Chapter One: A Queens Duty

Candles flickered in the wind as rain hit the stain glass window pains causing them to shutter as lightening flashed out side. Inside the empty dimly lit chapel a woman paced back and forth.

"I fear something is coming" She whispered as she ran her hands over each other in a nervous gesture.

"Something my Queen? Like what?" the voice of a man asked from a near by pew. "I am not sure but something terrible." She said as she stopped pacing and looked out the window.

"You are tired my Queen a good nights rest will do you well. This fear is nothing you can't handle." The man said softy.

"Oh Alex you are a good friend of mine. But this is something you would not understand. I am a Queen who has the world at her figure tips I can destroy lands and create kingdoms with just the flick of my wrist.

I should be happy but I am not. For I have all of this power except for the greatest power of all." The queen sighed as she looked at her friend.

"The greatest power my lady?" Alex said questing his friend’s motives.

"Love. I have never known love. Oh you think this is silly me a Queen not know Love. My people love me, my castle adores me, and yet this is not the love I seek or want." She said as she sat down in the pew next to Alex.

"All my life I have been alone. I never knew my parents they died before I could remember them. So I have grown up destined to fulfill my duties as a Queen yet never allowed to see the world and seek it is that I want." The Queen said sighing as she looked at the glowing candles.

"Now I fear it is too late. I feel a change in the wind and this upsets me. Something is wrong with the balance." She said her voice soft and vacant.

"My Lady. You are loved. This is just a passing feeling you have. You are upset because of the storm nothing more my Elizabeth." Alex said trying to comfort his friend.

Elizabeth smiled but felt a hollowness in her heart for how could her friend know the love she sought and the fear that was pulsating through her body as she looked into his eyes.

"Queen Elizabeth, Sir Alexander you must come at once!" a knight said as he entered into the chapel. "Quickly" he said as the three made their way towards the entrance of the castle.

A man dressed in a hooded cloak emerged soaking wet with a look of madness and distress in his eyes as he sat there hunched over. "My Queen please help me. My kingdom is in its darkest hour. There was a great battle. I saw firers, I heard screaming, even death..." The man said his voice hallow his eyes glassy. "Please help me." he begged.

"How did your kingdom fall?" Elizabeth said softly as she crouched down looking at the dark haired amber eyed man before her feet.

"The Rebel alliance is broken. It is no more." he said distressed.

"The Rebel Alliance broken but how?" Elizabeth said trying to come to terms with the information she just had heard.

"Kivar" The man as if he had just drunken poison said as the name echoed in the darkness.

"Kivar. I see. I shall try to do anything in my power to keep you and your people safe. As long as I am living you have an ally in us." Elizabeth said softly looking into the stranger’s eyes of the broken and distressed king in front of her.

"Thank you" The man said softly.

"Tell me good sir what is your name." Elizabeth said softly as she looked into the stranger’s eyes.

"King Maxwell Zander of Antar. And you are?" he said looking up at her.

"Queen Elizabeth of Roseoline" She said.

"Thank you Queen Elizabeth. I am forever in your dept." Maxwell said softly.

Liz nodded in approval and then looked at her guards. "Guards please see to it that King Maxwell is taken care of. You can stay as long as you like." Elizabeth said smiling.

"Thank you my Queen" Maxwell said as he bowed before her before being escorted away.

Liz sighed hoping the stranger would gain some comfort and be able to sleep through the night.

Chapter Two: The Longest Night

Queen Elizabeth could not sleep her mind was in a state of confusion and wonder as she thought back to the events that had taken place during the night. She quickly go up from her bed got dressed and put on her long hooded green cloak. She then quickly left her chamber entering into the dark shadows of the night.

She quickly left the Castle as her long cloak floated in the wind giving her the illusion of a spirited ghost as she ran towards the forest with lantern in hand.

Rain was pouring in fears sheets as trees swayed in the cold wind. She then saw it the small cottage coming into view as she ran against the hard rain.

She entered the cottage and took off her hood revealing her face in the dim candlelight.

"My Queen I have been excepting you." an older woman said in a soft voice. She was dressed in a dark blue hooded dress that sparkled in the dim light.

"Tell me are we all domed" Elizabeth said as tears filled her eyes.

The woman took hold of Elizabeth’s hand and smiled. "Come here child." she said softly leading her towards the blazing firer. Elizabeth did as she was told as the woman looked at her with kind eyes. She then led her to a table where a crystal ball was and stared into it as it glowed in the firelight.

"Tell me Oracle Claudia what do you see?" Elizabeth said as her heart pounded with fear.

Claudia looked into the crystal ball for several minutes and then there was a flash of lightening and a crack of thunder causing the ground to shack. "Queen Elizabeth of Roseoiline a dark cloud is upon you and it will grow darker in these next coming days. Your kingdom is in grave danger if you do not fight you will perish the prophecy is clear. The stranger will have a key factor in your power.

You must trust your heart to do the right thing or you will die as a result. Be alert and stay open the danger is closer then you can imagine. That is all." Claudia said as she stared into the ball and then up at the Queen with concern in her eyes.

Elizabeth stared in shock "Please there must be more. You talk of a stranger I do not understand." she said trying to make sense of it all. "That is all the prophecy will tell me. Here take this it will help you sleep tonight. Things will seem clear in the morning." Claudia said giving Elizabeth a small vial of dark blue liquid.

"Thank you" Elizabeth said taking the vial. "Be strong my Queen and be safe." Claudia said giving her a kiss on the forehead before Elizabeth ran into the darkness of night.
-----------------------------------
"NO" Maxwell screamed as he woke up from another nightmare as sweat dripped down his body. He sat there for several minutes trying to catch his breath. His eyes scanned the unfamiliar room as his mind wondered back to meeting the Queen who's chambers he now occupied.

Shacking his head and rubbing his eyes he sat up and got out of bed dressing quickly before he left the chamber.

With candle in hand he made his way through the dark corridors. The hallways were dark and windy and in the dimly light candlelight he could not see where he was going until he saw it a dark figure almost like a ghost running towards him. He braced himself for the spirits attack as he tried to run forward but was it was too late the ghost came crashing into him.

He then stared at the ghost before him as its face came into view in the candlelight. "Queen Elizabeth" he said softly as if he had literally seen a ghost as her dark brown eyes stared up at him in the glowing candlelight. "I am so sorry I did not see..." he whispered as she looked up at him surprised.

"It's ok in a way I am glad you are here." She said softly looking into his liquid amber eyes as they flickered and glowed in the dim light of the candle.

" I couldn’t sleep." Maxwell said looking at he hooded creature in front of him. "Come on I know just the thing to help you get some rest." Elizabeth said as her and Maxwell made their way through the hallway until Liz reached a secret passage hidden in the wall. "This way" she said softly leading the way as Max followed.

They then entered a huge room that almost looked like a cellar full of bottles. Elizabeth passed this room and entered another this room was a kitchen full of a blazing fire complete with a wooden table and chairs. She then went into the cellar and got a bottle. "Here this should help you." She said as she poured the liquid into a glass.

"Thank you" Maxwell said taking a sip of the drink. "I can't imagine what you are going through. Is your family...are they..." she hesitated. "No they are still alive. They were lucky to get out safe and are at a nearby cottage of one of my knights." Maxwell said as he drank more of the sweet liquid.

"I will see to it that they are brought here. It is safer." Elizabeth said as she smiled softly.

"Thank you my Lady. They are a few lands away so it might take some time before they arrive." Maxwell said as he placed his cup down.

Elizabeth nodded. "I see. I shall see to it that Sir Alexander sent out his knights tomorrow to retrieve them." Elizabeth said as she placed the bottle back in the cellar.

They then walked back through the secret passage until they were in the hallway they had been previously. "Well I thank you my lady for the drink. Hopefully we will both be able to get some sleep. You look exhausted Queen Elizabeth." Maxwell said noticing the dark circles under her eyes.

"Yes it has been a long night for both of us King Maxwell." Elizabeth said sighing.

"Please call me Max." Max said looking at her. "Well good night Maxwe... I mean Max. Good night" Elizabeth said hesitating softly. "Good night. Sweet dreams my lady." Max said softly as he smiled slightly before entering his chamber.

Elizabeth entered her chamber and took off her hooded cloak. She quickly undressed and got ready for bed. She lay in her bed staring at the vial the Oracle Claudia had given her.

"Here take this it will help you sleep tonight." Claudia's words echoed in her mind as she looked at the blue liquid. "Sweet dreams indeed." Liz whispered as she drank the vial and in a few moments was in a deep sleep.

Chapter Three: A New Day

Queen Elizabeth yawned and stretched enjoying the warmth of her bed as the suns morning rays filled her room.

"Morning Lady Elizabeth. Did you sleep well?" a servant said as she opened up the crimson curtains revealing morning’s sunshine golden rays.

"Yes MaryRia. It was the best night sleep I had in a long time. I even dreamed." Elizabeth said as she sat up in bed still in a daze like state as she looked at her best friend who was filling her picture with water.

"I would of had sweet dreams as well if I had looked upon the stranger in Lady Isabella's room. I was going to wake my lady this morning when I was pleasantly surprised to find a hark hair man laying in her bed." Maria said excitedly as she looked at her Queen.

"Oh you mean King Maxwell I forgot to tell you he would be staying in Isabel’s room during his stay here." Liz said remembering that she had put Max in Isabella's chamber.

"Well I don't care if he is a King or not that man is a man of wax." Maria said rolling her eyes in a lustful state.

"MaryRia!" Elizabeth said staring at her friend in a state of shock.

"What I am just saying if I had a man that close to my room staying in my castle I would take advantage of it" MaryRia said as she opened up Elizabeth’s arm war to retrieve her gown for the day.

"You didn't wake him did you? He had an awful nights sleep dealing with the fall of his kingdom and was up half the night with terrible nightmares." Liz said as she got up and washed her face.

"You like him" MaryRia said smiling. "I do not" Liz said wiping her face in a towel.

"Yes you do. If you must know he was in a deep sleep when I entered and that is the state I left him in." MaryRia said as she helped Liz into her long fitted gown.

"Don't worry Liz I am not going to steal him away from you. After all I already have Sir Michael." MaryRia said as she laced up Liz's dress.

"Steal him oh I could care less if you took a fancy in him." Liz said breathing in tight as MaryRia finished lacing up the last of her lacing and tied it tightly.

"Really I didn't know a Queen could blush" MaryRia said laughing at her friends reaction.

"MaryRia you are out of your mind stop acting silly I swear the fairies have cased a spell on you this morning." Liz said laughing as she nervously bit her lower lip.

"More like cast a spell on you my Lady." MaryRia said as she finished braiding and combing Liz's long hair.

"Besides I know nothing of this stranger. It's silly of you to jump to conclusions." Liz said as MaryRia finished placing a small gold band around her head.

"This man came to my door step begging me for his help in his darkest hour and I intend to help him. After all... it is my duty as a Queen." Elizabeth said as turned and looked her friend in the eye.

"Yes my lady your duty as a Queen but what about your heart Lady Elizabeth." MaryRia said looking deep into her friend’s eyes hoping she would admit her feelings.

Liz then turned her head away from her and looked towards the window.” Thank you MaryRia that will be all." Liz said forcefully addressing MaryRia more as a servant then a friend.

"As you wish my Lady." MaryRia said bowing as Liz left the room.

---------------------------------------
"I see you have woken from the dead." Sir Alexander smirked as Max rubbed his tired eyes. "Sir Alexander. How are you this morning?" Max asked as Sir Alexander placed some cloths on the bed. "Very well. These are for you.

I hope they fit. My wife Lady Isabella is big into sewing so she helps make the royals cloths sometimes. I tell her not to because she is royalty but she insists and I learned very fast not to question the ladies motives. This used to be her room before she married me. Once and a while she still resides here. You shall meet her this afternoon at tea." Alexander said smiling.

"Tell your wife she is too kind. Thank you." Maxwell said grabbing the cloths. "I was inform by the Queen for you to get dressed and meet her for the morning meal out in the royal court yard." Alexander said looking at the man.

"Thank you Sir Alexander." Maxwell said smiling.

"Well I will leave you be. Good day my Lord." Sir Alexander said as he bowed and left his chamber.
--------------------------------------
Queen Elizabeth sat in the courtyard watching the sunrise as she eat her breakfast. "Queen Elizabeth. You called." Maxwell said as he approached her. "Yes Lord Maxwell." Elizabeth said smiling. "Please call me Max.,” he said looking into her eyes.

Elizabeth shook her head slightly "Right Max um please sit down." she said gesturing towards the chair next to her.

" I called Sir Alexander this morning to send out his knight to search for your family. What land are they at." Elizabeth said.

"Hanar. It's not to far from here. They are staying with my knight Klyelin. My sister Serena should be there with him as well as my brother Samuel." Maxwell said as he took a bit of the meal in front of them.

"Ok Guards. See to it that Sir Alexander send out a team to Hanar to retrieve King Maxwell's family at once." Elizabeth said as the guard bowed and left.

"Have you heard any words from your kingdom any survivors?" Elizabeth said concerned. "No not as of yet. I am sure Serena will know. She worked for our senate so a lot of the high officials might of gotten out alive." Max said as his thoughts started to wonder.

"Come let us walk" Elizabeth said as she rose.
--------------------------
They entered the garden and walked in the maze of bushes as the golden light of the sun shown upon them. The two walked in silence for a while.

"Last night you told me the Rebel Alliance was broke. How? Why?" Elizabeth said trying to put two and two together.

"Queen ConTessa of Kathana was an ally of Antar for years. Our kingdoms were at peace with one another. Her guardian Nascado was a good friend of my father King Phillip.

When her guardian Nascado died my father made sure she was taken care and made a pack saying we would forever be in alliance with her land Kathana in order to ensure her safety.

However once ConTessa was made Queen she had other plans went behind me and my fathers back and fell into the arms of King Kivar ruler of Kivarth. His power along with his sister Valendra and her husband King Nicholas keeper of his land Sero and ruler of his people the skins was an unstoppable force.

It was only a matter of time before they attacked my Kingdom and took their revenge on Antar. They waited until my fathers death and then took over the city in one giant battle as we slept. It was too much with all of Kathana and Sero along with Kivar's army to stop them.

We tried to stop them but our army and city perished. I fear it is too late and they will stop at nothing until the rule everything under the three moons." Maxwell said somberly as pain flooded his body as memories of that horrible night filled his mind.

Elizabeth swallowed hard as the horror of what she just heard filled her body as she tried to make sense of it all. "That is why I came here. Tell me is it true what they say about you Queen Elizabeth about how powerful and strong a ruler you are?" Maxwell said looking at her.

"Strong and powerful more like just and merciful are the way I rule my kingdom. But yes I would say we are strong and have good ties it is what brought us peace to our land for so long." Elizabeth said trying to ration with the stranger.

"I see. They also never told me how mysteriously beautiful you are." Max said smiling at her.

Liz blushed slightly and took a deep breath brushing off the compliment as she glanced towards the ground. "So tell me what was your kingdom like are the rumors I hear true is Antar really that beautiful?" Liz said looking up at Max.

"Yes Antar is beautiful more beautiful then anything you ever could imagine. It was a safe and peaceful Kingdom my people were very happy." Maxwell said as his mind wondered back to his beloved homeland.

"I see you miss it very much. You and your Queen must of been very well respected rulers." Elizabeth said smiling.

Maxwell then stopped "No I had no Queen. My betrothed was to Lady ConTessa." Maxwell said coldly. "Oh I am so sorry." Liz whispered softly seeing the hurt in his eyes.

"Don't be it was an arranged marriage."Max said as he glanced down at the ground.

"Where is Kivar now?" Elizabeth said trying to change the subject. Max sighed "I don't know he fled my kingdom last I head and was heading south towards Lavilla." Max said rubbing his head.

"Lavilla they are an alliance of mine I must warn them at once perhaps they can help provide some aid against the attack." Liz said excitedly. "If we can get word out to Hanar and to Lavilla we might have some hope against this fight." Liz said as her mind sprang into action.

"Do you think it will work?" Maxwell said questioning her.

"It's worth a short. At least it will bid us some time." Liz said hoping her plan would work. She sat there in silence for several minutes as her and Maxwell made their way up the castle steps.

"Yes I will see if Sir Kylelin knows of any knights who could help as well. He knows the woods far better then I do. He and Alexander might be able to form a small army on their way back here." Maxwell said as they entered the beginning of the courtyard.

"Yes that sound like a good plan if we can get a group of core knights from each of the near by kingdoms we might have a chance. I will see that Alexander gets the message at once." Liz said smiling.

"Um could you stop staring at me" Elizabeth hesitated when she noticed Maxwell's eyes upon her.

"Why" he said looking deeper into her eyes as if his sight was penetrating her soul.

"Because...Because it makes me feel uncomfortable" Elizabeth said forcefully as she turned and walked away.

"As you wish my Lady" Maxwell said softy as his eyes continued to stare at her as she left the courtyard.

Chapter Four: A Plan Of Action

For the rest of the day Queen Elizabeth did not see King Maxwell as she was called to attend to her Royal duties.

She meet with the royal senate and arranged that they contact all of their aliening kingdoms to tell them the news about Kivar and to have all of their best knights come and stay at her castle in order to train for the battle ahead of them.

The senate agreed with their Queens plan. "Yes my Lady we shall see it is done at once." Senator Grave said as they rose from their meeting. "Oh and please do not tell the people of Roseoline what is going on. Not until we know more information I would not want to upset them." Elizabeth said keeping her peoples feeling close to heart.

"Of course. Tell me my lady how is the fallen king doing? If you don't mind me asking." Senator Grave said looking at his Queen with loving eyes as they walked out of the meeting room.

"He is holding on." Elizabeth said sighing. "And how are you holding up my Lady?" Senator Grave said as they walked. "I'm doing the best I can this is all too much to handle. Never did I think I would see the day when all of lands would be against each other." Elizabeth sighed. "Have courage my Queen and don't forget to hope." Senator Grave said as he left leaving Liz in the market streets.
------------------------
"Lord Maxwell you made it." Alex said beaming as Max sat down at the table next to him and a very beautiful woman with long blond hair. "Sir Alex." Max said smiling. "Allow me to introduce my wife Lady Isabella." Alex said beaming. "It's very nice to meet you King Maxwell of Antar." Isabel said as Max kissed her extended hand.

"Thank you my lady for the cloths. They were very useful." Max said smiling. "Oh your welcome. Yes I just love sewing I find it so relaxing. I am glad you enjoyed them." Isabel said as she sipped her tea.

"I am so sorry to hear about your kingdom. Please if you need anything feel free to ask either Sir Alex or myself we will be happy to help you." Isabella said smiling at the dark haired man.

"Thank you. So tell me about Queen Elizabeth." Max said as he sipped his drink. "Well Liz and I are sisters. I am the oldest then there was Liz. We have a strong bond my sister and I. We have been through a lot." Isabel said wondering what this mans interest was in her sister.

"Well Elizabeth she is a strong determined woman. A very fair and kind ruler."

"So I noticed." Max said smiling as Alex went on.

"I am a good friend to Liz. We grew up together she practically considers me a brother then a friend. I grew up I grew up in the near by kingdom where eventually Isabella and Elizabeth stayed for a while growing up." Alex said smiling.

"Yes that is how Alex and I meet he was training to be a great knight and I one day was walking through the forest and was nearly attacked by him."

"It was your beauty that attacked me." Alex said smiling as Isabella rolled her eyes. "So after he didn't kill me we decided to become friends. It was shortly after wards that Elizabeth became friends with Alex as well and the rest is history." Isabel said as she gave Alex a kiss on the cheek.

"So tell me Maxwell do you have any brothers or sisters?" Isabel said intrigued. "Well yes actually I do I have a younger sister Serena and brother Samuel. I am the oldest then it was Serena and finally Samuel. We are all really close. They mean more to me then the world. I really hope that they are safe. They are with my good friends Klylein."

"Don't worry my Lord I will bring your family back safe and sound." Alex said smiling as Max nodded knowing.

"We leave tonight at sunset. Isabella I will not be back for some time make sure you keep in eye on Lady Elizabeth and Lord Maxwell when I am gone." Alex said somberly. "Of course I will. I will guard them with my life." Isabella said softly as she held Alexander’s hand.

"Well I must be off. Thank you again for tea. It was nice meeting you Lady Isabella and have a safe trip Sir Alex." Maxwell said getting up from the table even though he wanted to stay he knew that Alexander was leaving and would want to spend some quality time with his wife before he left on his long journey.
------------------------
He then made his way towards the library to find a good book to read in the evening hoping it would take his mind off of the horrible images that haunted it.

He entered the great dome building and made his way up the stairs. Rows upon rows of books filled the floor as they lined the walls with great colors. He then started scanning the shelves when he caught sight of a woman murmuring off titles of books as she searched the shelves.

Anything I can help with?" Max said as she woman looked up started to hear his voice. "Oh Lord Maxwell you startled me. No I don't need any help but thank you for the offer." Lady Elizabeth said feeling the blood rush to her cheeks. It suddenly felt very hot in the library and she didn't know if she was going to faint or be burned to a crisp by dragons firer.

"Do you read much?" Maxwell said as he looked at her noticing the slight pinkness in her cheeks. " Yes actually I love books I find them so fascinating. I love forgetting about life for a while and just being swept away." Liz sighed dreamily.

"You know there are other ways one can be swept away. Anyway this is a beautiful library do you come here often?" Maxwell said as he and Liz walked.

"Yes when ever I need answers to something. I come here sometimes books can provided me insight into what I need. Tell me are their Libraries in Antar?" Liz said as she ran her hands along the book covers.

"Yes so many. I love to read as well. Tell me what book were you looking for maybe I have heard it?" Maxwell said looking at her. "Hum I am not sure it’s a new author Shakespeare I think his name is. I am trying to find this one book in particular about two kingdoms being at war with each other." Liz said trying to remember the books name.

"Oh I think I know what one you are talking about. It's a tragedy but very romantic." Maxwell said as he and Liz flipped through the bookshelves glancing over names.

"Here it is! But I can assure you I am more interested in the flight between the two kingdoms not in the lovers." Liz said as she held the book close.

"No? But what if the fight is over them." Maxwell said looking at her.

"Oh don't be silly this fight had been going on for years the two lovers just happen to be thrown in the middle of it. Even if the lovers weren't there the battle still would of gone on." Elizabeth said looking at Max as if he had gone mad.

"I'm not so sure many great battles were fought because of great loves. I mean look at Homers the Illide. Pairs and Helen of Troy. Why do you think they say her face launched a thousand ships?

"Ok well at least I will not be as stupid and let Greeks bearing gifts into my kingdom and see it fall." Elizabeth said defensively as Max's face tightened as if he had just been wounded.

She then looked at Max in shock as to what she had just said. "Forgive me... I ...I was not implying you were stupid for letting your kingdom fall under Kivar." Elizabeth said softly.

"Not at all my Queen. Here I think you will find what you are looking for." Maxwell said handing Liz a book.

Liz glanced down at the cover "Utopia" she whispered. "To remind you of better days to come." Maxwell whispered into her ear before he left leaving Liz with her thoughts as she clutched the books tight in her hand.

Chapter Five: The Dark Cloud

A loud moan was heard in the dark chamber as night fell on the city. "Well that was exhilarating. Tell me do you always enjoy ravishing me in the bed of every king you over throw?" ConTessa said panting as she tried to catch her breath from the massive orgasm she had just shared.

"Of course after all we have to give our new kingdom a proper christening." Kivar said breathlessly as he and Tess laughed, as they lay naked in bed of the king of Atars chambers.

"You have no idea how powerful I feel right now. Seeing Antar fall to its knees was like a dream never in my wildest fantasy did I think I would see the day when King Maxwell well former King." he chuckled. "Would break and fall to his knees begging for mercy as I took his prize position and now Antar is mine!" Kivar said as his eyes gleamed with the deeps of greed and desire.

"Yes my king Antar is yours, but I know of a kingdom far more powerful." Tess sighed.

"More powerful go on." Kivar said intrigued. "Well have you ever heard of of the kingdom of Roseoline." Tess said batting her eyes as Kivar loomed above her. "Yes go on." Kivar hissed.

Tess laughed and smirked " Queen Elizabeth is ruler of Roseloine and she is the most powerful Queen in all of the land." Tess said as she slid her foot along Kivars leg ever so slightly. "She is allies with practically every kingdom in the west." Tess whispered. "So" Kivar said looking into her ice cold blue eyes.

"So if you destroy Queen Elizabeth then the rest of the west will fall making you the greatest King Kivarth has ever seen." ConTessa whispered seductively as she slowly ran a figure down Kivras cheek and over his lips. Her eyes glowing with the fire of brimstone.

"Why you wicked vixen." Kivar said as his eyes widened. Tess laughed and smiled "after all I wasn't a witch for nothing." Tess whispered as she smiled wickedly. "Its what made you my Queen." Kivar said as he kissed her hard.

"And soon you will be King the most powerful King to ever live." Tess whispered into his ear. " I will show you just how powerful I can be." Kivar whispered as he jerked ConTessa close to him and engulfed her with a hard passionate kiss.
---------------------------
"Take the path west of here I feel a storm coming from the east so you might pass it. Safe trip Sir Alexander." Queen Elizabeth said as she hugged her long time friend. "I will return in a few days be safe my Lady." Alex whispered as he broke way from Liz. "God speed." Elizabeth said as she watched Alexander give one last loving embrace to his wife Isabella.

"I love you" Isabella whispered. "Come back ok." She said looking into his eyes. "Ok I love you and don't forget to look at the stars while I am gone I will be looking up at them thinking of you." Alex said softly as they shared a sweet gentle kiss.

Queen Elizabeth then watched Alex and his Knights leave. "He will be alright. Right?” Isabella said in concern as she watched them leave the castle. "Do not worry Isabella they are safe." Queen Elizabeth said giving her a knowing smile.
------------------------------
"Queen Elizabeth. I have come to ask you to have dinner with me and Sir Michael tonight." MaryRia said beaming as she entered Liz's chamber. Liz upon hearing her quickly got out of bed and tried to hide her book. However it was too late and she ended up leaving it on her bed as she rose.

"MaryRia I order you to knock next time. You startled me." Liz said her face flush. "Sorry my Lady so what is it that you are reading I never see you reading at this hour of the day. You seemed enthralled with it." MaryRia said noticing the book laying face down on Elizabeth’s bed.

"Oh it's nothing." Liz said as she quickly grabbed the book and placed it inside a dresser draw next to her bed. Truth was MaryRia was right Liz never read this early in the evening. She had been reading Utopia the whole afternoon after Maxwell had giving it to her.

"Yes I will join you." Elizabeth said leaving her room. "My Lady shouldn't we ask King Maxwell to join us?" MaryRia said as Liz stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. "Oh um right of course how silly of me. Yes let us get him." Liz said as she hurried down the hall.

She then knocked on his door. After several minutes it opened. "Oh Queen Elizabeth this is a surprise." He said looking at her. "Well I was wondering if you would like to join me for dinner at my...my friend MaryRia's house. She is a servant of mine but a good friend." Elizabeth said hoping he wouldn’t find her revolting for wanting to eat with the servants.

He stood at her in shock. "Wow sure I would love to." He said still in shock. " I thought I was the only King who did that." he said following her. "Really you. Wow. I never would of thought. MaryRia was my personal servant when I became 12. We developed a friendship quickly and have been inseparable ever since. I don't care if she is my servant. She is my friend first.

Her and her husband Sir Michael are very nice people. I have a feeling you will enjoy them very much." Liz said as they walked outside to MaryRia cottage. "That’s great. I have, well I mean... I am not sure, if... I still have..." Max said as his voice became dry and chocked up.

"Shh it is alright." Elizabeth said with sympathy. "Anyway my friend is also a servant of mine. His name is Milton. He is crazy but god love him. He was a good friend and servant to my father. We really became close after he died." Maxwell said as they reached the cottage.

"He sounds like a very noble man." Liz said as soon they were greeted with hugs and the delicious smells of Sir Michaels stew as they entered the cottage. "Sir Michael." Michael said bowing before Max. "King Maxwell." Max said giving a slight nod. They then entered and soon the cottage was filled with lively chatter as food was eaten and wine was poured celebrating old and new friendships.

However despite the cheer inside the cabin a dark cloud was settling in on the city making the cabin glow in the dark of the shadows.

Chapter Six A Queens Thoughts

Sir Michael and King Maxwell formed an instant bond of friendship and they talked and laughed exchanging stories of there travels from long ago. When MaryRia poured the last of the bottle of wine they knew it was time to leave. "Thank you for dinner and for your company it was most enjoyable." Maxwell said as he gave Michael and MaryRia a hug goodbye.

"Oh I am glad you are welcome anytime you like. I haven't laughed that hard in ages." MaryRia said beaming as she laughed. "Your a good man Maxwell I hope to see more of you soon." Michael said as he looked at Max and then at Liz.

"Don't worry I have a feeling I will be here for a while." Maxwell said laughing.

"Thank you again. Good night." Liz said as she put her cloak on. "Good night my Queen.” Michael and MaryRia said as they watched Elizabeth and Maxwell leave the cottage.
-------------------------------
They walked in silence as they walked through the dark woods. A storm was brewing as Liz felt the wind on her cheeks. "We must hurry my lady I think it is going to rain." Maxwell said softly as he and Liz quicken their pace through the woods. "I hope Sir Alexander is alright." Liz said worried as they ran faster as the first raindrops hit the ground.

"Do worry I am sure they will be fine. Besides I think this storm is coming from the west not the east so they might of passed it." Maxwell said as he saw the castle coming in sight between the burry sheets of rain.

They ran until they reached the gate and quickly ran inside. Both of them were soaked through and through as water dripped in puddles along the floor. "You soaked." Liz said looking at the water dripping off of Maxwell's matted wet hair. "So are you" he said as they laughed slightly.

"Go to the far end of the castle their is a bath there. I will see to it that dry cloths are brought to your room. You can use the bath to get the chill out of your bones." Elizabeth said pointing in the direction as to where he should go.

"All kingdoms should be as blessed to have a Queen like you. You are too kind. Thank you." Maxwell said bowing slightly. "Well I bid you good night." Elizabeth said softly. "Good night my lady. Thank you for a lovely evening. I hope you can get the chill out of your bones as well." Maxwell whispered looking deep into her eyes. "But I have no chill in my bones sir" Elizabeth said softly looking at him. "Nor do I. Good night Elizabeth." Maxwell said softly before he turned to leave.
----------------------------------
"Lady Elizabeth. Please come in." Isabella said as she opened the door to her chamber allowing Elizabeth to enter. "Thank you Isabella. Please close the door." Elizabeth said as Isabella did as she asked. "Sister what is it you look a fright. You soaking wet. What’s the matter?" Isabella said fearing the worst had happened to her husband. "Is it Alex?" She said worried.

"No Alex is safe. I just feel ill that’s all." Elizabeth said looking very pale. "Here let me get you out of those wet cloths and draw you a bath as you tell me what ails you." Isabella said, as she wasted no time getting Liz out of her wet garments.

The warm water felt good as Liz breathed in the bath salts allowing her body to relax. She sighed as Isabella washed her hair. Once she was washed and clean Isabella gave her a beautiful nightgown, which she put on.

"Now tell me what is the matter?" Isabel said as her and Liz sat on her bed while she brushed her long brown hair. "I am so scared. I mean what if I fail and my kingdom falls. What is I am not strong enough to defeat Kivar. I mean if Antar a very powerful kingdoms can fall what’s to say mine can't. And here I promised...and my heartaches I don't know why? It's a very bittersweet feeling. Should I be concerned Isabel?" Liz said as she turned to face her sister.

Isabella smiled. "Oh Liz their is nothing wrong with you. It wouldn't be natural if you did not doubt your authority as Queen. After all you can be just as scared as everyone else is during this dark time. I trust you will make the right decisions and trust me I will do anything I can to keep us safe." Isabel said squeezing her hand.

"I know why your heart aches. Not only are you scared but you are scared for Maxwell as well. You feel his pain at losing his loved ones because you have suffered the same when our parents died. You also can relate to his position being he is a king himself and you are afraid that you will disappoint him if our kingdom should fall just like his did.

Elizabeth the other reason why your heart aches is because you care for him. Other wise you would not feel this way. He is a noble man and in a way we are blessed to have him here.

Do not fret my sister I believe you are the strongest woman I know and if their is anyone who can help us get through this it is you." Isabel said smiling as Liz gave her sister a hug as tears filled her eyes. "Thank you" she whispered. "Now get some rest and leave these worries behind for today. You will feel better in the morning." Isabel said smiling.

"Good night Isabella" Liz said as she got up from the bed. "Good night Elizabeth." Isabel said as Liz left and closed the door behind her.

Chapter Seven: A Midnight Talk

Queen Elizabeth did not find sleep as she tossed and turned in her bed. Her mind was on over load as emotions filled her body. She then got up and went to the only place where she knew she could be alone with her thoughts.

In the small chapel she sat crouched down in front of the alter crying as her body heaved and shook as she took in deep breaths.

"Why do you weep my Queen" a soft voice said as Elizabeth raised her head and looked at Maxwell as tears ran down her face.

"What right do you have to be here!" she snapped as she tried to compose herself. "Just as much right as you have to be here my Queen. Is it a sin for wanting to come and pray for my family and all of the dead Antar souls that died in battle" Maxwell said looking at her tear stained face.

"I'm sorry...it's just...just" Elizabeth said breaking into sobs again as tears filled her eyes. "Forgive me. I mean a Queen crying you must think I am weak." Elizabeth said as she tried to dry her eyes however it was no use the flood gates to her eyes would not close.

Maxwell then came and crouched down in front of her. "No my lady it makes you stronger because you feel." he whispered softly looking into her water stained eyes. Elizabeth nodded slightly and wiped her eyes as she took a cleansing breath. They sat there on the cold floor for a few minutes watching the candles give off their warm golden light.

"If it makes you feel better I cried many times when I was king. I even cried a little tonight for my people. I couldn't sleep so I came here hoping to find some peace." Maxwell said as he looked at Liz staring down at the cold floor.

"You must have loved them very much." Elizabeth said softly.

"I did"

There was a long pause. "Tell me...what was your betrothed like?" Elizabeth said softy as she lifted her head to look at him.

Maxwell sighed. "ConTessa was very pretty. She had blond curly golden locks and piercing blue eyes. She was very vivacious and spirited. However I always throught there was a darkness to her behind those eyes and good looks. I never really trusted her. We grew up together and with the promise my father made with her guardian it was only natural that we be engaged. We were to be married on the first of the new moon.

However my father died during that time and after the funeral I learned about her and Kivar but by then it was too late and our city perished. Truth was though I didn't care she was with Kivar I never loved her not like a husband should love his wife." Maxwell said softly as he took a deep breath.

"What about you and your King?" Maxwell said looking into Liz's eyes. "There was no King. I never knew who I was betrothed to. My parents died when I was very young. I hardly remember them." Liz said sighing.

"Surely Isabella knew who you were to marry." Maxwell said. "Isabella is my half sister. My mother died after I was born my father remarried shortly after to a woman with a daughter. That daughter of her's was Isabella.

After our father died we were sent to live with Isabella's mother who lived in the kingdom Alex grew up in. With Isabel it didn't matter who she married she was not of royal blood. She was blessed to have found Sir Alex.

In a way she was lucky. I on the other hand was destined to be Queen and at the proper age return to Roseoline to fulfill my duty. I was 16 when I was crowned Queen. Still a child forced to grow up all to fast and have the weight of the world put on my shoulders. Senator Grave and the royal senate advised me during that time as well as the Oracle Claudia who was practically a godmother to me.

However, I was young and naive and the finally decisions were up to me. I made a lot of mistakes when I was first crowned some could be fixed others were not so easy. But I learned and grew strong. I just wish sometimes my parents were here so that they could help me and I wouldn't feel so alone." Elizabeth said as tears filled her eyes.

"Your not alone I will help you." Maxwell said softly as he looked into her sparkling teary eyes. "Would it be wrong of me to tell you that I was afraid? I am the strongest Queen in all the land but I fear I won't be able to do it. What if I can't defeat Kivar and I lose everyone just like I did my parents" Elizabeth said pouring her heart out as a few tears slowly made their way down her face.

"Elizabeth" Maxwell said softly as he gently wiped the newly formed tears from her face.

"You are not going to lose everyone. I promise you." he said softly as he took her hand and squeezed it as they looked into each other’s eyes. Their faces were now close, as they looked deeper into each other’s eyes. The gap was getting smaller between them and they almost could touch one another’s nose.

They could almost taste each other’s lips as they inched closer leaning in as they both closed their eyes anticipating the sweet taste of one another as they both took in a deep breath.

"I should go" Elizabeth said breathlessly opening her eyes as she moved away from Maxwell's face and stood up. Maxwell opened his eyes and shook his head from the daze as he quickly got up on his feet to join her.

"It's late. I thank you for listening to me my Lord." Elizabeth said abruptly as she got up to leave. "Elizabeth" Maxwell said then took hold of her arm as she slowly spun around and took hold of her out stretched hand as he pulled her close.

They stared into each other’s eyes for a minute. "Why are you trembling?" Maxwell said softly.

"I'm...I'm cold" Elizabeth said shakily looking up into his eyes. "Go to bed then Elizabeth" Maxwell whispered as Liz left in a hurry out of the chapel leaving Maxwell in a daze as he watched her go.

Chapter Eight: Dimaras Rock

The winds were picking up fast as the storm clouds darkened the sky making everything turn a grayish tint as a King looked over the ebony city from high in dark tower.

"How are you my King?" ConTessa said softly as she wrapped her arms around his chest. Kivar then turned and faced her. "Very well. I say my new kingdom is coming along very nicely." he smirked. "I am pleased." Tess whispered sultry as she ran her hand down his cheek. "But I crave more." Kivar hissed.

"All in good time my Lord." ConTessa said as she left his embrace and hopped around the room. She then picked up one of the swords by the fireplace and pulled it out of its sheath, as she looked at her reflection in the silver metal. "No I want to destroy Rosoline now!" Kivar spat as his anger grew.

Tess looked at him with loving eyes. "You know that temper of yours will get you know where." She said as she twirled the sword in her hand. "We first must destroy Lavilla and then we can go after Roseoline." Tess said as she lunched and pointed the sword in front of her as if she were being attacked.

"I know but it's just frustrating. We shall destroy Lavilla but in the mean time we have to find out what makes Queen Elizabeth tick so that we can destroy her. I want to see her beg for mercy and she grovels at my feet as her kingdom falls. Then the granilith will be mine and I will hold the most powerful weapon. I will be unstoppable and I shall rule all the west." Kivar said as firer grew in his eyes.

"Kivar what if we got the granilith with out Elizabeth knowing it. And then we can destroy her with her own weapon she will never see it coming." Tess said as she grabbed the sword in front of her.

"But how Contessa?" Kivar said making his way towards her. "I have my secrets" Contessa said as she held the sword and hit it against her other hand." Tess said huskily. "Please do tell." Kivar said making her way towards her.

Contess batted her eyes and placed the sword back into its sheath as she slowly walked over to him. She then placed a hand on his chest. "And why should I tell you?" she said breathlessly as she walked closer to him making Kivar walk backwards over to the bed."Becasue I am King and I order you to." He then leaned down on the bed as Contessa hovered above him.

Tess looked down cloyingly and smiled slightly closing her eyes as then looked up at him. "Think about it Kivar. If I know you, you would take me right here and now and make sweet passionate love to me." Tess said breathlessly as she nipped at the space between his lips as he begged to kiss her.

"Yes" Kivar hissed. Tess laughed as she leaned in closer to him so that her cleavage that shown in her very low cut dress was in his sight.

"You can't resist me can you?" Tess said huskily as she looked deep into his eyes. "No" Kivar spat as she straddled him. "And you would do anything as long as I surrendered to you." Tess said as her legs tightened their grip around his body. "Yes..Yes I would do anything." Kivar moaned.

"Well there is your answer." Tess said as she hoped off the bed leaving Kivar groaning from the lost of her touch as the desire inside of him grew. "What?" he said restlessly looking up at her.

Tess then picked up the sword and pulled out its case slowly as she watched is glow in the firelight as her eyes burned. She then turned holding the sword in her hand as she twirled it.

"Your answer my Lord If you learn what Queen Elizabeth's weakness is and use it against her she will have no choice to sir come to your will making you able to take over her kingdom." Tess said as she whirled the sword around her head

"And thus destroying the Queen of Antar." She said as she lunged and gabbed her sword in front of her.

"So you want me to play with her heart" Kivar said coldly. "Yes! You play with Queen Elizabeth’s heart and I assure you the granilith will be putty in your hands." Contessa whispered huskily as she engulfed Kivar with a passionate kiss.

"Consider it done. In the mean time I think I will arrange for Lavilla to have as you say a little wake up call courtesy of me. I think it's time we get this party started a little earlier then expected." Kivar said as he got up and started ordering his guards to send out a small army heading towards the west.
----------------------------------------
"Queen Elizabeth." Senator Grave said "I have called a meeting with the royal senate this afternoon I was hoping to give King Maxwell a proper welcome."

"Of course." Elizabeth said nodding. "Good see you then." Senator Grave said.

The meeting took up most of the day as the royal senate greeted King Maxwell and learned all their was to know about Antar politics and the up coming events about gathering the small group of core knights to take on Kivar and to provide aid to Lavilla and other neighboring countries.

Queen Elizabeth sat quite for most of the time something she was not accustomed to as she stared at Maxwell in action. She was very impressed and touched with how warm and welcoming he had been to the senate.

He was very much a leader and a take-charge type of person as his qualities of a King shown through in how he asserted himself. Yet he was also very respectful and took the time to listen and respect what the senators had to say.

The meeting ended as the council made the closing statements. "It is an honor to have you hear my Lord." Senator Grave said as he shook Maxwell's hand. "It is an honor to be here. Queen Elizabeth was too kind to have taken me in. She is very noble. I owe her my life." Maxwell said as he eyed Elizabeth as he shook the senators hand.

Senator Grave then left leaving Maxwell and Elizabeth alone. "I have to say I found the book Utopia very enjoyable. I could relate a lot to it." Liz said.

"It was a gift. My father gave it to me on my coronation. He told me that even Utopian societies are not perfect but the trick was to make the people think you live in a Utopia despite all it's faults. If you can do that then you are a very successful king." Maxwell said smiling.

"Oh I have your book here." Liz said as she handed Max the book. "Keep it." Maxwell said looking at her. "Oh no I could never do that it was your fathers." Liz protested. "Then consider it my gift to you my Queen for your generosity towards me." Maxwell said gently touching her hand.

Liz smiled. "You father sounds like he was a very honorable man. Tell me what was he like?" Liz said.

Maxwell shook his head and smiled. "My father King Phillip was a very honorable man indeed. He had a very kind and gracious heart and was very generous to who ever he met. However I think he was blind in some areas and tended to trust everyone instead of looking at the real picture. It was what happened between him and Nacasado and ConTessa he was too generous towards them.

I tried to advise him against being to open towards them but he shut me out. Instead his kind deeds stabbed him in the back with the betrayal of Contessa to Kivar and now my father is dead and my kingdom has perished because he was too kind as a result." Maxwell said as a tint of anger ran in his voice.

"Maxwell it was not you or your fathers fault that Antar fell. I can assure you and I will do anything in my power to see that Anatar rises again. I own that to not only you but to myself and my kingdom as well to your father." Liz said with as much love and conviction in her voice.

"You would do that for me?" Maxwell said in aw.

"I am a Queen of my word. I told you as long as I am living I would do anything to keep you safe. I intend to hold true to my promise." Liz said looking deep into his eyes.

They stood in the empty Royal senate meeting room in silence until Maxwell spoke.

"Do you have any other royal duties to attend to today?" Maxwell said looking at her. "No I am done." Elizabeth said shacking her head. "Then it is ok if I ask that you spend the day with me that is if you don't mind." Maxwell said as he waited for her answer.

"No...No that’s fine" Liz hesitated as she answered. They then walked out of the palace.
--------------------------------
"So where are we going?" Elizabeth said as they made their way through the woods. "It's a surprise." Maxwell said as they made their way through the branches of over grown trees until they reached it.

Liz could hear the roar of running water as they entered into the clearing of a huge river at one end it was calm while the other was a rage of rapids as a huge water fall came into view above a very large cliff.

"It's beautiful." Liz whispered as they made their way towards the waters shore. "How did you know about this place? I have been outside of the place many times but never have I come here." Liz said as she and Maxwell sat down on the grass.

"I knew about this place when I was a knight. I traveled to many lands so I pretty much know all there is to know about the landscape." He said as he took off his shoes and leaned back against the grassy knoll. "Dimaras rock this place is called." Maxwell said looking at her.

"It's right after the third moon. See how the rock juts out over the water." Maxwell said pointing to the large rock as Liz nodded.” They say that when the sunsets if the light is just right the water turns crimson red." Maxwell said smiling.

"It's beautiful. Thank you for taking me here." Liz said as she looked at the sight in front of her in aw.

"So you want to go for a swim?" Max said nodding his head towards the water. "Oh um I don't have anything to go swimming in." Liz hesitated realizing her swimming cloths were at the castle.

"That’s ok" Max said as he started to unlace his top. "Wait... you don't mean go skinny dipping?" Elizabeth said looking up at him. "Yes" Max said looking down at her.

"Skinny dipping! This is absurd! I am not stripping down in front of a stranger!" Elizabeth said trying to rationalize the situation. "You don't have to you can undress behind the trees." Max said smiling as he started to pull off his shirt.

"What! This is crazy, I am a Queen I order you to stop!" Elizabeth said forcefully. Maxwell stopped and looked at her. "You can't order me around I am a King remember." he said grinning.

"OK fine! But if you so much as dare look I swear I will have you killed at high noon!" Elizabeth said all flustered as she got up on her feet. "Is that a threat?" Max said laughing. "Don't push me Maxwell!" Elizabeth said as she stormed off to a grove of trees.

"This is crazy me a queen. I can't believe I am doing this. I mean the whole country is going to war and I am hear stripping naked for this stranger." Elizabeth thought to herself as she undressed.

Maxwell watched her leave. He then took off his shirt and placed it down next to shoes. He then glanced up and saw the most breathing sight as he caught a glimpse of Liz's body as she undressed. "She's gorgeous" he said barely a whisper as he stared at her.

He quickly shook his head to clear his daze and finished undressing. "Ok I am ready" Liz said as she slightly turned and gulped when she saw the sight through the trees of Max as her cheeks turned beat red. He was beautiful she thought as she stared at him and then quickly turned her gaze downward as she covered her body.

"I am coming out ok. Don't you dare look!" she cried as she waited as she watched Max in the water. Once his back was to her she quickly ran and jumped into the cool river.

"See that wasn't so bad." Maxwell said as he watched Liz standing there. "Ok maybe it wasn't" she said biting her lower lip. Max smiled. "Come on I want to show you something." he said as he grabbed her hand as they swam.
------------------------------
They then made their way into a small cavern that was inside the waterfall of Dimaras rock. The water cascaded around them as they made their way through the waterfall and into the cavern. Light was reflecting everywhere making the cavern glow.

"It's so beautiful." Liz said as she looked around the cavern in aw. "You like it?" he said softly. "I love it. This is amazing." Liz said softy as they stood in the water. "I figure you won't mind being swept away for a while." Max said smiling.

"This defiantly beats reading books" Liz said laughing. "This is so weird." Liz said awkwardly. "What is?" Max said as he swam backwards. "Us standing here naked." Liz said as a slight blush came over her cheeks. She was grateful that the water covered her body.

Max laughed, "yeah I bet you don't do this everyday." he said as he slowly swam around her. "No this defiantly goes in the history books for me." she said as she followed his movements as she looked at him. "Tell me do you do this with all of the ladies of your kingdom" Liz said looking into his eyes.

"No only the most precious, rare, and deeply beautiful ones." He whispered huskily as he leaned in closer to Liz. "My lady the crimson in your cheeks matches the tint of crimson in the water." Max said seeing the bush in Liz's cheeks.

"What?"

"Look" Maxwell said pointing to the crimson colored water. Liz glanced down and then back up at him. "The sun must be setting. This is incredible!" Liz said as she looked at the red water around her.

"Wow I have never seen this before it's a first for me seeing the water this color as well. It's so beautiful." He said smiling as his eyes sparkled. Liz swam slightly away enjoying the feel of the beautiful water around her.

"Tell me I have poured my heart out to you last night. But I hardly know anything about you. Why is it that you insisted I call you Max? When everyone else calls you Maxwell?" Liz said as she swam closer to him.

"Because I associate Maxwell with my royal title of being King. It's so formal sometimes. Not that it's a bad full name. I don't want you to associate me with being a King. I just want to forget being a royal title and just be myself, just plan old Max when I am with you." he smiled looking into her eyes as he took hold of her hand.

"I want you to see me on a level that not to many people get to see." he said softly. "Call me Liz." Liz said smiling. Max let out the breath he didn't know he was holding and smiled. "Liz" he said softly as if he liked how it sounded.

"But Max why me?" Liz said softly. He then cupped her face with his hand as his thumb rubbed over her cheek. "Because Liz you captivate me. You captivated my heart the moment I saw you." he whispered as he threaded his fingers through her hair.

"And you have captivated mine. Max you are stranger to me yet deep down I feel I know you. I have never felt this way before. I have never felt such a deep connection with someone I have just met and it scares me." She said looking deep into his eyes.

Max smiled as he squeezed her hand. "Don't be scared Liz just let your heart feel" Max whispered as they leaned in closer to each other and closed their eyes as they passionately kissed one another in the crimson water as the golden rays of the sun glowed in the cavern.

Chapter Nine: And So It Begins

Max and Liz held each other tight as their passion and desire grew while they deepened their kiss more.

Their heads moved slowly upward as their lips touched making sure not to break contact as if they both were drinking from a golden cup full of sweet wine. They both sighed and took in a deep breath before opening their eyes.

"Max" Liz said breathlessly as she looked up into his eyes. They both were breathing hard from the intensity of their kiss as they stared at each other. "Liz" Max said breathlessly as he cupped her face and smiled.

"We should go. It is almost night fall and my Kingdom will start to worry." Liz said softly as she caressed the back of Max's neck with her hands as they both stood in the crimsion water.

Truth was Elizabeth would of stayed in that cavern for eternity with Max if he asked her to.

"I know." Max whispered softly as he threaded his fingers through her hair.

"Max what just happened?" Liz whispered looking into his deep beautiful eyes.

"I don't know. Forgive me my Queen" He said softy looking down at her.

"There is nothing to forgive you about" Liz said breathlessly as she engulfed his lips with a passionate kiss. They breathed in deep as passion and fire burned inside of them as they made there way towards a cavern wall as they made love to each others mouth.

They then hit the cavern wall as Liz felt it's hardness against her back and Max continued his assault on her lips. She moaned softly as he pressed up closer against her. She then broke from their kiss. "Max" she said softly "Please this is happening all to fast." she whispered.

Max broke out of his daze and stared at her. "I am sorry I don't know what came over me. I agree we should take things slow." He said nodding slightly as Liz smiled.

"I think it would be wise that we keep this to ourselves." Liz whispered looking into his amber eyes.

"You mean like a secret?" Max said looking up into her deep dark brown eyes.

Liz nodded her head slightly. "Yes. I only say this because I want to protect you. Please you have to trust me on this." Elizabeth said remembering the Oracles words.
Your kingdom is in grave danger if you do not fight you will perish the prophecy is clear. The stranger will have a key factor in your power.

You must trust your heart to do the right thing or you will die as a result. Be alert and stay open the danger is closer then you can imagine.

"I cannot tell you why, at least not now. I only say this because I want to protect you." Liz pleaded softly.

"You are so beautiful I trust your word my lady." Max said softly as he kissed her.

Liz smiled "thank you" she said softly as the two of them hugged each other.

"The sun has set. It's time to go Liz" Max said as he slowly lowered his arms from around her and broke free.

"Thank you Max for tonight." Liz said smiling as she started to swim. They then looked at the cavern one last time before they joined hands and swam through the waterfall and into the river.

They then made sure they found shelter to cover themselves and then got dressed. Once they were dressed they then walked back to the castle while the ebony world of the forest surrounded them.
------------------------------------------------
"King Maxwell Queen Elizabeth there you are thank god my your soaked!" Senator Grave said with relief and concern as he ran down the castle steps as he greeted them. Isabella stood in the background with a vague expression on her face as if she had just seen a ghost.

"That doesn’t matter. Senator Grave what is it? Tell me what’s wrong" Elizabeth said looking at the distressed man in front of her. "It's the kingdom of Lavilla last night they were attacked by Kivar!" Senator Grave cried.

"What? What happened! Is Alex alright?" Liz said in shock as her eyes widened in aw.

"Yes Sir Alex and his knights arrived this morning. Apparently there was a small group of knights who attacked last night. However the kingdom did not suffer greatly but had some damage. We just received word tonight about the incident." Senator Grave said.

"Senator send word to King Larrick of Lavilla at once telling him that I will send aid at once!" Liz cried as the Senator hurried with her orders. Elizabeth then gave Isabella a reassuring hug that everything would be all right. "I was so worried" Isabel said as tears filled her eyes.

"Do not cry Isabel I will make sure Alex and everyone is safe." Elizabeth whisper.

"I have to go to the senate tonight." Elizabeth said as she gave Isabella's hand a squeeze. Isabella then left.

Liz then turned and faced Max. "I have to go." she whispered. "I understand. I wish I could help" Max said softly. "I know" Liz said looking into his loving eyes. She then took a deep breath. "Good night Maxwell." Liz said softly.

"Good night Queen Elizabeth." he said softy as his hand brushed slightly over the top of her's as they gave each other one last look before Elizabeth ran into the night as her dress fluttered out around her.

Chapter Ten: A Light in the Dark

For most of the night Elizabeth sat with the Royal Senate as a plan of action was advised with how to deal with the sudden turn of advents.

"My Queen is there any neighboring country that can help Lavilla in the meantime?" Senator Grave said looking at his Queen as they sat in the royal senate room.

"Non I am afraid see to it though that King Larrick get word that we will do anything we can to help him." Elizabeth said as her mind raced a mile a minute trying to think of another solution but alas she could not come up with any other plan.

"But your highness the city of Lavilla could be burned and destroyed in an hour if we do not attack Kivarth now!" One senator yelled from across the table.

"You don't think I know that!" Elizabeth yelled as anger and frustration filled her body as she got up from her chair and stared the senate down. Tears were welling up in her eyes but she didn't cry her body was too num with frustration.

She then rubbed her hands along her face and took a deep breath. "Look I am trying my best to do what’s right here. I don't want to see any blood shed if I can avoid it. I doubt that Kivar would attack the same city two nights in a row.

He must have done it as a sign what’s in store to come. As of right now all we can do is wait. That is all for now. I call this council to a close." Elizabeth said as she turned to leave.

The senate dispatched and went their separate ways. "Senator Grave the first minute you hear anything let me know." Elizabeth said looking at him as they left the room. "Yes my lady. Good night" Senator Grave said as he bowed and left.

Elizabeth then hurried out of the Senate room tired and frustrated she was glad the meeting was over but was a wreck over the events that had just happened she needed to get away from the politics of life for a while and try to get her mind off of the changing events.

King Maxwell spent the rest of the evening with Isabella. After Liz had left he figured Isabella might want some company especially with everything that had been going on with the recant attack.

He found her walking not far way from the castle after Liz left and decided to join her. "Mind if I walk with you?" Maxwell said as he looked at Isabella. "No" she sighed as they walked towards her wing in the palace.

They entered her cottage and sat down. "I am going to make some tea. You look like you could use one you are soaking wet." she said taking off her cloak as she looked at the stranger. Maxwell then sat down on one of the wooden chairs that was by a table near the firer.

"Tell me where did you take my sister? It looks like you two went for a swim." Isabel said with a curious look on her face as she poured some water into the kettle over the blazing firer.

Maxwell blushed slightly he was glad that Isabel's back was to him. "We were down by Dimaras Rock near the river." He said shyly. "Oh and you both just happen to have fallen in?" Isabel said smirking slightly as she went and got some mugs. "Do you always ask this many questions?" Maxwell said looking at her.

Isabel then sat down. "What can I say she is my sister. I worry about her. She has so much on her shoulders being Queen. I just want to make sure she is safe. It's ok if you don't tell me. I know you like her." Isabel said softly looking into Maxwell's eyes.

Maxwell didn't say anything but looked at Isabel a little in shock. Isabel smiled "It's the sister instinct in me I can tell these things." She said as she got up and made the tea.

"Well one thing I can assure you is that she got back safe and sound." Maxwell said looking at Isabel. "I know you wouldn't hurt her." Isabel said softy as she poured a cup of tea and handed it to Max.

"So tell me how are you holding up?" Maxwell said as the two drank their tea. "Ok. This whole night was just a shock. I am still a little uneasy but I am fine. I am just so thankful Alex is safe." Isabel said sighing. "You must love him very much." Maxwell said looking at her.

"I do. He is so wonderful and a truly kind hearted person. He truly is a gift of a man. I just hate it every time he goes to battle of on a mission it's so hard." Isabel said as her hands shook as she tried to drink her tea.

Maxwell placed his hand on Isabel’s "My lady as being a former knight myself I can assure he feels the same way when he has to leave." Maxwell said softly. Isabel smiled "Thank you." "You were a knight I didn't know that." Isabel said as she drank her tea.

"I was I fought in many great battles and brought peace to many lands. I don't so much miss the fighting or the killing but the bond of friendship I had with my knights. They were some of the noblest and honest people I know." Maxwell said as his mind drifted back to his knight hood days. "I have to agree with you there.

Alex's friends are the bravest and strongest people I know. It's nice when they stop by. Tell me what were your friends like?" Isabel said as she emptied her cup. "Where to begin there are so many stories." Maxwell said smiling as he rubbed his forehead.

"Well let’s start with your travels I know so many of Alex stories. I even got the chance to go on some with him. It will be fun to compare." Isabella said smiling.

For the rest of the night Maxwell and Isabella traded stories about their travels and old friends.
------------------------------
"Wow would you look at the time." Isabel said laughing. "I really should get going." Maxwell said laughing as he looked at the clock. He then got up and put on his cloak. "Thank you Maxwell for keeping me company tonight. I really needed a good laugh." Isabella said as she walked Maxwell to the door.

"Anytime I know how hard it is for all of us. It was nice spending time with you as well. Alex is a very lucky man." Maxwell said smiling as he gave Isabella a hug. "Thank you. I hope you are enjoying my old room. You know there is a secret passage way in there. It's by the firer place where that tapestry is.

If you look really closely you will be able to see it. It connected to Elizabeth’s room. When we were little we were always using it to sneak in and out of the palace with out anyone knowing we were gone. It was great well that is until our father caught on. He was furious with us and tired to board it up." Isabel said laughing as she waved her hand.

"But that was years ago. God we were such rebels me and my sister." Isabel said shacking her head. "Anyway thank you again for tonight." Isabel said looking at Max. "It was an honor Isabella. Good night." Maxwell said. "Good night" Isabel said as she closed the door to her place.
------------------------------------
Maxwell walked along the marble courtyard as he made his way back to the castle. The stars were shinning and despite everything that was going wrong in the world tonight it was just beautiful. A cool breeze blew past him as he walked up the steps to a ledge in the middle of the courtyard.

He looked up and stared up at the stars and sighed. Even though he prayed for his family to be safe return, in a way it was a blessing to be here in Roseolin. He never felt so at home or so free in his life. He sighed as he approached and saw a huge tower coming into sight. The tower was massive and very beautiful as it shinned in the moonlight.

He then froze and stopped when he saw a light on in one of the windows. The curtains were drawn and he could see the silhouette of a woman standing there as she undressed. His eyes grew larger as he stared at her in aw as more and more of her body was exposed. The background of the closed curtains glowed as the woman stood out clearly.

Even though she was all in shadow she was the most beautiful and fragile creature Maxwell had ever seen. He was almost afraid that because she was so beautiful if he touched her she would break as if she were made of porcelain.

He watched her graceful movements as her long hair waved around about her. The woman looked so innocent and yet so erotic at the same time.

The more Maxwell watched her the more he wanted her as his eyes grew with desire. And then in the blink of an eye she was gone as the glow from the curtains died and the woman vanished in the darkness.

Maxwell then sighed and walked closer to where the entrance to the castle was it was on the same side as the tower. He entered the building and made his way towards his room.
-------------------------
Once inside he undressed and lay on his bed replaying the events that had happened during the day and how despite the current crisis it was the happiest day of his life as he smiled knowingly.

He then got up to fix the firer so that the room was warmer. As the amber flames rose Max noticed a tapestry near by. He looked at it remembering what Isabel had said about the secret passage way and wondered if it was still boarded up.

He removed the tapestry to one side exposing the wall and sure enough there was a small door near the bottom. Maxwell then crouched own and inspected the door.

No boards where around it as far as he could see. He tried the knob and sure enough the door opened. He was sure he would of found a brick wall on the other side but to his surprise he saw an empty hall way leading up to a very small fight of stairs. He then entered the hallway and explored his surroundings.

Once he reached the stairs he climbed up them. There was a very small window along the stairwell that over looked the city. Maxwell passed the window that over looked the sleeping kingdom.

It was then that he realized he was in a tower and he knew actually whose tower it was and he climbed the stairs with much need and anticipation.
