Nancy Allen hurried through the cold black rain towards the steps of the church. She had to protect her little girl from her parents, it wasn't that they were cruel and abusive or extremely set in strict ways, it was because they had only encouraged her to get pregnant so they could have one of the prophecised ones. Even now, at two days old, she carried the mark of three. One day she years from now she would meet two other people and they would form the strongest bond since the elements walked the earth.
"Forgive me Liz" she whispered to her daughter as she shoved a letter in between the thick blankets her baby was wrapped in. She banged on the door of the church until lights came on through the small glass windows on the door then she raced back down the steps and into the night.

"Push Diane!"
"I am pushing!" cried Diane as she squeezed her husbands hands, she roared then it gave way to baby's tears
"It's a boy! You have a son" said the doctor
"My Max" she said as she slumped back against the pillow "My little baby boy" the doctor cleaned him up then handed him to her. She craddled her new born son in her arms and looked up at Phillip
"We created a life" he whispered "Maxwell Phillip Evans" he said, Max opened his mouth and curled his hands up near his face
"My God Phillip! He's beautiful" she whispered
"Wait, what's that?" asked Phillip pointing to something on his new born son's wrist. He carefully held it to see three interlocking ovals all meeting inside a circle.
"It's just a birth mark" she said deep down she knew what this was and she was going to do everything and anything in her power to protect her son.

"I said get him away from me!" she shrieked
"But Michelle! He's your son!" protested Jim Valenti
"No! Get him away from me!" she roared picking up the plastic jug of water and flung it at him and the new baby boy in his arms. He ducked it but got covered. The nurse lead him out before Michelle got her hands on heavier and sharper objects. Jim carried Kyle out into the hall and sat down
"Don't worry son. I'll be here for you, I promise" he said as he craddling his boy.

Liz walked down the street, she was on her way back to the church she had called home for the first six years of her life. She always came back around this time every year. She rooted in her back for her phone, the damn thing was going off again then she felt it. That burning itch over her heart, right on her birthmark. She looked up just in time to see someone crash into her as she turned the corner, both of them fell down and she put her hand over her heart thinking that that would stop the pain.
"Uh ah are you okay?" winced the guy who had crashed into her. He had his hand over his wrist
"I'm fine, oh did you cut your wrist?" she asked as she blushed, this guy was a god! She knelt up as he moved his hand to show a very red and painful looking triquetra birth mark on his wrist, she gasped and looked up into his deep brown eyes when someone else came round the corner and tripped over them.
"OMG I am so sorry" she apologised as she helped the other boy up
"Oh no!" he cried "I broke my phone" he said as he pulled it from his back pocket "My dad is going to kill me!"
"Look, really it was my fault" said Max as he looked over the blue eyed boy next to him "Let me pay for a new one"
"No I couldn't let you do that. I should have been watching where I was going"
"You did trip over me. It's as much as my fault as anyone's Liz pointed out" she rose to her feet "I'm Liz" she said as he held out her hand to Max and Kyle
"My name's Maxwell Evans" he said as he took her hand and lifted himself off the ground. He held his hand out for Kyle who was still dusting himself off. He took both of their hands and pulled himself up
"The names Kyle" he said then gasped as he felt something ease the burning pain he felt on the back of his neck. He looked them over and knew that there was something different about these two, like he had been waiting for him "Is it just me or do you feel..."
"Different?" Max and Liz said at the same time interrupting him. He nodded
"Yeah" he replied "Different"
"But it's just us three" said Liz
"Like we were waiting" added Max as he felt the same strange energy
"To find each other" Kyle finished and they nodded "Do you want to grab some coffee?"
"Sure" smiled Liz as she reached out and took his hand once more. That familiar shot of energy crackled up her arm. She took Max's hand in her other and got the same reaction. Max smiled forgetting why he had been on that path and where he had been going. Kyle forgot all about meeting his dad at the station and Liz forgot all about going to the church.
