I want to destroy Manticore and free the transgenics. But on Earth we would never be free; certain governmental would never stop seeking us. Dad has told me that the Asgard have made Earth a protected world. I want to know if there is another such world where the transgenics could go a world where we would be accepted and free."

Thor asks, "What would you give in return?"

"Dad told me of the Asgard’s need of certain human DNA to stop your population from dying out. As you know from my memories, Manticore has been manipulating human DNA for over 50 years. I offer Manticore’s research and genetic samples in exchange for the Asgard’s help."

"Including your own?"

Liz replies, "I’ll give it to you now if you like."

Thor stares at Liz for a moment before turning his attention to Jack. "O’Neill what is the rest of your plan?"

"After we destroy Manticore and get the kids settled on their new home world, we have the Asgard introduce them to us and we become allies. The X5’s abilities are more than a match against regular Jaffa and we desperately need them to fight against the Morrigu."

Shocked Thor says, "O’Neill, the Morrigu were destroyed centuries ago."

Liz replies, "You saw some of my memories of Antar. The Morrigu are there. Khivar sent them against the Royal Four. I fought against the Morrigu, giving the royals time to escape. It is how I was captured and met my father."

Thor questions, "I have never heard of any Goa’uld named Khivar."

Liz answers, "The Tok’ra believe that one of The Morrigan’s lieutenants is in control of Khivar."

Thor states, "This is grave news indeed. I must confer with the council."
As Thor beams out Jack turns to Teal’c. "T, you have been awful quiet. Whatcha think?"

"A bold plan, O’Neill. You have justified my faith in choosing you over Apophis."

Liz asks, "How much time do we have before they discover we are missing from the base?"

Jack looks at his watch, "A few hours."

"If the Asgard agree, I need a cover story. Why didn't I immediately ask to see the Asgard when I regained my memories?"

"You didn't know Earth was an Asgard protectorate," answers, Jack.

Liz asks, "Ok, so what race am I from?" Stumped, Liz and Jack are silent.

Teal'c gains their attention. "If I may make a suggestion?"

"Yeah, T?"

"I have been studying Earth mythology in regards to the Asgard. Thanes were free warriors pledged to a lord. Elizabeth's race is one of warriors. They could be the Thanes pledged to support Thor and the Asgard in return for their help in saving Elizabeth's people."

"Perfect."
