Prologue:
As I walked down the hallway of West Roswell, the usual sounds of chatter and locker slamming I knew it was just another year at high school. As if someone was reading my mind…
“THIS IS SO NOT ANOTHER YEAR LIZ!” I turn towards the voice and its none other than my best friend Maria; she is wearing one of her original outfits today. She has on a pair of SHORT shorts that are bright neon like green and a light pink tank top, which shows off just a bit of stomach. Her hair is shoulder length and today she has it down and with a slight wave in it. Now Maria and I have been friends since … forever, or at least as long as I can remember.
“Maria, come on its only our junior year…what could possibly special about it?” She tends to get over excited about some things, like this one time when Billy Wood in our English class turned 16, Maria went all out for him singing and everything. But I am getting past the point….
“Liz we are no longer LOWER classmen! We are upper classmen, and may I add we are some HOT upperclassmen!” I laugh at Maria, cause not only has she lost her mind but she just called me hot! Now I am not saying I am ugly I look alright I just … am more of a plain Jane as some may say.
“Maria...” Shaking my head in defeat I turn and walk towards our lockers and Maria falls in step with me.
“Ok Well guess what I so totally heard from Amy who heard from her friend Beth who heard in the movie theatre yesterday…where may I say Beth was with Tommy you know from our French class ... well getting to my point Beth heard from Isabel that there are 2 new guys!!” Covering my ears to save myself from the shriek Maria let out.
“Really?” I am actually intrigued
“Yeah, I guess the older one who is a senior is Michael and his brother um… what was it…” Maria stares off in to space trying to recall his name; I reach for the lock and begin to twirl in the combo.
“Max!” Maria shouts triumphantly, and she begins to twirl in her combo.
“Who..?” What is she talking about again...oh the new guy?
“Sorry it took me awhile, but personally I think this Michael may be a bit interesting… they moved here from… now brace yourself… LA!! The BEST place on EARTH!” Maria yells dramatically, causing a couple head to turn in our direction.
“Omigod Maria that’s AMAZING...” I finish with a sarcastic tone.
“Hey no joke, now LA boys…hey hey” She says wiggling her eyebrows at me
“True true…” I fumble through my locker making sure I have all the stuff I may need for today.
“So Liz, have you seen Alex this morning I thought he was starting mission bag-iz today?” – OH YEAH, I forgot to mention Alex he is our other best friend the 3rd to our musketeer group. He isn’t the type of drop dead hunk you would normally like but he has his personality and he isn’t completely bad looking, but he cares more about what's on the inside.
“Oh yeah I completely forgot about it… well I haven’t seen him but I am sure he is here” I glance up and down the hallway for any sight of him, but instead I see a goy I have never seen before, he has dark brown hair that has the messy look going on his skin bronzed from the summer sun he has on a pair of baggy khaki shorts and a simple gray t-shirt. He was staring down at what I think was either his schedule or just some paper, he looked up to where he was and I saw his eyes. He wasn’t close enough for me the get the details but from what I saw, I wouldn’t complain his eyes where soft with a honey amber tone that seemed to look right past me. That’s when I realized a guy like that could never like some one like me.

Part 1 liv POV
Part 1
“Earth to Liz?” I was thrown from thoughts by a hand waving in front of my face disrupting my view of the Greek God.
“Oh …what? Alex! Hey when did you get here” Alex shifted his weight back and forth, and nervously looked around.
“Well, actually I have been here for a while…” Where was he then
“So where were you? And how is mission Iz playing out??” I slowly shut my locker and glanced once more in the direction of the God, but he was lost from my sight, that happens when you as short as me. I turned back to face Alex, I saw Maria over his shoulder very intent on reapplying her makeup while looking in her locker mirror.
“Well I got here early and I found out her schedule-“ Alex said while fumbling through his pockets, then pulling out a slip of paper “And it turns out we will have 3rd and 6th block together and also lunch and Study Hall… So I am hoping for today’s goal is to say ‘Hi’ and sit with her in one of the four times we share a class or lunch” Plastering a goofy grin across his face, I smile back and sling my arm over his shoulder while pulling a reluctant Maria away from her locker.
“So guys we have at least 30 minutes before school is to start… you guys just want to go sit in the grove?”
“Yeah … good plan maybe I can see this Michael man” I grin over at Maria, cause once she has her sights on something she wont stop till she’s got it.
“I hope Isabel is there too, because I saw her get here this morning” After mentioning Isabel Alex was a goner he had his ‘I’m in love with Isabel’ look on so we knew he was no longer really paying attention.
“Oh Maria, I saw this guy this morning he was beyond hot, I think he might be one of the new guys you where telling me about what was it Max and Michael?”
Maria whips her head towards me and I can tell she wants more…
“What, I only saw him for like 19 seconds but all I can say was he was drop dead-“
“Liz, hello... What are you looking at- OMIGOD “Maria shrieked finally seeing what I had saw.
It was none other than the Greek god himself, whoa… it wasn’t till then I realized who was with him… Tess, I can sum her up in five words, blond-bitch-big boobs-slut. What more does the average guy really need to know? Right?
She was already clinging to his arm like some little puppy who couldn’t walk, god did I mention I hate her, just looking at her I can feel my blood begin to boil but what can I really say I would pick the hottie over a plain Jane any day too.
“Liz who is that hunk of man over there?” She said pointing in the direction of Max and Tess, they had found a table near our usual spot. Suddenly I realized that I was going to have to walk by maybe even look in the direction, I was beginning to feel self conscious, did I want this guy to see my like this?
“Chica? What's wrong you look a little pale… you feeling alright?” Maria was looking me over as if I had grown a second head.
“No…I’m fine really, just tired you know no more 13 hours of sleep...” Maria laughed lightly at me and grabbing my wrist dragged me towards our usual spot beneath a old oak tree.
Omigod, only about 12 feet between us, my heart to be slamming against my chest with no sign of stopping to ease any of this slight ting a pain.
Maria looks over her shoulder with a ‘what’s up with you look?’ and turns back around, I try to stay rooted in my spot as to not draw attention to myself.
But it didn’t help Maria is a lot stronger than she actually looks, cause she is effortlessly dragging me closer and closer to the unknown hottie. OH no we about three feet almost past him, when his beautiful amber eyes look up and lock with mine. I wish I could look away and run, but the second I made eye contact I was lost; a warm gentle feeling began to take over. Unable to look away, I just stare at him like a deer caught in head lights, “Hey” oh god his voice is husky and deep with a rich tone, so much better than I thought it would be…
“I’m Max, and you are?” His warm amber eyes looked at me, they practically glowed.
I glanced over my shoulder at who he could possibly be talking to, but all I see Maria gaping at us with an amused grin on her face, reaching out she gives me a slight nudge, I stumble a bit and choke out …
“Oh yeah- hey … I’m Elizabeth I mean, wait no I’m Liz yeah call me Liz” Feeling the blush on my cheeks heat up I know I probably look like a tomato, looking around the table everyone is trying to suppress their laughter, now that I have completely mortified myself I think its ok if I leave. Turning on my heels, quickly grabbing Maria’s wrist I pull her and I under our tree, Alex who disappeared suddenly appears at my side with a Pepsi in his hand.
“Want some?” He says holding the can close to my mouth; I just stare at the ground trying to find something interesting about the rock in front of me. I hear Maria tell in excruciating the tale of me completely embarrassing myself in front of new hot student at WRHS.
When I knew Maria had finished I looked towards the table he- I mean Max was sitting at and sighed, maybe one day he and I could be friends and maybe even more.
Maria and Alex and I mostly spent the last few minutes of our free time planning our first weekend and sharing in all stories we had heard of gossip that has already begun to spread around school.
Lunch:
“Ok So I have AP chemistry next, then ….” Glancing at my schedule I let out a frustrated sigh “Art.. Can you believe that I ask for no art, I suck at art I swear these guidance people just like to see you suffer?” Throwing my hands around dramatically to emphasize my point, looking at Alex who is looking over his schedule also quips back at me “Well I have computer science so that kicks ass… hey we have art together! Nice! Maybe we can fail together… remember that memorial painting we had to do in 3rd grade… my god our dogs looked like dead seagulls!” Leaning over the table Alex pats my head “No worries dear, we will be in it together!”
Laughing I yell enthusiastically “Till the end my brother!” Giving one of that stupid pat the chest fist thingy, Alex and I roll over in laughter.
“Have any of you seen Michael yet, I hear he has this rocker look going on… not a problem with me I like a little roughness in a man” Barely able to contain my laughter, I quickly reply
“Yeah so rough he’ll paint your toe nails right?”
“Hey that was once alright! How did I know guys didn’t like doing that…”
“Um .. well one reason they might not is ….CAUSE THEY ARE GUYS”
“Hey Liz guys could enjoy giving a pedicure, our friend Alex did till he found out the other guys didn’t do it…” We all break into a fit of laughter unaware of the two people standing in front of us.
“Et hum-“Coughs the first figure, I look up to MAX... And those beautiful amber eyes that seem so … peaceful? - ok never mind
But he wasn’t the one who coughed, this guy had lighter hair and it was spiked and he was wearing black Metallic shirt with a pair of jean baggy shorts, with a chain from the front into his wallet.
“Hey, Liz-“Gesturing to the other guy” This is Michael, my older brother…”
Mike only let out a growl which could have been a hello, or a death threat but who knows.
“Well we were wondering if we could sit with you guys. Maybe you guys would like to show us around town after school?” Max stuttered and bit and Mike rolled his eyes and spat out, “you might as well said…’Will you be my friends??’ that might have been quicker and to the point” Looking around like he didn’t give a shit Mike shifted from one foot to the other. He’s good straight forward and just a bit of sarcasms, Maria is going to have some fun I see.
But before anyone could really answer them I waved my hand for them to sit “Yeah come join, so what classes do you guys have?”

To fill you guys in on what been happening at Roswell high since you last left us, I’ll give you the quick version.
Max and I are like best friends
Michael and Maria have been dating for 8 months now, after 4 months of fighting we found them in the eraser room becoming... Friends?
Alex and Isabel against Iz’s snobby friend’s better judgment began dating Alex 3 months ago
And the news that caused me to come close to a heart attack …
As of 4 months 3 days, 6 hrs 45 minutes and 23..24..25 seconds ago (seconds still keep going) … Max has been dating the one and only…..Tess Harding

~flashback~
I see Maria practically running through the bodies of students in the hall between 3rd and 4th period classes. I shut my locker and lean against it, “Liz omigod I had to find you before you heard it from anyone other than yours truly…” Her face was red from running through the halls and her breath was ragged, she breathed in deep before grabbing my shoulders and in a very serious tone saying…
“Honey I know you aren’t going to like this but … Max asked Tess out and they are a couple officially now” She stares at my eyes trying to read what I am thinking but I mask my emotions cause I am not sure I am really feeling anything, its more like being blank. How can it really be, Max and Tess? Erlack, I physically cringe from the thought of those two sharing any intimate moments in the eraser room that Tess is famous for.
“Chica? You okay … I know you always had a thing for max-“That’s where I interrupted her.
“What you thought I had a thing for MAX, our friend MAX ha… gurl you have been sniffing the cedar oil way to much this weekend” Placing the back of my hand to Maria’s head, she gives me a small smile and pushes my hand off her forehead and puts her arm loosely over my shoulder and sighs.
“Chica don’t try and hide things from me because you know all those looks you give him you mine as well jump on him and fulfill you naughtiest fantasies” Though I know Maria is joking I cant help but think about maybe a day when max might sleep in the same bed as me and want to do more than talk about the latest movie we saw.

Maria and I head down the hall towards our English class which we have Alex and Michael in also. As we get closer to the door I can see Alex’s hair and Michaels spiky head, Alex is talking to mike and he seems to be paying attention so this must mean one thing… They are talking about Brave heart
We reach Mike and Alex at the door “Dude the body count is way more than 300-hey Liz hey Ria- cause in the battle you see at least 100 die right off the back” They continue there conversation, Mike grabs Maria’s arm gently and pulls her over and gives her a soft kiss while she just cuddles against Mike chest while he goes on talking about his count is more accurate than Alex’s. I laugh at my friends, who make for an unusual group but we fit together better like a puzzle.
“Hey Guys!” I hear a familiar voice yell from down the hall, I turn just in time to see Max slightly jog up next to me, resting his hand on the small of my back he gives me a wink, “Hey can I’m staying at your house tonight… right?” Leaning in inches away from my face with his puppy eyes his lip pouted, how can you resist?
“Yeah my parents don’t care….” His eyes light up and he wraps is arms around me, and is it me or hot in here?
“That’s awesome… After school I’ll just go grab something’s from my house and I’ll come to the Crash...” Looking towards the rest of the group “What movie do we want I can grab one?”
Maria goes to say something when Michael’s hand covers her slightly open mouth “Maxwell my boy, if you for any reason listen to what this spitfire might say and get a chick flick I will honest to god kill you” Max puts on a fake hurt look,
“You think that I mike would get a chick flick?”
“I don’t care what you said last week I know when you and Liz picked that it wasn’t Liz who wanted to see Thelma and Louise…” I giggle at Mike’s comment cause its true I had seen it but max had never so he suggested we get it, obviously Mike doesn’t like anything unless it rhymes with …HraveBeart.
“Well I heard that movie the notebook came out today, if ya guys want to go see that instead??” Giving Mike a wink I add “It’s a good love story, there’s even some war fighting in it”
Maria whose mouth is still covered nods her head with force, mumbling “Eye runt do mee met” Alex laughs, “Yeah we could invite Isabel too!” We all let out a sigh.
“Yeah go find her before her friends do…” With that Alex’s eye brighten and he runs or more like scrambles to go find her. So here I am standing next to the man of my dreams, and he’s probably thinking about his slut of a girlfriend Tess…
“Hey Max Tess coming tonight?” My heart sinks at this point dreading the words that will come out of his mouth.
“Nah, she’s going to her Step Moms for the weekend... so I’m all yours” He says throwing a sly smile at me, that makes my body heat up and sends shivers down my back. I look over at Mike and Maria who are currently swapping some major spit; I turn to look at max who is also caught up watching Maria and Mike. He turns to me and his cheeks turn a light shade of pink, cause he knows I caught him staring.
“So what should we do ... rent or go to the movie?” His eyes are so gorgeous, this close I can stare into the little flecks or gold in the amber pools, they have a life of their own. I can always tell what max is thinking by his eyes depending on his mood is how his eyes look.
“I really want to see ‘The Notebook’…” He is so beautiful…
“Yeah that’s fine with me cause you know” Reaching up and running his hand up my arm and resting his hand on my cheek he leans in very close and whispers.
“Every great Love… has a great story” I can’t help but look at his full lips wondering what they would feel like. I can feel my cheeks burning and I she max smile at my reaction.
“Evans you’re so corny….” I say mockingly “Next thing I know your going to be quoting Moulin Rouge cause only god knows how many times you watch that”
Max’s smile drops and is replaced with a look of shock that make me laugh.
Dropping his tone he whispers “How did you know I watch that?”
“Max-“ I say resting my hands on his shoulders “I have been your best friend for a year now, and I have been in your room don’t think I never noticed the DVD box you left next to your bed”
He reaches up to his shoulders and grabs my hand and in a loud dramatic voice begins singing “Never knew I could feel like this, Like I've never seen the sky before

He swings he around still singing twirling me, this is causing more than a couple to turn there heads. I am bright red with humiliation, I see a boy out of the corner of my eye, with a camera I know he is on the yearbook committee I can’t help but laugh at the thought of this begin in the year book. I see a flash, and I know he took a picture. I look back to max who is still singing “Come what may…Come what may…I will love you until my dying day” and he pulls me right up to him and for once I feel as if he is looking at me truly looking at me and his eyes flash with an emotion I have never seen before. Giving in I begin to twirl and swing with max both or us not caring anymore who was watching.
“Oh, come what may, come what may

suddenly the world seems such a perfect place”

I shut my locker and lean against it, “Liz omigod I had to find you before you heard it from anyone other than yours truly…” Her face was red from running through the halls and her breath was ragged, she breathed in deep before grabbing my shoulders and in a very serious tone saying…
“Honey I know you aren’t going to like this but … Max asked Tess out and they are a couple officially now” She stares at my eyes trying to read what I am thinking but I mask my emotions cause I am not sure I am really feeling anything, its more like being blank. How can it really be, Max and Tess? Erlack, I physically cringe from the thought of those two sharing any intimate moments in the eraser room that Tess is famous for.
“Chica? You okay … I know you always had a thing for max-“That’s where I interrupted her.
“What you thought I had a thing for MAX, our friend MAX ha… gurl you have been sniffing the cedar oil way to much this weekend” Placing the back of my hand to Maria’s head, she gives me a small smile and pushes my hand off her forehead and puts her arm loosely over my shoulder and sighs.

I laugh at my friends, who make for an unusual group but we fit together better like a puzzle.
“Hey Guys!” I hear a familiar voice yell from down the hall, I turn just in time to see Max slightly jog up next to me, resting his hand on the small of my back he gives me a wink, “Hey can I’m staying at your house tonight… right?” Leaning in inches away from my face with his puppy eyes his lip pouted, how can you resist?

“That’s awesome… After school I’ll just go grab something’s from my house and I’ll come to the Crash...” Looking towards the rest of the group “What movie do we want I can grab one?”

“Well I heard that movie the notebook came out today, if ya guys want to go see that instead??” Giving Mike a wink I add “It’s a good love story, there’s even some war fighting in it”
Maria whose mouth is still covered nods her head with force, mumbling “Eye runt do mee met” Alex laughs, “Yeah we could invite Isabel too!” We all let out a sigh.
“Yeah go find her before her friends do…” With that Alex’s eye brighten and he runs or more like scrambles to go find her. So here I am standing next to the man of my dreams, and he’s probably thinking about his slut of a girlfriend Tess…
“Hey Max Tess coming tonight?” My heart sinks at this point dreading the words that will come out of his mouth.
“Nah, she’s going to her Step Moms for the weekend... so I’m all yours” He says throwing a sly smile at me, that makes my body heat up and sends shivers down my back. I look over at Mike and Maria who are currently swapping some major spit; I turn to look at max who is also caught up watching Maria and Mike. He turns to me and his cheeks turn a light shade of pink, cause he knows I caught him staring.
“So what should we do ... rent or go to the movie?” His eyes are so gorgeous, this close I can stare into the little flecks or gold in the amber pools, they have a life of their own. I can always tell what max is thinking by his eyes depending on his mood is how his eyes look.
“I really want to see ‘The Notebook’…” He is so beautiful…
“Yeah that’s fine with me cause you know” Reaching up and running his hand up my arm and resting his hand on my cheek he leans in very close and whispers.
“Every great Love… has a great story” I can’t help but look at his full lips wondering what they would feel like. I can feel my cheeks burning and I she max smile at my reaction.
“Evans you’re so corny….” I say mockingly “Next thing I know your going to be quoting Moulin Rouge cause only god knows how many times you watch that”
Max’s smile drops and is replaced with a look of shock that make me laugh.
Dropping his tone he whispers “How did you know I watch that?”
“Max-“ I say resting my hands on his shoulders “I have been your best friend for a year now, and I have been in your room don’t think I never noticed the DVD box you left next to your bed”
He reaches up to his shoulders and grabs my hand and in a loud dramatic voice begins singing “Never knew I could feel like this, Like I've never seen the sky before

He swings he around still singing twirling me, this is causing more than a couple to turn there heads. I am bright red with humiliation, I see a boy out of the corner of my eye, with a camera I know he is on the yearbook committee I can’t help but laugh at the thought of this begin in the year book. I see a flash, and I know he took a picture. I look back to max who is still singing “Come what may…Come what may…I will love you until my dying day” and he pulls me right up to him and for once I feel as if he is looking at me truly looking at me and his eyes flash with an emotion I have never seen before. Giving in I begin to twirl and swing with max both or us not caring anymore who was watching.

MAX POV
I stare in shock at my best friend Liz as she suddenly begins singing the lyrics with me, we dance around for a couple seconds. Her long brown hair shines under the lighting of the hall, her eyes glow with laughter and her smile lights the entire hall. I don’t think I have ever realized how beautiful she really was, she’s more of the natural beauty unlike Tess who spends hours getting ready for our dates only to unprepared when I get there. With one last spin Liz comes to face me, her cheeks pink with embarrassment yet a smile graced on her lips.
“Well thank you my dear for the dance” I say with a little bow, I look around to notice the many people who have stopped to watch us. Most let out a clap and continue on there way. Liz laughs at my attempt at a bow and does a beautiful curtsy, “The pleasure was all mine, you kind gentlemen” With a slight laugh she stands and punches my shoulder lightly.
“Aren’t you two the cutest” Chuckles an amused Maria her voice higher than normal.
“Yeah Maxwell… nice moves on ya!” Mike quips, holding back his laughter.
The pink on my cheeks darkens, glancing over at Liz who seems very at ease, she looks up at me and shrugs and with relaxed tone says “If you got it flaunt it”. Liz glides by me and the scent of strawberries fills my nose, giving me a tingling sensation all over. Maria and Mike who are standing together against the wall wait for Liz to go in the classroom before speaking.
“Why did you ever ask Tess out ? You and Liz are so much more ….right” Maria says then looking at Mike for back up. Mike just looks at me and nods and gives Maria a quick kiss, “I better get in class also”.
“See you at lunch then”
“Yep.. And try not to harass your teacher this time…” Mike adds, with a sly smile.
“Get to class space boy…” Maria says rolling her eyes in irritation.
“See ya Maxwell” Mike says with a wave as he turns into the classroom.
I watch as Mike walks through the class and sits next to Liz, saying something that makes her face light up and let out a amused laugh. I smile at the sound of her laugh, it’s a perfect laugh to me not to loud or quiet but just right. I sigh wishing I had a class with Liz, “Ahem”. I look behind me at Maria who has her arms crossed over her chest, “You got it bad don’t you?” I have no idea what she is talking about.
“Huh? Maria you’re not making much sense now dear” I say back, with a raised eyebrow.
“Max, Max , Max come on I have known you a year… ok it doesn’t seem like a long time but we bonded this summer and I cant pretty much read you like a book” She says truthfully, wrapping her arm around my shoulder we continue to walk down the hall.
“I think everyone knows except you...well we all know you like Liz”-
“WHAT?” I say raising my voice in shock, stopping abruptly Maria turns and faces me. She lets out a sigh and looks up at me “You can’t be serious… Max every time you look at her, we can see it. It’s like you change your whole self shifts and you glow…figuratively of course.” Stopping for a second, she looks at her watch, ”Here bells about to ring lets get to class and finish this later?” I can hear the frustration in her voice so I just nod my head and follow her to class.
“Max” I hear Maria say softly
“Yeah?” I see her looking over at me with a grin…oh no what’s up?
“Did you forget what we are?” Raising an eyebrow I shrug.

“WE ARE SENOIRS!” Laughing, I realized I had forgotten totally this was my last year ever in Roswell high maybe in Roswell all together.

MAX POV
I am still thinking about what Maria had said earlier, I can’t help it. It seems to actually explain a lot but it can’t be true because for one … I have a girlfriend.
Getting out of my car and walking through the Crash down, I see at our table a blonde head I have never seen before. Liz is sitting next to the mystery man, talking using her hands for emphasis. I wave of jealousy hits me, who does he think he is coming here and stealing my best friend. Balling my hands into fists, I see Maria come up to me, “Hey Max here come meet my cousin Sean he’s visiting for a while” I let out a sigh knowing it was just Maria’s cousin, I don’t know why I let my self get so worked up over it.
“Hey Sean” Maria said as she reached the booth, gesturing to me she said “This is Max one of my best Friend’s” The guy turns around and smiles.
“Hey Max, nice to meet ya” He says “Hey join us-“ Sean gestures towards the seat across from him.
“Hey Max” Liz says as I sit, she glances at Sean then back at me “SO how was your day?...Hey did you get a movie?”
“Movie for what?” Sean questions, looking at Liz for a answer not really paying much attention to me, not that I want it and not from him something about him give me the wrong feeling.
“Oh, well tonight a bunch of us are getting together for our movie night” She states simply, then jumps a little says “Omigod you should come, it would give us a chance to catch up, and I haven’t seen you for almost..” Pausing she thinks about it for a second then triumphantly answers “A year and half!”
“Yeah, true but I only left cause little ol’ you broke my heart” My heart practically stops right then, THEY WHERE A COUPLE? Where they even together? How long, why didn’t I know?
“ Shut up Sean, just cause I didn’t go out with you on one date doesn’t mean I broke your heart” Liz’s cheeks turn a deep pink, as she hits Sean playfully on the shoulder.
“Hey you weren’t the one turned down” Sean says with a pout, sick of watching these two I interrupted.
“Well I got the movie times for ‘The Notebook’ and its 3:30 right now and the show times are at 6:20.7:45, and 9:10”
“That’s awesome I wouldn’t mind seeing the 9:10, but I guess I’ll go ask Maria to see about her and Mike alright?” she goes to stand up then sits back down.
“What no, how about 7:45… your staying over tonight right?” MY ego swells to about the size of a hot balloon giving Sean a smirk I answer, “Yeah I am staying over”. Liz nods and crawls over Sean, and head into the back room.
“So, Max you and Parker eh?” He asks looking at the door Liz just walked through.
“Yeah” I say reaching across for Liz’s soda and taking a sip of her cherry cola.
“So how long you two going out?” I choke on the soda, gasping for air I say “I mean no we aren’t going out going out we just are the best of friends” grabbing for a napkin I wipe at a couple spots were I spilt a bit of soda.
“Oh… that’s a shame because parker is a real nice girl” Sean says slowly taking a sip of his soda.
“Well I have a girlfriend, with Liz well we are just friends” I can feel my heart thrashing against my chest, and my head begins to glisten with sweat. Sean looks up with an amused grin on his face, sitting up he runs his hand through his hair. His eyes turn back to the door; I turn around and see Liz followed by Maria walk out towards the booth.
“Hey there cuz, so you coming tonight” Maria says resting her hands on her hips.
Sean stands up letting Liz into the booth and sits back down.
“Yeah, that alright with you?” pausing for a second he continues “Can I have a will smith burger?”
Maria laughs and replies angrily “Yeah sure… with extra arsenic?” She says jotting down his order.
“Hey Ria can I have another soda Max here STOLE mine” She says giving me a fake glare.
Maria nods and faces Sean, “Yeah come tonight no prob here, just one thing…” Maria leans close to Sean’s ear and whispers to her cousin.

Sean’s eyes widen a bit and Maria stands up straightening her outfit then head to the window placing there order an head to her other customers. I look at Sean who is staring at Liz, who is pretending she doesn’t know he is staring at her. Her cheeks are a pale pink and she is trying her best not to smile, her hair falls around her face onto the table.
“So Sean” I say causing him to turn his attention off my Liz, whoa I mean Liz.
“How long you in town for?” I see him eye Liz out of the corner of his eyes, who does he think he is?
“Well actually…I am here for awhile to see how things work down here” Sean finishes, with that Liz chokes a little on her soda. What's up with these two?

“Hey Tess! What are you doing? Thought you were packing?” I say wondering why she isn’t gone yet.
“OH well-“ She says pushing her self up against me in the seat “I decided that I can see my family any time I want, I’d rather spend my time with you” She plants a sloppy kiss on my cheek.
I turn and look at Liz, she’s moved closer to Sean her legs turned into his, she’s facing back to me talking to Sean whispering in his ear, he laughs at something she said. I see his hand move onto Liz’s thigh she doesn’t do anything about it.
“So Maxie what are we doing tonight?” Tess says leaning her head on my shoulder.

Where is that damn shirt? I threw a couple shirts onto the floor, seeing a spot of green I grab it and pull it from the pile.
“YES!” Hahaha I found you… pulling off my shirt, I throw the green v-neck tee on.
Looking around the room for my khaki mini skirt, “damn…where is everything?” I mutter to myself. Dropping to the floor I lifted the edge of the blanket so I can see under the bed, shuffling my hand under there I don’t feel anything.
“Need some help Parker?” Jumping at the voice I stand up and begin playing with my hair.
“I can’t find anything in this room…”I sigh, giving up I fall on the bed and lay back.
“Here let me help…” Sean says picking up a couple of garments before throwing them in a pile in the corner.
“See now we know it’s not in there” He says gesturing to the pile, I laugh rolling onto my stomach to face him at the door.

“I like to think I am” He gives me a small grin and sits next to me on the bed.
Slowing bringing my knees under me so I am kneeling on the bed next to him, “Sean by any chance did you see a khaki skirt?” Giving him a smile, I feel my cheeks flush under his intense stare.

“Here’s the skirt” He says nervously handing me the skirt, I walk over into the room and as I pull it up I see someone come in the room.
“Hey Liz I was just coming to see if you –“Max stops in the doorway, his eyes widen at the sight of me in my underwear and Sean standing a couple feet from me.
“Hey Max” I say pushing some hair from my face, I quickly jumping in the skirt and fastening it.
“Hey Max” Sean says also, I walk over to my dresser and grab a belt and begin to loop it.
“Well Liz I was just coming to see if you needed a ride, and I brought my stuff over.” Max says raising his arm to show a small black duffel, I walk up to him and my stomach begins to get butterflies. I grab the bag from him and let out an uneasy laugh.
“Great here I’ll take it” I put the bag on the bed and turn towards them.
“So is Tess coming tonight? Because that’s ok with me…” I say trying to make conversation. I hate Tess and personally would rather her not be here but sadly she never left for her family’s or what ever. It killed me today after school to have to watch her cuddle up to Max and everything so I decided if Max could then I could too.
“Yeah she kind of invited her self I guess…but if it’s ok with you” Max shifts nervously, Sean who has been quiet speaks up.
“Well we should be going its almost 7:15, Maria will kill us if we are late” Walking up to me Sean smiles and puts his hand on the small of my back and softly pushes me towards the door. Max just nods and turns out through the door, walking a quick pace through the house, and through the Crashdown. As we get outside I see that Tess is already in Max’s jeep, looking at us with an irritated facial expression. As we head towards the car Sean moves his hand from my back and slowly grabs my hand, I don’t pull away because as he grabs my hand I see Max lean in the driver’s door and give his girlfriend a passionate kiss. As he pulls away I see his eyes widen at the sight of Sean and I holding hands, I flash a smile at him and get in the car.
The drive to the movie theatre is silent, I can see from my seat that Max is practically breaking the steering wheel he is gripping it so hard, his knuckles are obviously white from it. Glancing at his face through the review window I can see his features they seem hollowed and angry, his eyes are dark and lifeless. I don’t see why he had got all work upped, it’s not like he hasn’t seen me change before. I’ve known Sean since I was like 3, he moved away for his senior year and that was the last time I saw him. Now I know Sean likes me, and I like him too but it’s not the same way I feel towards Max.
I look at Max once more the mirror and as I am looking at him he looks back at me, for a second his face softens then suddenly goes blank and his eyes darken and he looks away.
As he looks away I feel my heart drop into my stomach, my stomach begins to feel queasy. Everything gets blurry from the tears threatening to escape my eyes; I can’t believe Max could be this mad over nothing it’s not like he ever felt the same about me.
We finally pull up to the theatre and we all get out,”Hey Sean could you show Tess in and find Maria?” Sean nods and walks over to Tess and they walk into the theatre.
“Max what’s up with you?” He continues to avoid my eyes, I grab his face with my hand force him to look at me. His eyes are barley recognizable instead of their usual amber they are now a dark hazel color, I can barley tell what he feels his entire self shows no emotion at all.
“Nothing Liz” He says bitterly, looking me dead in the eye, I wince under him. His voice sounds so rough and eerie like it’s not even coming from him. I love him so much I wish I could just hold him and tell him so but I can’t, cause if he ever knew how I felt it would ruin our friendship and I would never want that.
“Max you know what, what ever I don’t give a damn anymore…” I say in a defeated tone.
“What are you talking about Liz?” He says roughly, he sticks his hand into his jacket pockets and stares right at me.
“This Max why the hell you acting like your going to kill someone, your all fuming and pissy it annoying I’m your best friend and you cant tell me a effing thing” I say truthfully. He looks up from the ground and looks into my eyes, for a second I forget what I was even saying. I take a step towards him and Max also takes a step to me.
“Liz…” His voice comes out softer than before, the sound of him makes me melt all over again, who cares why I was angry? Damn why can’t I stay mad at him, and those beautiful amber eyes.
“What Max what why on earth are you being such an asshole?” It comes out angrier than I had intended, I see the hurt in his eyes and I suddenly feel guilty.
“Sorry Liz… I just don’t know – today’s been kind of confusing and there some stuff I have been thinking about” He admits softly and kicks randomly at some rocks on the ground.
“That’s it?”
“Yeah I guess so…”
There a long pause before anyone speaks
“Max, you know you can talk to me about anything right?” I say as I walk up to him and place my arms around his shoulders.
“Yeah, I guess but I am not so sure you would want to hear this…” He laughs a little and pulls me into him placing his arms around my waist.
“Max, Max, Max it’s me Liz” he leans down and rest his forehead against mine and says softly to me.
“How bout we talk about it at you house…with some ice cream” Laughing I push him away, suddenly feeling much colder than before.
“Come on Maria’s definitely going to kill us now” Pulling Max into the theatre we go and find everyone else.

After the movie we all hung out in the crash until about 1 am and decided it was beyond time to go to bed. We all decided to meet here in the morning and do a group breakfast. All that was left was me and Max, as we cleaned up a little around the crash we joked and laughed like normal, but the thought still nagged me whether I should just be with Sean and be semi happy or tell Max my feelings and risk ruining our relationship if he doesn’t feel the same. But Max is with Tess and he likes her a lot no matter how much I hate her.
Shaking my head, I looked up and find the room empty “Max?” I slowly walk around from the counter and push through the employee’s door.
“Hey Max you in here?” It quiets not even a sound, getting rather nervous I step uneasily into the room.
“This isn’t funny Max where are you” My voice comes out shaky and scared, there comes a sound from the kitchen and I slowly make my way towards it.
“GOTCHA!” suddenly I am being thrown to the floor and I look up to find Max pinning me to the ground.
“OMIGOD I THINK I HAD A HEART ATTACK” I yell hitting Max with my hands, he laughs as he shrugs off my attempts.
I begin to laugh, he looks down at me and I stop slowly and as I do we just stare at each other. MY heart begins to beat harder and harder against my chest and I begin to squirm under his gaze. But the harder I try to look away the more attached I get, then he slowly leans into me and our lips meet.
I pour all my heart and soul into the kiss, slowly running my hands through his hair I cause him to moan. We start innocent enough and progress into more passionate kissing I feel his arms snake their way under me and lift up into him. Then we continue to deepen the kiss roaming each others mouth like there is never going to be a next time.

Where is that damn shirt? I threw a couple shirts onto the floor, seeing a spot of green I grab it and pull it from the pile.
“YES!” Hahaha I found you… pulling off my shirt, I throw the green v-neck tee on.
Looking around the room for my khaki mini skirt, “damn…where is everything?” I mutter to myself. Dropping to the floor I lifted the edge of the blanket so I can see under the bed, shuffling my hand under there I don’t feel anything.
“Need some help Parker?” Jumping at the voice I stand up and begin playing with my hair.
“I can’t find anything in this room…”I sigh, giving up I fall on the bed and lay back.
“Here let me help…” Sean says picking up a couple of garments before throwing them in a pile in the corner.
“See now we know it’s not in there” He says gesturing to the pile, I laugh rolling onto my stomach to face him at the door.
“Aren’t you the clever one” I snap
“I like to think I am” He gives me a small grin and sits next to me on the bed.
Slowing bringing my knees under me so I am kneeling on the bed next to him, “Sean by any chance did you see a khaki skirt?” Giving him a smile, I feel my cheeks flush under his intense stare.

Slowly I look up and I find Liz sweeping away deep in thought, I wonder what she could be thinking about? I head towards the back to put the broom away, after I put it in the closet I decide to grab some ice cream because personally I am still starving. The crash is extremely quiet I can hear the rustling from Liz’s broom; I go to the cabinet and rummage for some bowls.
“Max?” I hear Liz question, I guess she noticed I left
I see her walk into the back room and she looks so beautiful scared, slowly walking towards her I hear her say “Max you in here?” her voiced shaky and raspy.
I make my way closer to her and I step on a fork, jumping backwards I hit the counter causing a loud THUD.
Liz whips her head towards the kitchen and her eyes are wide with fear, her hair strung around her face.
“This isn’t funny Max where are you?” I can barley control the laughter in my chest, in an instance I lunge at her tackling her to the floor “GOTCHA” I yell.
Looking down at her, she is practically having a panic attack and I can’t help but think how cute she looks. Her cheeks are deep red, “OMIGOD I THINK I HAD A HEART ATTACK” I laugh a deep laugh and she begins to hit at me. I just shrug it off and look at her; she is so beautiful how could I have ever been so blind? Her brown eyes lock with mine and we stare at each other for a second and my heart seems to stop. Her whole self seems to glow and radiate beauty and I can’t help but be jealous of Sean. Leaning into her I push my lips against hers, they are so soft. At first she doesn’t kiss back then I feel her body loosen under me and she kisses back. Our bodies slowly becoming one, I slip my hands under her back and sit her up against me and continue kissing her. I begin to come alive like no other time that I have ever kissed someone before, I push harder into Liz, an a muffled moan escapes her throat. Lining her bottom lip with me tongue I ask for permission to enter her mouth. She shows its ok by plunging her own tongue into my mouth. Slipping off her skirt, and slowly pulling them up she looks at me, my cheeks flush because I had carelessly just watched her change. Throwing them into a heap by my bag, I then pull my shirt over my head and throw it also with my pants. Turning around I notice Liz is only wearing a pair of shorts and sports bra, I look over her body her toned stomach and long tanned legs. She laughs again “Max, you’ve seen me before there’s nothing new”, I laugh myself suddenly aware of both of our rather barley there apparel.
Slowly we both walk towards the bed climbing in I notice Liz is inches away from me; she turns over and flips the light off. In the moons light I can see her almost perfectly her dark hair shining falling on the pillow. She turns around to face me, leaning on one arm under her head; I relax and lean also with my arm under my head.
She looks at me with her eyes the look so somber “Max you’re my best friend and you have a girlfriend, you do understand right because I don’t want you mad at me” her voice is quiet and serene. Shit I had completely forgot Tess damn…
“Yeah Liz, it’s just so weird I have this urge or more like strong feeling to hold you and make you mine, I know it sounds weird cause we are best friends and all but just something Maria said made all my thought just make so much more sense”
“What did Maria say?”
“Oh she just said that …. “But Liz I think I have always known that I felt this way I just always thought it was because we were friends and naturally I would feel strongly towards you”
“Max, I just do-“Before she can say another thing I push my lips against hers, she instantly kisses me back.
Wrapping my arms around her tiny frame I pull her up against me, she fits perfectly into my body. Her arms slowly go around my next as she pulls me in harder deepen the kiss, my entire body is tingling I can’t help but smile as much as I can. Pushing softly I enter her mouth, which causes her to let a deep throaty groan to escape her lips. “We are just friends who are about to have sex?” I don’t want that I want to be her boyfriend, lover anything not just her best friend.
“No Max…well I guess but I really do love you with all my heart but if we were to be a couple, if something ever happened it could ruin our friendship” I just nod, because I have nothing to say. Leaning in I kiss Liz softly, she kisses me back as we are overcome with lust and love we deepen the kiss. Running my hands through her hair, she takes her small hands and pushes my boxers down and I just kick them off.
“Well I’m naked...” I say gesturing to her panties, she looks down and laughs nervously, she glances at my harden penis and her eyes widen a bit, I can feel my cheeks flush.

Taking a step towards her I reach out to pull her back into my arms, “Max no we can’t” she says hitting my hand away from her. All I can do is look at her, my entire body aches; I can feel the warmth leaving my body. I just want to hold her and her to be mine and no one else’s.
Liz looks as if she will cry; I can’t help but feel guilty because I know I have caused those tears.
“Liz I am sorry “I mumble, and turn away from her and I walk to the couch and fall onto it heavily.
Liz’s eyes wander around the room and finally look at me, her doe eyes are red and teary and sadder, and I feel as if I have been punched in the stomach. Before I can say anything she speaks first her voice barley above a whisper, “We should head up stairs”.
Suddenly the images of Liz naked fill my head and I can feel the lower part of my body awaken, “Ya it’s getting pretty late…we should get some sleep everyone is going to be here in 7 hours”. I wait for Liz to walk towards the stairs, as she comes in front of me I walk beside her, guiding her with my hand on the small of her back.
As we walk in the room she quietly walks over to her dresser and finds a pair of P.J shorts. Slipping off her skirt, and slowly pulling them up she looks at me, my cheeks flush because I had carelessly just watched her change. She gives me a soft laugh and turns around and pulls her shirt off, I turn around myself and take my pants off. Throwing them into a heap by my bag, I then pull my shirt over my head and throw it also with my pants. Turning around I notice Liz is only wearing a pair of shorts and sports bra, I look over her body her toned stomach and long tanned legs. She laughs again “Max, you’ve seen me before there’s nothing new”, I laugh myself suddenly aware of both of our rather barley there apparel.
Slowly we both walk towards the bed climbing in I notice Liz is inches away from me; she turns over and flips the light off. In the moons light I can see her almost perfectly her dark hair shining falling on the pillow. She turns around to face me, leaning on one arm under her head; I relax and lean also with my arm under my head.
She looks at me with her eyes the look so somber “Max you’re my best friend and you have a girlfriend, you do understand right because I don’t want you mad at me” her voice is quiet and serene. Shit I had completely forgot Tess damn…
“Yeah Liz, it’s just so weird I have this urge or more like strong feeling to hold you and make you mine, I know it sounds weird cause we are best friends and all but just something Maria said made all my thought just make so much more sense”
“What did Maria say?”
“Oh she just said that …. Never mind but thing is Liz I have always thought you were beautiful, funny, sarcastic, perfect in every way like you were meant for me and you would always be there…”I take a deep breath organizing my thoughts “When I saw you with Sean I think I almost had a heart attack cause I realized that I wanted to be him I wanted to be the one who got to kiss you every time you did some thing cute, or hold you tight when you where sad and comfort you when you were upset… Liz I want to be the one with you” I feel so vulnerable suddenly I just spilt my heart out to her, the look on her face is un-readable it’s a cross between shock and pure confusion.
“Max-“She mutters her voice shaky “I don’t know what to say… it’s kind of sudden you can’t just BAM have these strong feelings for someone either you know or you don’t, Max with you I knew from the instant I saw you I loved you-“

“Max, I just do-“Before she can say another thing I push my lips against hers, she instantly kisses me back.
Wrapping my arms around her tiny frame I pull her up against me, she fits perfectly into my body. (The next morning)
Bothered by the sudden light in my eyes I turn over in my bed, ‘HOLY SHIT I LOST MY VIRGINITY’ the sudden relations of last night hits me. I look around and there’s not a trace of anything Max, his duffel’s gone. My chest feels as if a sumo wrestler is sitting on it, my eyes start to sting as I realize I am crying. MY chest begins to ache; I reach down and pull the covers over my head slowly, ‘He didn’t give a damn about me”. Shaking my head violently I begin to sob; under my covers I pull my knees up to my chest and slowly begin to relax, falling once again asleep.

The darkness under my blanket is calming, but I have to face the world sometime, sadly. Pushing the covers off me I pull myself out of my bed and walk into the bathroom to shower.
The warm water hitting my back is soothing and perfect, ‘I can’t believe he’d just leave? Would he, because we were meeting our friends in about an hour and surly he wouldn’t want the awkward tension.
Turning off the water and jumping out of the shower, I wrap a terry cotton towel around my body. Smiling at the softness, I walk into my room and grab a pair of lacey black undies and matching bra. Then putting on a simple pale yellow tank top and my white flowy skirt, with some also pale yellow flip flops, I decided to air dry my hair so it can have a bit of curl in it. Walking towards my mirror I throw on some clear lip gloss and a smudge of mascara, a just a teensy bit of bronzer; smiling confidently at myself I head downstairs into the crash. I first notice Mike and Maria sitting at a booth enjoying a little private time together, laughing I stroll over to them. “Hey can I take your order”, the sudden voice makes the two jump apart quicker than the speed of light. Giggling I say “ Oh I see…what you two do when we aren’t around and may I say whoa –“ waving my hand in front of my face “It is HOT”.
“Shut up Liz, and get me a drink” Michael says roughly, “Yeah me too?” Maria says softer than her boyfriend.
“Sure, sure make me wait on you my day off…”I grumble walking over to the soda machine getting there drinks. Sitting back at the table, I pass over there drinks, trying to not let on how hurt I am.
“Sweets you look hot today! But chica you try faking me for a second and I can see right through you, so what's wrong?” Oops guess I didn’t hide it good enough.
“Well Maria, and Mike…It’s just well –“The bell of the crash sounds and I turn to see Isabel and Alex and – Max walk in. My heart jumps into my throat, suddenly the room spins a bit.
“Chica whoa you’re a bit pale here follow me” Maria grabs my hand from across the table and whispers to mike, he nods and she pulls me into the back of the crash. I can tell I am about to cry but I do my best to hold back, Maria practically throws me on the couch before sitting down next to me.
“Spill Chica now” She says hold my hands in her lap comfortingly , taking a breath I tell her the WHOLE story from before the movies all the way till this morning. After I finish I wait for her to process what I told her and before I say anything she speaks first.

“Well honey I hate to say this but you need to show that boy he really wants you and he cant come around when he’s horny…so I say and omigod I don’t believe I am going to say this…you should date Sean” My mouth drops and forms a perfect “O”, stuttering I say “You want me to what?”.

“Well you said it yourself you like Sean …right?” I nod “Well when you start dating Sean, Max will be over run with jealousy and will dump that bitch Tess on her ass and you two will live happily ever after” She throws out in practically one breath.
“Well I guess it can’t hurt anyone…Sean is a great guy”
Covering her ears dramatically she yells “HE IS NOT NICE!”
Laughing together I hit her softly and stand up, “Well lets not keep them waiting”.
We walk back into the crash and they added a table to the end of the booth where Kyle and Sean both have seats. Max is against the wall facing away from me, with Tess on his left and Isabel next to her, with Sean at the connecting table. And Mike was in the booth while Kyle sat at the table connecting. Maria walks up first and shares the booth with Mike, I pause before walking over taking a deep breath I walk over and take a seat next to Sean. He turns to me and smiles, I smile back and say “hey” to the rest of the table, everyone choruses back a hey, except Max who continues to stare at the menu.
“Screw you” I say to myself, but when I notice the stares from Sean and the others I realized I said it out loud.
“Oops never mind” I laugh it off…
“Morning Beautiful” Sean whispers to me, I giggle and lean in placing a soft kiss on his lips.

Breakfast went as usual, except that Max never once looked at me. I was pissed off beyond reason that he could be such a jerk; I had given him the one thing that I could only do once. All he did was take and leave not even bothering to talk to me at all or even look in my damn direction! So right now I am in my room, currently taking every picture I own of him or anything Max has ever given me and its all going in this shoe box.
“You worthless jerk” I say slamming a handful of pictures in the box, I hear someone laugh and find a smiling Sean leaning against my door.
“Mad?” He says walking into my room, I take all the stuff and put the rest in the box and shove it under my bed.
“You could say that… but I think things are getting better” I say with a sexy grin, he raises an eyebrow in curiosity and replies “Really? Because I know one thing that would make me better” Sean sits next to me on the bed, placing his arm around me I can smell his Ralph Lauren cologne. I turn to look at him and answer “So do I...” leaning in to him I place my mouth on his and we begin to kiss softly. *Max is probably with Tess right now…* the thought angers me for a second and I deepen the kiss angrily with Sean. He pulls me in his arms and lays down so I am on top of him, with out breaking the kiss I pull slightly to the right and cause us to turn so I am on the bottom of him. Sean pulls away first and says “Liz, I really like you…”nervous he begins to stutter “Well I was wondering if maybe- you... Um could- I mean want to hang out – no wait –“

The sun was barley up and I notice the small body against mine, I smile spreads across my face at the thought of what had happened the night before. Her silky hair flowing gently onto the pillow and the soft rise and fall of her chest was enough to make my heart swell with love. Kissing her softly on her forehead, I slowly move her softly over and cover her more with the comforter. Standing up I throw on a pair of boxers and lean next to the bed looking once more at my beauty. Running my hand through her hair, I smile, she moves slightly and I quietly pull my hand from her hair. Grabbing a piece of paper and pen from her desk I jot a quick note down and place it next to her pillow.

“Maxie… you’re here I thought you were at Liz’s?” she asks her voice saying Liz’s name with hatred.
“I did-“her smile drops “I just came home to shower” I say simply, she looks at Isabel who just nods and walks out to the jeep.
“Max, I know you and Liz are just friends, but if you can stay at her house, why won’t you ever come over to mine?” She says while playing with the rim of my pants.

As we get to the Crash we sit in the normal booth, Mike is the only one sitting there, “Hey Maria not here?” I ask taking my seat into the booth.

“MORNING FELLOWS!” yells Kyle says as he walks through the door, with Sean right behind him.
As he walks up we all say our hi’s and he pulls another table right up to the booth and takes his seat next to mike at the connecting table. Sean sits next to Isabel, they all start talking but I zone out, wondering how Liz might react to Tess begins here. I see her and Maria walk out, my heart drops- she looks soooooo beautiful, in her outfit, but her eyes are a bit red from something, maybe crying? But why would she be crying. I look at Maria and she glares at me quickly before taking a seat next to mike. Liz paused before sitting down saying hi to everyone too stunned by her to say anything right off the back, so after she sits I lean over to say as she sits down, only to see her do the impossible…kiss Sean.

Looking around at Tess I say “How bout we go for a drive?”, Tess stands happily with a smile.
“We can do some fun activities!” I laugh at her comment and grab a blanket and bag.

“Hey Tess what are you doing here?” I say in shock, she pushes slightly pass Isabel and jumps on to me.
“Maxie… you’re here I thought you were at Liz’s?” she asks her voice saying Liz’s name with hatred.
“I did-“her smile drops “I just came home to shower” I say simply, she looks at Isabel who just nods and walks out to the jeep.
“Max, I know you and Liz are just friends, but if you can stay at her house, why won’t you ever come over to mine?” She says while playing with the rim of my pants.
“I don’t know Tess, Liz is just my friend…”
“That’s ok I don’t care I mean what does Liz have that I don’t have” she says gesturing to herself.
“Well…” before I say anything Isabel walks in again and yells “COME ON GUYS YOU CAN MAKE OUT LATER I AM HUNGRY!”
I start towards the door, Tess latches on to my hand, I cringe slightly…*I wonder what Liz might think*
As we get to the Crash we sit in the normal booth, Mike is the only one sitting there, “Hey Maria not here?” I ask taking my seat into the booth.
Mike looks at Tess and frowns then answers “Nah, she and Liz are in the back…”
“oh ok…” I answer looking towards the back employee’s door.
“MORNING FELLOWS!” yells Kyle says as he walks through the door, with Sean right behind him.
As he walks up we all say our hi’s and he pulls another table right up to the booth and takes his seat next to mike at the connecting table. Sean sits next to Isabel, they all start talking but I zone out, wondering how Liz might react to Tess begins here. I see her and Maria walk out, my heart drops- she looks soooooo beautiful, in her outfit, but her eyes are a bit red from something, maybe crying? But why would she be crying. I look at Maria and she glares at me quickly before taking a seat next to mike. Liz paused before sitting down saying hi to everyone too stunned by her to say anything right off the back, so after she sits I lean over to say as she sits down, only to see her do the impossible…kiss Sean.

Looking around at Tess I say “How bout we go for a drive?”, Tess stands happily with a smile.
“We can do some fun activities!” I laugh at her comment and grab a blanket and bag.
Heading towards the door with a basket and blanket me and Tess head towards the desert.

I look over at Tess in the passenger seat, her right hand holding back her hair keeping it from blowing about her face. *Liz never held her hair back*, shaking my head quickly Tess turned and looked at me.
“What’s up Max, you look as if you have something on your mind?” She says genuinely, but without waiting for a response she picks up her purse and digs through pulling out white hair elastic. Tying her hair up quickly, she turns back to face me, “Max what is bothering you?” I glance at her quickly then turn m attention back to the road.
“Nothing really…let’s just have a good time” I say without emotion, I notice a small turn off, and I pull up and turn the jeep off.
“Max, as much as I would loooove to do this…”gesturing to the sky she continues “It looks like it’s about to rain any second, and personally I don’t want to get drenched” Looking towards the sky I realize that the clouds have gone from white to a dark gray, and do look as if they are going to burst any moment now.
I guess I got caught up in the clouds cause Tess begins waving her hand in front of my face yelling “Max”, blinking I look down from the sky and at Tess who looks less than pleased with me.
“Max we’ve been dating for about 5 months almost and I knew you before that…”
“Yeah Tess what’s your point?” I say meaner than I intended it to, she looks hurt for a second then shrugs it off.
“Well you and I have never done anything more than the occasional make out sessions, and I think you and I are old enough to … go farther?” Her blue eyes seem to darken with lust as Tess speaks; I stare for a second at her then after gathering the words in my head I finally speak.
“Tess, you want to…-errr- have sex?”, instead of answering she just nods happily.
“Well I don’t know what to say I guess, it sudden…but Tess I don’t think I’m ready too” I say sympathetically, as I answer Tess grabs my hands softly and rests them in my lap. I stare at her hands and mine for a second until I hear Tess say something…
“Well you know Max, its ok if you want to wait and I understand…” Tess leans in as to kiss me, but I just pull back a little which makes her almost fall on her face.
Startled she looks up at me, “Max I have a question?” her voice harsh and filled with anger; I nod and say “sure, shoot”.
“I know you and Liz are friends and all but … do you …have feelings for her?”
“Yeah, she’s my best friend of course I do” I lie through my teeth, she nods then looks around the desert before saying anything.
“Max…is it more than just friends?”
“Tess I can’t lie and say there isn’t…because there is”
“FUCK! Are you kidding me, have you been sleeping with her behind my back?”
Holding my hands up in defense, “No, NO Tess you have the wrong idea-“
“The wrong idea Max, I may be blonde but I’m not dumb I have always seen the way you look at her…the googly eyes, you too were always so close, I shrugged it off because Isabel always said you two were just friends JUST FUCKING FRIENDS!” Tess begins yelling, her face practically inches from mine.
“Max see, you don’t get it, I love you! You though have been fucking around with that bitch parker! I wasted 5 months with you! Do you understand what I gave up what guys I turned down for you! I could have been in a GOOD, CARING, LOVING relationship to someone who actually did stuff, took me on dates that didn’t include there best friends and best GIRL Friends coming along! I can have any guy I fucking want Max and I picked you because I saw something there…” Leaning back in her seat, Tess calms down and just stares ahead of her.

Sean and I only made out for a couple minutes, because suddenly I couldn’t think of nothing but Max, I almost called Sean Max, that’s when I knew I couldn’t do this.
“Sean let’s slow down” I say pushing my head further into the pillow, away from Sean.
He turns off me and lays back next to me, “No problem Parker, anything for you” he says his voice filled with happiness.
I turn on my side and look at Sean’s profile, he’s not a bad looking man just I prefer the tall dark and handsome, but he don’t prefer the short and plain. Sean catches me staring at him and I feel my cheeks heat up as he smile at me, “You want to do something?” he offers.
“Why?” I retort
“Cause you look as if your dog died…but still beautiful” My cheeks flush even more at his comment, I have never been used to boys complementing me.
“Well I have my shift in like 3 seconds…” I realize looking at the clock; sadly I push off the bed and head towards my closet where I put my uniform.
“Let’s just go anyway; we can head up to Las Cruces for the night maybe even till tomorrow?” Sean suggests wiggling his eyes comically.
“Sean we can’t just leave? Can we?” The idea doesn’t sound half bad…pushing back down my uniform, that I had begun to put on I yell “Lets DO IT!” I say throwing my hands into the air. Earning a giggle from Sean, “What’s so funny Deluca?” I say putting my hands on my hips.
“Well ya know I wouldn’t mind if you go in your underwear, but I am sure you would mind all the looks men would be given you….and the thoughts they might think” he says gesturing to my state of dress, I swear I turn the shade of a tomato. I had forgotten that I was changing; I was so caught in the moment and the thought of getting away for the night even if it was with Sean.
“Well I’ll let you get dressed and I’ll be back in 5 minutes ok, we got to make this quick…unless you want your dad to know” he mocks as he walks out my bedroom door.
“Funny Sean” I yell to his back, as he leaves, looking around my room I grab a bag for some clothes still only in underwear and a work out bra. Throwing the bag open on my bed I rush into the bath room and put most the essentials into a smaller bag. Unable to find the tooth brush holder thing, I drop to my knees and rummage through the sink cupboard.
“Here tooth brush thingy, here tooth brush thingy” I say playfully to myself, or at least I thought.
“I don’t think it will answer you” Say a husky voice from the bathroom door; I turn to see Max standing propped against the door with a wide grin across his face.
“It might” I quip angrily at him, “Whoa what’s with the tone?” He says holding his hand up pretending to wave a white flag.
“Nothing I just am looking for the toothbrush holder” I say trying to not let any emotion in my voice. I can’t find it so I just stand, blushing a bit as I realize I am still in my undies.
“Well what do you need it for?”
“None of your damn business” I say callously, and then slamming my toothbrush into the small toiletries bag, I grab the entire bag and shove my way past Max.
“Liz what is up with you, I’m the one who should be mad!” Max says his voice rising slightly but it doesn’t hide the hurt in his voice, or in his eyes.
“Nothing, Max that’s exactly it nothing” I don’t even bother to look at him anymore, I just walk to the closet, I hear him sit on the bed and sigh. Grabbing a black v-neck tee I throw it on quickly, also throwing on a pale pink pleated jean skirt. I turn around to see Max lying back on the bed with his arms over his eyes, but I know he is crying because I can see his body shaking.
“Max, what the hell” I almost yell, Max jumps at the sound of my voice and stands up off the bed. Wiping his eyes he looks at me then away saying softly, “Why are you doing this Liz? Why?” I can feel my heart sink, and the tears almost fall from my eyes, I wipe my eyes and turn back into my closet and grab a couple outfits, “Answer me Liz!” His voice is laced with hatred and hurt, and I cry lightly knowing that I might have caused those tears. Holding the clothes to my chest I take a deep breath and turn around and walk to the bed, my eyes glued to the floor. As I reach for the bag Max’s hand catches my wrist and it causes me to look up at him.
“Liz...”His voice pleads to me to answer him, but I don’t know what to say, I love him and he doesn’t love me the way I love him. He has Tess and he loves her, I am just the best friend, “Liz” he says again, his eyes are red from his tears but I find the strength and look away. Pulling the bag closer to me I throw the clothes in without caring to fold or anything, placing the toiletries bag in I begin the cry again. I know I am acting stupid, I just cant help it…trying my best to ignore him I go into my dresser and grab a fresh change of underwear and bra, and I also grab some pajama’s. Keeping my eyes to the floor, I can still feel Max’s eyes boar into me as I walk up to the bed and finish packing my the bag. I guess Max finally really notices what I have been doing and asks, “What are you packing for?”
“I’m going to Maria’s tonight” I say barley above a whisper; I practically choke on the words from the lump that has appeared in my throat.
“Oh…” he answers simply
“Yeah so I better get going”
“Liz we need to talk…seriously”
“About what Max about how I gave you my virginity then to have you tell me how much you love me and care for me! I even believed you! How could I have been so stupid…? You never really cared about me Max did you? I was a friend that you thought you had feelings for because you were too confused by something Maria told you! She told you I loved you didn’t she!” I begin to raise my voice till I am practically yelling “But you know what Max when I woke up, and you weren’t here I realized something, to you this was a mistake you couldn’t face.” Max stares at me stunned for a second, but as he opens his mouth to speak a car horn sounds of from the alley.
“So Max next time your feeling confused, don’t come here and do things you wont be able to face in the morning, cause you broke my heart without even knowing it” I look at him one last time, he eyes glazy an solemn, he goes once more to say something but I dash out onto the balcony and down the ladder and run into Sean’s car. From the passenger seat I see Max still standing there where I left him, turning to Sean I stumble out “Let’s get out of here”.

I stand there for what seems forever staring at the spot Liz was, “Hey Liz you shirt-“Maria says walking into the room.

“She just left…wait, she just left with you” I say pointing a finger at her, her eyes widen in shock at me.
“What no, I just came here to get her, she’s late for her shift” Maria replies her voice laced with a hint of worry.
“Well she just left with someone!” I yell, still hurt from what Liz had said to me.
“WELL IT WASN’T ME!” Maria yells back, “After what you did I’m not surprised she lied to you!”
“What I DID!” I yell again, my blood beginning to boil, she was the one that treated me like shit!
“YEAH TREATING HER LIKE A MISTAKE!” My jaw drops to the floor…
“You’re the one that told her that?” I say quietly this time, Maria breathes and in a calmer tone answers.
“She didn’t need to be told that’s how she felt” Maria says honestly
