Category: Roswell movie script
Rating: TEEN.
Summary: When an alien ship brings the gang to another world, their ideals are tested against inhuman politics.
Author's note: This is my 'script frenzy' for june 2007. (visit us on the web at http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/ ) Spoilers up to 'Destiny'. Liz didn't leave town the summer after season 1. Sorry Kyle lovers, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to squeeze him in.

I'll be updating this in script format at http://home.cogeco.ca/~ckenworthy1/holiday.pdf Might be easier to read that way than on the board.

1 EXT. DESERT LANDSCAPE - MORNING 1
Establishing shot - an airborne view of New Mexico landscape,
camera moving over it. Wide patches of desert, some scrubby
green and rough rocky hills dotting it.
LIZ (V.O.)
July 10th, 2000. Starting a brand
new journal today, so I guess I
might as well do a bit of recap. My
name is Liz Parker, I'm seventeen
years old, and I live in Roswell.
Ask anybody what they know about
Roswell, New Mexico, and if they
know anything, they'll probably say
something about the supposed UFO
landing in 1947.
At this point, a town should become visible in the distance,
not a big place, a mix of factories, houses, stores, and
other assorted buildings.
LIZ (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Fun fact - Roswell was actually not
the closest town to the crash site,
then or now, but it was probably
the biggest place in the area. Ask
those people if they really believe
in UFOs or Aliens, and they'll
either say no, laugh at you, look
at you like you're crazy, or maybe
come up with some exceedingly vague
hedge about how big the universe
is.
City is growing bigger.
LIZ (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Okay, here's the big surprise.
There are still aliens living in
Roswell, New Mexico. and I'm one of
the few people who even suspect
that much. In fact, I was dating an
alien guy... might, in fact, still
be dating him, though it's a pretty
complicated situation. You see...
And we're zooming in on a few buildings right at the center
of town, probably too fast to see much of them.
2.
MARIA (V.O.)
(Breaking in)
Come *on* Liz, your shift's
starting. As in, right now!
2 INT LIZ'S BEDROOM - DAY 2
This is a tasteful, but still feminine space - the sort that
you might expect from a very driven college student instead
of a high schooler. The bed is made, and very little if
anything is untidy. There is a large window in the background
that leads onto a ledge big enough for at least four people
to set up lawn chairs.
Liz Parker, a pretty, slender girl with straight dark brown
hair, is sitting at her desk and writing. She is already
wearing a Crashdown Cafe waitress outfit - a light aqua-blue
smock sort of deal with a moderately short hem. She scribbles
a few more words.
LIZ : (V.O.)
Oops, gotta go. More later. LP.
And she puts the journal into a desk drawer, LOCKS it,
pockets the key, and picks something else up from the desk.
It's a hair barrette with goofy flexible antennae sticking up
out of the top of it. Liz sets this into her hair, gets up,
adjusts it slightly in a mirror (that we may not be able to
see,) and exits into foreground.
3 INT CRASHDOWN DINING ROOM 3
A fairly standard diner, at first glance. It would take a
sharp eye to notice some of the tacky alien decorations, or
the UFO-themed specials up on the wall. However, it's hard to
notice that the place isn't full. There are maybe eleven
customers sitting down, including some that are major
characters. LIZ and MARIA stand somewhere convenient to
survey the room. Maria is a girl of about Liz's age, and
standing next to her it is clear just how short Liz is. Maria
is wearing the same sort of uniform, and she has dark blonde
hair that is just starting to grow past chin length.
LIZ
This is all of the business that
we've got??
MARIA
It's picked up a little since this
morning, actually.
3.
(Someone waves her over,
and she gets a cheque
ready and heads over. Liz
follows.)
What do you expect? 'Anniversary of
the crash' season is over.
LIZ
Not yet! Fifty-three years ago
today, somebody-or-other held the
weather balloon press conference.
And anyway, we normally have more
steady business than this through
the summer, don't we?
MARIA
(Offering the customer her
cheque,)
But things aren't normal around
here, Liz.
Liz opens her mouth, but isn't quite sure what to say. Maria
circles around her, heading behind the counter, to the window
where orders are passed through from the kitchen.
MICHAEL
What do you want now??
MICHAEL is the cook. He's a tall and studly guy of around 17,
with a bit of Dylan McKay's attitude. Right now, though, he
looks pretty tired of being covered with grease.
MARIA
The asteroid burger order that I
put in five minutes ago. (Pause)
And a night out - nothing fancy,
maybe burgers for ourselves and
movie?
MICHAEL
I'll see what I can do about the
order.
LIZ turns around at this point, walking back through the
dining room. She checks on a few customers to make sure that
they don't need anything, and then steps up to the far booth.
There are three more teens sitting here - two guys, MAX and
ALEX, and a beautiful girl, ISABEL.
LIZ
Hey, mind if I grab a seat for a
moment before any duty actually
calls out loud?
4.
The three of them trade a look, and then MAX gestures to the
free seat opposite him, which is next to Alex. Liz sits.
LIZ (CONT'D)
(in a lower tone)
How's it going, Max?
MAX
Ehh... not too bad. Milton's been
keeping me busy at the museum,
which helps. But... well, if this
is representative of the tourist
season for the next month or so in
general...
(He looks over the
sparsely occupied room,)
I'm going to have more time to
think about what it was like to
enjoy the hospitality of the White
Room...
ISABEL
Come on, please, don't talk about
that.
(She shudders.)
LIZ
Okay, how about a different topic.
Do either of you have plans for the
rest of the day?
Liz's tone is faintly teasing, and both Alex and Isabel look
sightly uncomfortable, but there is some spark between the
two that neither of them can quite deny.
ALEX
Umm, maybe head out to the park and
see if anybody shows up for the
Alien Abduction party. Anybody else
up for that?
ISABEL
Oh, please - the last thing I need
is some alien guy to show up and
whisk me off to his home planet.
LIZ
Yeah, he'd probably hold you
prisoner until you agreed to marry
him or something.
5.
MAX
Speaking of plans, Liz... I was
hoping that we could do something
tonight. Doesn't have to be a big
deal - walk around and talk or
something, grab some snacks?
Now it's Liz who seems clearly uncomfortable.
LIZ
I... I'd like to, Max, but I'm
still not sure if that's a good
idea. What... what about Tess?
MAX
(suddenly very firm.)
Tess isn't a substitute for you. No
matter how badly she might want to
be, no matter what we heard last
fall. She - she wasn't there, for
like all of last year, and she
doesn't seem to understand how much
it matters to me - all the stuff
that happened before she dropped
into town. She - she never *could*
identify with all the things I've
shared only to you, Liz. I... I
want to be friends with Tess, I
want to understand her, but I don't
think she could ever be my partner,
my soulmate. And I REFUSE to
believe that Reincarnation is
Destiny.
LIZ
Well, that's all very nice to hear,
Max, I'll admit that much. But have
you thought about what Tess might
do if she gets pissed off at you?
Max opens his mouth to reply when a CELL PHONE rings. All of
the kids check their pockets, and Max brings his out. He
looks at the display, blinks slightly in reaction, and takes
the call.
MAX:
Yes, hello?
CELL PHONE
Hi, Max. I have something that I
think you'll want to see.
6.
Max shudders intensely when he first heard the voice, but
then catches himself.
MAX
Uhh... Nasedo? Is that you?
CELL PHONE
Never call me by that name, Max.
Someone might hear.
MAX
Should I call you Mister Pierce
then? Wouldn't anybody listening
find that suspicious too? Besides,
nobody else is anywhere close but
my frien--
CELL PHONE
Just don't bother. Max, before I
left for Washington, you said that
there were a few things that I
should try to find out if the
Special Unit still had, and to
report back, right?
MAX
Umm, yeah, actually. I forgot about
that, but...
CELL PHONE
Reporting back. I've found one of
them - the original vessel from the
crash. It's been reassembled and is
working order. I'll be bringing it
to Roswell soon. Bye Max.
MAX
Huh?
He looks at the phone, realizes that the line is dead, and
shuts it off.
LIZ
Max, what is it?
MAX
That was... our non-friend who went
to join the FBI. He says that he's
got a ship to show us.
ISABEL
A ship?
7.
4 EXT. DESERT MIDDLE OF NOWHERE - AFTERNOON 4
There's a highway off in the distance with cars passing by,
and a small stand of trees, against which our heroes stand in
order to avoid being easily spotted. Everyone we met by name
already is here - LIZ, MARIA, MICHAEL, MAX, ISABEL, and ALEX -
and one other girl: TESS. She is short like LIZ, and very
cute, with curly blonde hair and a bouncy figure, but beneath
her pale blue eyes hides a spark of deceptive canniness.
MICHAEL
Why did you ask him about the ship
anyway, Max? I mean... it's not
like you'll ever use it to GO
anywhere! You're too wild about
staying right here in Roswell.
MAX
I dunno for sure - guess that after
we got that message from... from
the old alien queen, that anything
that might tell us more about our
alien sides or give us more options
would be helpful.
(sighs.)
I DIDN'T expect him to just drop
everything and bring it straight to
us even if he found it.
LIZ
(thoughtful)
But you didn't tell him NOT to,
either?
MAX
Well... I guess that I didn't at
that.
TESS
Why are THEY even here, Max?
(points at LIZ, MARIA, and
ALEX)
They're not a part of our... of
whatever you might be hoping to
find out about from OUR ship.
MARIA
(jumping in quickly)
No, but we've become a part of
everything that has happened to...
8.
to our friends while they've been
trying to find this stuff out.
We're not going to go away just
because you come to town, Tess
Harding, and because they're
starting to find out a few answers
MAX
Yeah, I agree with that. Liz,
Maria, Alex - you've been good
friends and if you want to still
take part in anything that we're
doing, then you're welcome to.
Nobody is saying that you HAVE to
still be a part of this - things
might get dangerous, especially if
there are alien enemies who know
now a little about who and where we
are. But your invites are still
good.
MICHAEL and ISABEL seem uncomfortable, but don't speak up
against MAX - almost as if they want him to be a leader so
badly that they won't undermine him when he's taking that
role.
ALEX
Well, I guess I'd love to see what
an alien spaceship looks like.
Never thought I'd get a chance - at
least, not before... well, you
know.
TESS
So, that's all anybody's gonna do
with the ship? Look at it??
ISABEL
I think that that's quite enough to
start... just blasting off and
heading to some other world without
considering the consequences could
be dangerous, Tess. We need to be
smart about this.
MAX
Well said. So, does anybody else
have any other official business?
MICHAEL
Not really. Been keeping an eye out
for any newcomers in town.
9.
There's a drift-in who just started
working at the cafe...
MARIA
Who, the blonde waitress? She's
annoying but harmless.
LIZ
Which is exactly the reaction that
an alien agent would probably want
to provoke - well, the harmless
part anyway.
ISABEL
Anything else??
Most of the kids look around at each other silently.
ALEX
Nothing official, anyway.
MAX
(laughing softly)
Okay, then the official meeting is
adjourned!
ISABEL shoots a look at TESS, then MICHAEL, and sidles close
to ALEX.
ISABEL
I, umm, I'd like to take you up on
your invite to go out to the park
together tonight.
ALEX
(a little surprised.)
The alien abduction thing? I... I
thought that you didn't want to
have anything to do with it.
(unsaid: 'or with me.')
ISABEL
Well, I guess I was a little hasty.
It's not like it's really asking
for trouble to hang out with the
UFO nuts, here in Roswell, and
they'll probably be throwing an
okay party.
MARIA
(dropping another anvil on
him.)
10.
Michael... any interest in checking
it out yourself?
MICHAEL gives MARIA a look, rolls his eyes slightly, and
flirts back against his better judgement.
MICHAEL
Yeah, but I wouldn't want to crowd
Izzie or Alex.
MARIA
Well, you can hang with me then.
MICHAEL
Sure, I guess... just as friends,
right?
(he winks)
Maria shakes her head at him.
MARIA
Spaceboy, my spaceboy... we might
not be a couple, but we'll never be
'just friends.'
TESS, watching all of this going on, decides to make her move
and crosses over to MAX.
TESS
How about it, Max?
MAX
(playing dumb on purpose)
How about WHAT?
LIZ hesitates for a second and then takes action of her own,
slightly conflicted at the prospect of one-upping TESS.
LIZ
Actually... we have plans tonight -
sorry.
She stands very close next to MAX, in an implicit invitation
for him to put an arm around her. MAX does. TESS reacts to
their closeness, and LIZ seems a bit uncomfortable with what
she's done. MAX is obviously on cloud nine though.
TESS
Okay, got it. Need to figure out my
own thing for tonight. As usual...
11.
TESS heads off to her car, a pale blue SUV, and as she leaves
LIZ can't help feeling a little for the girl who's become an
outcast even among the only other people on the entire world
who are her own kind.
LIZ
As... as much fun as that
admittedly was Max... we can't keep
alienating her. For one thing... I
can't shake the notion that you'll
need Tess' help the next time some
alien danger looms.
MAX
(brushing a bit of Liz's
hair back from her face
and speaking close to her
ear)
Tess makes it easy for us to need
her. She's great with her alien
powers... creating diversions,
fooling people into seeing what she
wants, messing with their heads.
(He sighs)
It's not the kind of help that I
WANT to need.
LIZ
That doesn't change the fact that
we should both be reaching out an
olive branch. I mean, look... it
can't have been easy for her,
growing up with a hard-assed alien
like Nasedo posing as her father.
Maybe all she needs is a little
friendliness to... well, for things
to start getting better.
MAX
I've TRIED a little friendliness -
more than a little, actually! Tess
is just impossible - if she's not
trying to tear her clothes or mine
off, then it's all about the
'aliens are so superior, humans
suck' trip.
MAX looks at LIZ. She gives him the serious, no-kidding
around puppy dog eyes.
12.
MAX (CONT'D)
Maybe it should be YOU reaching out
the olive branch. A female bonding
kind of thing. That may be hard, as
long as she sees you as the hussy
who's keeping me away from her,
but...
LIZ
Well, the bigger problem is that
she'd probably just laugh in my
face if I tried. On the other hand,
if we can get someone who she
wouldn't look down on to set things
up as an intermediary...
LIZ looks over at ISABEL, who is flirting with ALEX and
generally seems to have her usually icy guard let down. MAX
turns to look at her too, and tentatively smiles.
5 EXT - ROSWELL PARK - EVENING 5
The 'abduct me please' party is in full swing. There are
maybe forty or fifty celebrants about - some drawing weird
symbols on the grass with glow-in-the-dark paint, cooking
food on campfires or barbecues, playing music, drinking soda
or beer out of cans, singing, arguing, or playing weird games
involving running around.
MICHAEL and MARIA can be seen in the background, talking in a
circle made up of UFO nuts and young townies. MICHAEL seems a
bit upset about whatever a few of the enthusiasts are saying,
while MARIA is laughing and clearly enjoying the discussion.
ISABEL is sitting on a lawn chair by herself, staring up into
nowhere. ALEX walks by, notices her, and pulls up a sturdy
cooler box to sit on.
ALEX
Something on your mind about those
stars??
ISABEL
(startled at first)
Huh? Oh, no, not really Alex. It's
things down here that I was mulling
over... Tess, and Liz, and my
brother.
ALEX
Max?? What about him?
13.
ISABEL
Oh, umm... they want me to set up
an ambush for Tess... or at least,
maybe an ambush. Arrange some sort
of sleep-over or a girl's night
out, so that Liz and Tess can
settle things and bury the hatchet.
ALEX
Hmm... not sure if Tess is going to
WANT to bury the hatchet if she
figures out that Max and Liz are
hatching plots together. I mean...
well, if I were in her position, if
I were upset because you were - if
you wanted to be with somebody
else...
ISABEL
Yeah, well... I can understand
about Tess holding out on her hopes
for Max I guess... and I've had a
bit of experience on the upsides of
stubbornness when it comes to
matters of the heart--
(She reaches out to hold
Alex's hand in hers, and
they both smile.)
I mean, if you hadn't pursued me so
hard, then I'd never have even
dreamed that I could feel so mu...
Well, erm. But - but the thing is,
that Tess can be stubborn about Max
as much as she wants, just so long
as it doesn't affect our teamwork
stuff. Because working together is
all that really keeps us safe, when
it comes down to that.
ALEX
A very good point. So you're going
to set up the meeting then?
ISABEL shakes her head at ALEX, realizing that maybe he
managed to talk her into this thing without her suspecting.
ISABEL
Yeah, yeah, I'll do it.
(She stands up)
Want to figure out what's going on
with those people chasing each
other?
14.
I think it may be some sort of
Martian tag or a thing like that.
ALEX
Yeah, race you over there.
He rushes away, and ISABEL takes a moment to clue in before
running after him.
6 EXT - CITY STREETS - NIGHT 6
MAX and LIZ are doing the walk and talk thing.
LIZ
I... I admit that I'm not sure what
to think about things yet, Max.
That... that alien lady whose image
we saw... she said that you and
Tess were MARRIED. And that she was
your mother.
MAX
Liz, I think that I only have one
mother... and she's fed you very
bad tacos that came from a box.
(Liz smiles at this.)
All of that stuff that we learned
about, way up in the desert rocks
that day... it happened long before
I was born, so how can it really be
about me? I... I don't know what
this 'essence' was that they put
into my body after it was created
in a test tube... but at the very
most, that's part of my heritage,
not my identity. I'm not some alien
king, a ruler who lost a war. I'm
Max Evans, a confused kid growing
up in New Mexico... and I'm
definitely not married.
(He turns Liz's face
towards his, so that they
can look into each
other's eyes.)
I would DEFINITELY have remembered
that.
LIZ
Oh- okay, I... I think that I can
accept that, at least for the
moment.
15.
All of those people that the old
Queen talked about, they're not
really you guys, they're just your
alien parents, in a weird way.
(She thinks about that a
bit longer.)
I guess maybe, because of the way
you're not one species or another,
the way you were genetically
created or whatever, that you might
all have two parents of the same
gender. No genetic mom for you, I
mean, just an alien father and a
human father, some guy that they
kidnapped to get some human DNA
from.
MAX
(A little disturbed by
thinking about this too
much.)
Yeah, I guess.
(He sighs)
Anyway, I've talked a bit with
Michael and Isabel, and they
definitely agree with me. The
message we got said that in their
past life, they were a couple too -
Isabel was still my sister and
Michael was betrothed to be married
to her. But they're not going to
date or anything. They've been
friends, nearly siblings for too
long. Neither of them are quite
sure if they can pick up where they
left off with Maria and Alex, but I
hope that they do.
LIZ
Yeah, I guess I do too.
(Short silence)
Well, this is me coming up, and I
should probably go and reassure my
Dad that I won't be out all night.
MAX
Yeah, okay.
They head through the Crashdown Parking lot and climb up a
ladder to Liz's BALCONY, the one outside her window.
16.
MAX (CONT'D)
I... I think I'm bold enough to ask
you for a kiss.
LIZ
(flirty)
Maybe you don't even need to ask.
MAX
Then you asked for this.
(Mortified expression)
I can't believe I just said that.
While MAX is still feeling foolish, LIZ takes the initiative
and kisses him on the lips. It isn't a perfect fireworks kiss
- neither of these kids are completely comfortable with each
other again, after being through stuff that most teenage
sweethearts never have to deal with. But both of them are
grinning a bit foolishly when they break, and LIZ climbs
through her window into her bedroom.
MAX is silent as he heads back down the ladder, gets into his
car, a black JEEP that had been parked next to the cafe, and
drives off for home himself. As he pulls into the driveway,
his headlights briefly shine on a familiar figure with curly
blonde hair.
7 EXT. IN FRONT OF EVANS HOUSE - NIGHT 7
Max turns off the ignition and gets out of the Jeep.
MAX
What are you doing here, Tess?
TESS
I... I just wanted to talk, Max.
MAX
Okay, I guess. Lemme, umm, let me
poke my head inside, and then I'll
figure out where the best place to
do this thing is.
TESS
Don't want your parents thinking
that you have a new squeeze, Max?
(Max shoots her a dirty
look.)
Your father knows that I was
waiting out here to see you.
17.
MAX
Just a minute, Tess.
8 EXT. EVANS BACKYARD - NIGHT 8
A minute later. Max and Tess are sitting on wooden patio
furniture and they each have a glass of water on the patio
table. It looks a bit more like a political negotiation
session than two friends sitting down for a casual chat.
TESS
Okay, I guess I'll start. Why don't
you want to do anything to help
your people, Max?
MAX
That's what you wanted to talk to
me about?
TESS
Yeah, what - you thought it would
be about the personal destiny thing
again? I... I can read the signals,
Max, even if it takes me a while to
get the hint. You don't want to
think about the two of us as a
couple, and you get upset every
time I even bring the subject up.
I... I haven't given up on you yet,
but I'll give the whole deal a rest
for a little while. Maybe figuring
out how the two of us can be
friends will get me further than
always getting into your face as a
sex object, or whatever.
MAX
Well, umm... I have to say that I
didn't expect you to say that, but
the sentiment is appreciated. Um,
in the spirit of full disclosure,
tonight Liz and I...
TESS
I don't need 'full disclosure'
Max... I don't really want to hear
about what went on.
MAX
Oh, right. I... I guess I should
have thought of that. Sorry
18.
TESS
(Takes a sip of her
water.)
It's okay. Now, can we get back to
the question that I *did* ask?
MAX
Yeah, yeah sure, um... okay, first
off... though I don't doubt that
message from the old queen on any
point specifically, some of the
things she told us about - about
her alien people...
TESS
Is there a reason that you don't
want to admit that they're OUR
people too, Max? Maybe only on one
side - we're half human too. But
humanity hasn't asked for our help -
in fact, they've tried pretty hard
to... umm, sorry.
She looks embarassed at what she almost said.
MAX
That... that's okay I guess. Umm...
I guess the only big issue that I
have is the one I was getting at -
that we can't be sure who to trust
when it comes to aliens. That lady
said that we... that we were born
to replace her children and her
children-in-law. That there was
some kind of war, and a tyrant took
over, and our people are enslaved.
But... but how can we be sure that
she isn't really one of the people
that took over, or that the
revolution wasn't actually a good
thing in the society of that
planet?
TESS
Okay, I'll grant that. We don't
have too much information on
specifics. But... but don't we have
enough cues that there's trouble,
and trouble that we should be
involved in, that we have a DUTY to
figure out where the truth lies and
make our stand? If...
19.
if that ship is working, shouldn't
we head off to that alien planet,
assuming we can find it, and start
asking some tough questions??
MAX takes a long look at Tess, in the spotlight from near the
back door, and sips at his own water before answering.
MAX
That... that's too risky, I think.
If we go to some other planet - how
do we know that we can get back?
Where's the assurance that we won't
get captured by people who think
that we are their enemies right
away? And... and if we find the
people who think that they're our
friends... they might still ask
things of us that we're not ready
for.
TESS
That the THREE of you aren't ready
to follow through on, you mean.
(She stares challengingly
at Max, who can't reply)
You're just afraid that they'll
want us to take on the roles of our
past life selves... for you to be
the King, and me the Royal Bride.
Isabel as the Princess, and Michael
as her Betrothed Consort.
MAX
I... I'm worried about that, yeah.
A King doesn't usually have much
choice about who he marries or what
his own life is like, and I... I
don't want to be a king. There,
I've said it.
TESS
Sometimes there are bigger things
than what YOU want, Max!!
(She gets up and
accidentally spills her
water; it starts dripping
through the wooden slats
of the table and away.)
Agent Pierce just WANTED to keep
his country and his planet safe -
and right now I think that you're
being as BLIND as he was!!
20.
TESS storms away through the gate at the side of the house,
and a few moments later we hear a car engine roaring to life.
Max just sits there, stunned at what she said to him.
9 INT. MICHAEL'S APARTMENT - NIGHT 9
There is the sound of a key on the other side of the door,
and then it opens. MICHAEL charges unsteadily in, bumping
into a telephone table (or something like that) just slightly
and STUMBLING. MARIA follows him in and does a take as she
sees MICHAEL flip backwards over the side of the couch and
flop onto it. She rushes over to assist him.
MARIA
Did you drink from somebody's beer
back at the park?
MICHAEL
No... I'd probably be really in a
bad way if I had any alcohol. You
remember how Max got when he drank
on Valentine's day.
MARIA
Max had nearly a mouthful of Kyle
Valenti's best whiskey. If you had
about the same amount of beer, then
probably you wouldn't have been
quite as uninhibited as him. Seems
to fit.
MICHAEL
Ohh. Well, maybe. I can't remember
having any beer. But... but a cute
redhead offered me this Mexican
fruit drink thing - while you were
off talking with Alex.
MARIA
Oh, boy. Maybe there's something in
that which alien hybrids are
susceptible to.
(Suddenly realizes
something from what
Michael said.)
Just HOW cute a readhead??
21.
MICHAEL
Oh...
(He pulls her down to the
sofa next to him and
bends her head close to
his.)
Not NEARLY as cute as my ex
girlfriend.
MARIA
Oh-ho, so we're still ex?
MICHAEL
I... I think that we were 'ex'
earlier today.
(He kisses her cheek.)
As far as whether we're ex right
now...
MARIA suddenly moves to get up - MICHAEL tries to stop her
for a moment, but allows her to reach her feet. Maria paces
away from the couch and turns back to stare at Michael as he
struggles to sit up.
MARIA
Michael, you... you just can't do
this to me! I... I want to be back
with you, yeah, but you're not
really yourself at the moment. If
you're not actually drunk, then you
really might just as well be. How -
how can I know that things aren't
going to be worse in the morning if
I... if we...
MICHAEL
Hmm... I guess you have a point.
There's only one way to be sure I
suppose.
MARIA
And what's that?
MICHAEL
Go home now, come back in the
morning, and kiss me then.
