OOC: I don't know if this is what you had in mind at all storm, but if you want me to change it just say. I was struggling to think of something to do, but I know I've been putting this off for too long, sorry

~Alex~

Will my dad never give up on this…? I tell him over and over that I’m not interested in his cadets and such. I don’t want to be in the military… Unlike most guys my age, I don’t find the idea of having a gun exciting, and I don’t look on the chance to ‘serve my country’ as being heroic…

I accept fully that at some times fighting is necessary… I myself have fought with my older brothers so many times… And I have to say, I’ve gotten pretty good at it to say that I’m still by far the shrimp of the brood. My brothers are older and stronger than me…but when it comes down to it, I can hold my own…

The difference between us is that I don’t fight for fun though…they loved all the cadet training and such our father put them in for. I on the other hand have absolutely no interest.

I guess if I’m honest, my friends are more of a family than my dad or brothers… I have four very close friends, for whom I would do pretty much anything… They’re not exactly your average high school students – well not three of them anyway…they’re different, but I don’t care… The world would be pretty boring if everyone were the same…

I shrug and screw up the notice advertising the new cadet force, throwing it towards my bin. It misses of course…I’m not exactly co-ordinated, or skilled when it comes to sport – I tend to leave that to Kyle… I shake my head, getting up and grabbing it from the floor before depositing it in the bin and then returning to my desk.

My laptop is all set out and I touch to unlock the screen before I continue with what I was doing. I’m working on a new programme for computer studies…as it happens I’m almost done though and as I save it to my portable storage, I close the lid on my computer and grab my cell from the windowsill.

If I’m still here when my dad comes back, I know there’s going to be trouble, and right at this moment in time I really don’t want to deal with it. Therefore, the solution is to get out of here, and the best way is to try and arrange to meet some of the others. It’s been a while since we had a movie night…and maybe Max or Maria will let me crash for the night after at their place…

I shrug, deciding the idea is as good as any other and pressing a speed dial number. “Come on Max…pick up…” I mutter to myself as I wait to see if I’ll get any reply.

OOC: A couple of things 1) I hope it was ok to use Kyle and Maria, I just wanted to get this started, I can change it if people want
2) Tess will feel Michael soon, again, I just wanted to get started
3) Storm, I hope this is ok/ kinda what you had in mind
4) Amy Deluca owns the Crashdown and Maria works there- mostly just so the squad can have somewhere to hang out- again if it isn’t ok I can change it
5) MOST IMPORTANT!! Storm is the NICEST individual on the planet- probably other ones too. Just in case any one was in doubt I wanted to make that clear.

That is all…

~*TESS*~

Kyle and I are hanging out after school at the Crashdown waiting for Max and Trevor to finish work and waiting for Maria to bring us a plate of cheese fries and take a break. I’m currently a little on edge as I feel like something is about to happen, like I’ve forgotten something important, or something is about to go wrong. Kyle is his usual funny self, cracking jokes and trying to entertain me, but I just can’t concentrate. I tune aging just in time to hear him protest loudly: ‘Hey c’mon Tess! You’re missing most of my best lines here’

‘I’m sorry, Kyle, I’m just a little spacy today’

‘Now that was a bad joke to rival some of mine’ he says with a smile.

I give a small smile back, feeling bad about my earlier inattention. I try to forget the feeling of foreboding in my stomach and concentrate on him.
‘So what do you want to do tonight? Movie? Pool? Pizza and a video?’

He takes one of my hands in his large ones and squeezes gently before letting it fall back to the table. ‘You know we don’t have to do anything if you aren’t up for it. I could just take you home, if you want’

‘No Kyle, I’m sure it was nothing. I’ll be fine. Besides it’s Friday, we always all go out on Fridays.’

Just then Maria appears with cheese fries in hand. She slides into the booth beside Kyle.
‘I only have a few minutes, my mom is on her this-is-a-serious-job-not-an-opportunity-to-hang-out-with-your-friends-and-get-paid-for-it-rants’

Kyle and I look at each other and can’t help it. He guffaws behind his hand before turning it into a choking cough. I barely manage to hold in my giggles, but turn bright red with the effort.

‘It’s not funny guys. You know how she gets’ Maria pouts for a few more seconds before her natural bubbly personality overcomes her parental frustrations and she giggles too.

‘So what are we doing tonight?’

‘We were just discussing that. What do you want to do? I vote for dinner out and the new chick flick’

I know eventually I’ll be outvoted, the perils of hanging out with mostly guys, but I figure I’ll at least mention it and see what happens. Kyle makes a face immediately but because he is worried about me, and being solicitous, he turns to Maria to see what her take is.

"Time to go, Trevor," I smile across the UFO center. It's a weeknight so Milton closes pretty early. There's still time to get together with the rest of the gang across the street and see what's being planned. Trevor hurries over and hangs up his yellow vest for the night, too.

It's strange working in the UFO center when you really are an alien. It started as just a job but it does seem that there may be some real information hidden in all this flash and hype. It's hard to find and even then, I'm never quite sure if it's the real thing. Trevor really seems interested and sometimes we discuss it amoung ourselves but it's usually pretty superficial since Maria, Tess and I have never told him about what we are. Only Kyle and Alex know and they've been really great about it. A few careful comments have kept Kyle's dad from ever thinking the three of us are anything but normal. Still, Tevor is part of the group, most of the time.

"Right behind you, Max," he says as we head up the stairs to the street level.

"Isn't that a beautiful sight?" I comment as we cross the street towards the Crashdown.

"You're that hungry, are you?" Trevor laughs.

"Sure. Why not?" I ask. Somehow, I always have an appetite. Sometimes I think it's something to do with being alien, but Trevor seems to eat just as much. I guess Mom's right. It's just 'cause we're 'growing teen-aged boys.'

But just now, it's not even my appetite that's driving me. I just need to see Tess and Maria. Somehow, I just feel like I should check on them, to be sure they're okay. I'm often a bit paranoid, a side-effect of having so many secrets, I'm sure, but this is different. This feels almost real. Like there's something really wrong, I just don't know what. But even from here, I can see both Tess and Maria through the window and I can see they're fine.

Just then, my cell phone rings. A quick glance at the screen tells me who it is. "Alex? How are you doing?"

~Isabel~

The time was coming, I knew well that whatever was happening now. When we left here and went to Roswell to find our friend, I knew that I was going to be changed. It was a sense of foreboding that I decided to keep hidden. Still, the words of the wind I'd heard early this morning replayed over in my head. Love Waits. As far as I was concerned it could keep waiting, but I knew from things my family had said, that it was a message from the ancestors who guided us in everything we did.

With a sigh, I look at my cousins and our other friend Serena. "We'd better make our ways home and tell our parents. No matter what, we're going to Roswell and we will find Michael and bring him home."

I wasn't about to give up and I rather doubted that he was dead. We'd know. I'm not sure how I know that, but I do. There was a reason that he was brought to us and us to him and the connection we'd all had with him was nearly immediate. I would find him. One way or the other, no matter how long it took. He was like a brother to me and I wasn't about to let him down. "Adam's place is closest, let's go there then we can call the family together..." My voice trailed off as I saw the silver winged hawk gliding down through the sky and before the hawk landed beside me, it was already shifting into the form of my grandfather.

"Grandfather Finn, what brings you here?" I asked, already having an idea what it was. My grandfather rarely was in the dark. He was the patriarch of our family and one day my father would take his place and unless I had a little brother that was old enough, I would have to take my dad's place. Something I didn't want, but had already come to understand.

"Isabel, children." He started as he looked over at everyone gathered. "Ye'r parents have aquired new residence's for all of ye. Make ye'r way to Morgana's and then be prepared to fly." He laughed softly, causing the tanned cheeks to lift and dimples to crease the sides of his lips. He was tall, his hair in human form was as dark as midnight and he was absolutely imposing as he stood well over six feet, nearly seven. His emerald eyes were ageless and yet wisdom filled each fleck of color. Even though he was well over sixty he looked much like a twenty year old.

"We'll be there soon, grandfather." It wasn't surprising for her that her family already knew that they needed to go to Roswell. Aunt Morgana and Uncle Sebastion were often scrying and if Aunt Anastasia had felt the emotions from them, then they would have spoken and scried.

Without another word, Finn transformed back into his hawk form and flew off. Shaking my head, I smiled slightly. Grandfather Finn had always enjoyed traveling the very way I myself enjoyed to travel. Looking at the others I motioned toward the vehicles, "Let's go. By the end of tonight we should be in Roswell."

This was one time I didn't mind the interference of our parents. Normally their scrying annoyed me.

"A chick flick?" I say, increduluously, pulling a sour face as if I'm about to puke. "How about the new Adam Sandler?" I ask. His movies are always filled with lots of random violence and stupidly funny situations. I know Tess doesn't really appreciate his humor. She insists it's nothing but 'potty jokes' but I think it's great. I'm willing to be talked into a more girl-friendly movie for her sake, but not a full-fledged 'chick-flick.'

We were moving again. To find Michael. I wanted to find Michael. I wanted to know that he was okay. yes, I wanted these things for my own selfish reasons, becuase I didn't know if I could handle things if they turned out any differently. But I didn't want to move.

The last time we'd moved, to come here, it had been after my parents had died, and I couldn't help but feel that this move would mean bad things again.

Yet, at the same time I was filled with some sort of excitement about it, like I could feel that the trip might not be all horrible. That something good might happen there.

I pulled my keys back out of my pocket now that everything was decided, feeling my stomach tie itself in knots of nervousness and slight anticipation as I looked over at Isabel and asked her,"You want a ride?" Since now we had to all go home and pack, and otherwise get ready to go.

~Michael~

I wake up with a tremendous headache. Automatically, I reach for my forehead to try to ease it but it's only my hand. There's no healing energy to be found; something's blocking my powers. That's when I remember how they'd grabbed me and the transfer at the airport. Roswell, New Mexico. Home of the flying saucer crash. Lovely.

What about Cameron and Isabel? Are they okay? I hope they got out safe. If they're stuck in this because of me... I didn't see them when the goons put me on the truck. Hopefully that means they're free. 'Stay safe, girls,' I think, wishing they could hear me.

With a low groan, I roll over and open my eyes. I'm lying on a narrow metal cot with a thin mattress like they used to have at camp when I was a kid. I'm in a white room no more than ten-by-ten, containing only the cot, a folding chair, a small card table, a sink and a tankless toilet. On one wall, there's a large mirror. No doubt a two-way mirror so they can watch me.

With a sigh, I sit up and then walk to the mirror. Looking carefully, I can see the slight double image. Yup. From the other-side, it's a window. I wonder how many are watching now? What are they writing on their notepads?

I turn away from the mirror and try to think. No doubt they're listening in, too. I could start shouting, but I hardly think that will help, although staying silent is kinda an admission, too, isn't it? Unless I'm to try and make them think I'm too naive to know that I'm being watched.

Shaking my head, I go and sit down on the cot again. My stomach feels a little strange. Not quite like I'm hungry, and not pain, but it is uncomfortable. I wish there were something here to pass the time. Anything. A crossword puzzle. Even just a pad of paper and a crayon so I could draw something. There isn't even a clock to watch.

I have a feeling I'm going to be here a long time...

'Adam Sandler? C'mon Kyle, could we at least try to maintain a semblance of intelligence? I mean how many times can you see a grown man act like a 7 year old before it gets old? Can't we compromise? What about action, with romance? A little something for everyone?'

I check my watch, not quite worried about Max and Trevor yet, but considering it.
'When did Max say they were finishing work? I thought they would be here by now.'

"He is here," I say, nodding towards the glass storefront. Max and Trevor are right outside. Max is on the phone."

Then I turn to look at Tess again. "I can go with action with romance. That sounds cool. Anything particular in mind?"

I look to where Kyle is pointing and do indeed see Max on the phone and Trevor lounging beside him. Relieved I sit back and I'm about to answer his question when I'm hit with a shooting pain right behind my eyes. Gasping I close my eyes tightly hoping the pain will ease and when I do I see a boy, about our age, lying on a cot with a hand on his forehead in a white room.
Quickly the scene changes to a ring, spinning in the dust and then both images are gone, replaced by the normal blackness I see when I close my eyes.

I blink slowly, realising that as fast as it came, the pain is gone, and the feeling that something is about to happen is replaced by the knowledge that it whatever it is, has begun.

When my eyes are fully open I see Kyle still sitting across from me, but now his face is filled with concern and his hand is reaching across the table.
