Lost and Delirious (UC,MATURE/ADULT) Pt 8 - 06/25/04 [WIP]

Post by JBehrsGurl »

Title: Lost and Delirious

Rating: MATURE/ADULT (some mild slash)

Pairing: Varies… Can’t just name one.

Disclaimer: I own nothing but my imagination and my twisted little fantasies of Brendan Fehr. :)

Summary: Liz POV. Okay it’s completely AU, no aliens. Liz was a popular rich snobby bad girl back in Roswell New Mexico. So bad that after one horrendous night Liz snaps and gets worse than ever, so to tame their daughter The Parker’s send Liz to Winnaman Academy in Vermont. In this school Liz will learn a great amount of secrets and hold fast to the ones she owns herself.

Warning: If you desperately love Maria than I don’t know if you will like this because she’s not in it. When I actually do put her in here and there she’s not very smart. I use a lot of coupling in this fic and there will be slash scenes. Nothing hard core but its just a small warning.

Note: This story will have similarities to some things because I got the inspiration for this from an indie film called “Lost and Delirious” and also from Christopher Pike’s “Execution of Innocence.”

Dedications: To my sis Jessica! Because she’s the one on my ass to finish this and because I write it specifically for her when she’s in need of a release from the cold hard reality that is life. So pull up chair, maybe grab some goobers and read what my mind willed me to write…

Part 1

The Winnaman Academy, Vermont

We have very strict rules here at Winnaman Miss Parker…

They say sometimes when a door is shut, a window is opened. And all you have to do is jump. Break free; just be who you really are. However, there are other options, you can start over. Be a whole new person, maybe even change who you are into someone you’re not. She pondered these ideas inside her head as she strolled on down the Academy hall lost in her own delirious thoughts.

Probably a much more disciplined atmosphere then you are used to...

The walls were white, the curtains down the hall a light blue. The sun shined through the windows as a gust of wind blew the curtains open and sent her hair flying into her face. In just a few minutes she would meet the one person who would most likely become her new best friend. Someone who she’d share her secrets with, someone who she could confide in when things got rough. Someone to knock her back down when she needed to be reminded of rules and right from wrong.

Curfew is at 9. No boys allowed on campus…

No boys… Ha, she had to stifle a laugh and continue her walk down that long gusty hallway. Each step crunching down on the thick beige plush carpet. Memories flashing through her mind by the busload, killing her once humorous mood. Another chilling blast of air tossing her hair all around, and in that moment she remembered the last time she had happily tossed her hair back, causing it to breeze across her rosy cheeks.

There will be no smoking, no drinking, and drugs will not be tolerated...

No more late night parties, no more coming in and out, no more never remembering what she had done the day before. No more lying to mom and pop about where she was going, who she was with. Her hand trailed up and down along the walls, it’s smooth surface sliding by like her life had.

Welcome to Winnaman Academy Liz Parker…

Smile nicely Liz, yes, just like that. Just the way mother taught you, don’t forget to be charming when you actually feel like screaming. Never show emotion unless you’re in the privacy of yourself. She wiped the back of her hand across her wet nose and trucked on down the hall to her room.

“So you’re Liz Parker huh?” The snap of bubble gum broke the silence of the quiet room.

Her head flew up and out of the thick dark clouds of reminisce, “I’m sorry?” She managed to choke out.

“My new roommate.” Her deep blue eyes bored into Liz’s own sensual brown ones. “You know the replacement for the one who offed herself on that very mattress.” She pointed across the room to a bed.

Liz’s bags fell to the floor as she took it all in, “S-she-“

“Relax, I’m totally fucking with you Parker.” The girl tossed her blonde curls over her shoulder, “So what do we have here? More bags huh? You a prissy girl aren’t cha?” She winked and came over to plop Liz’s suitcases up on the bed.

“I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name.” Liz asked politely, in about two point five seconds she was ready to adjust into bitch mode. This girl beside her has breath taking features, a figure to die for and still managed to have silky curls with lush pouty pink lips, glossed to shine.

She glanced up at Liz from behind her thick long lashes and snapped on her gum loud, “Tess. Tess Harding, yes I’m Ava Harding’s daughter, yes I know all the famous celebrities you’re about to ask me.” She rolled her eyes, “Yes I can get you an autograph, so now that that’s all over.” She walked over and flopped down on her side of the room.

Confused Liz sat down on her side, “You obviously don’t know who my parents are otherwise you wouldn’t have wasted your breath, Tess.” She snapped.

“OoOoh, new girl’s got spunk. C’mon Liz gimme your best shot, who is your parents?” She sarcastically spat out her words.

“I don’t have time for this.” She mumbled and started to pull her belongings from their cases. To think she thought they were going to bond, to become close friends. She hadn’t even known this girl 10 minutes and already she was a heartbeat away from slamming her facedown on hardwood floor of their room.

She snapped her gum again, “Broke you faster than the last one.” She chuckled.

Liz spun around angry as ever, “Listen Tess, I’m not someone you want to fuck with. I’m here for my reasons and you’re obviously here for yours, kick ass we don’t like each other. Just stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of yours.”

Tess blinked several times, “Geez is your thong stuck way up your ass.” She tusked, “Chill out Parker, learn to loosen up.” She squiggled around her pockets and brought out a pack of cigarettes, “Want one?” She murmured as she lit hers over by the window.

Liz shook her head and stood next to her at the window, lighting up her own thin white stick, “Start over?” She said blowing smoke past her lips.

“Already done, so why you here?” Tess puffed lightly on her butt.

It was such a long story, too long of a story actually. Longer than she had time to tell before orientation. “Parents are assholes, why are you here?”

“Cuz my mom doesn’t want me getting mixed up in her life.” She shrugged, “Because I’m a problem child, cuz I talk back. Cuz I grew into a more attractive person than she is, pick one. I’ve been here for going on three years now. And I hate it.”

Liz sucked the smoke deep into her lungs and blew it out slow, “Is that why you got the best room?”

She laughed, “You know why we got the best room Parker. Cuz we’re rich and we’re beautiful.” She shook her curls, “Lost and Delirious.” She chuckled, gazing out at the evening sky, “Trust me when I say you better stick with me. Cuz the minute you walk into orientation you’re going to be seen as one of two things to these girls.” She paused to inhale her nicotine, “A rich bitch threat to their social status or… A nobody.”

“You guys have issues than, I don’t fit into one category.” Liz smashed her cigarette into the sill and threw her cases down from the bed to lie down. “Damn. It’s going to suck here so much.” She stared up at the ceiling, feeling the high from her laced smoke start to take effect.

“Oh miss Parker,” Tess flopped back down on her own bed, “I didn’t take you for a stoner.” She picked at her nails.

Liz giggled, “Like I’d go to that thing fully temperate.” She snorted.

“You got a boyfriend?” Tess asked, as she propped herself up on an elbow towards Liz.

Liz closed her heavy lids and shrugged, “I had lots of them, couldn’t quite be tied down to just one.” She grinned.

“Hmmm… Good to know.” Tess shrugged and started to flip through a magazine. Liz lay in her bed with her eyes shut, breathing in patterns as her body floated up to the ceiling. There were lots of boys back home, and there would be lots more here. She snuggled into her blankets and dozed off.

“Just shut up will you!” She slapped at her friends shoulder, “Go and keep a look out. Holler if you see anyone coming. You got that Maria?”

“Liz… I don’t know about this. I mean so what if Pam wins homecoming? I mean we already know everyone’s going to pick you!” She pleaded.

“Maria what’s your malfunction? We’re not going to cheat, we just want to know.” The male of the trio snapped at Maria, “Now shut your trap and stay here.” He shoved a flashlight into her hands and pulled Liz into the school.

She laughed carelessly as he pulled her further and further into the school until they were at the office door. “Kyle, we’re just going to look right?” Liz had second thoughts.

He grabbed her face in his hands lightly, “Hey, you’re gonna win. No matter what okay?” He kissed her lips, “Now shut up and just do what I tell you to do.”

“Kyle… I love you.” She smiled and pulled his face to hers, savoring his scent and running desperate fingers through his soft hair; “I’m perfectly fine if I don’t win, okay?” She breathed on his lips, before kissing him again.

His hands felt up her sides and back down to her waist, resting them on the small of her back, “I know you’re fine with it.” He smiled, “I just want you to be happy is all.”

“I am happy silly.” She went to kiss him again except was rejected after he turned to pick the lock of the office door. He drawled her inside the office and seductively over to the voting ballot box.

“Start the counting babe.” He said lifting the lid off the top of the box and handing her a hand full of ballots.

She counted, squealing each time she saw a checked box next to her name. A light blinked across the windows causing her and Kyle to drop to the floor laughing.

“You think Maria left?” Liz whispered.

Kyle glanced at her funny, “Are you kidding? She left the second we entered past the school gates.

“So much for a look out.” Liz rolled her eyes annoyed.

“She’s your friend.” He shrugged.

“She’s your sister!” She smacked him.

“I didn’t choose her.”

They counted for 10 more minutes and realized that indeed she had won fair and square. Happy that she won she threw handfuls of ballots into the air and pulled Kyle down to the floor to her. Their lips connecting and his shirt flying off and up into the air.

“Make love to me Kyle, right here on these ballots.” She bit his lower lip, “Right now.” She rubbed her self up against him.

Kyle immediately discarded her small shirt, not bothering to remove her bra as he worked on the button of her pants. She giggled as he trailed small kisses up her abdomen to her chest and licked up to her neck. The fire between her thighs was burning with lust, her head fell back and a moan escaped her lips. His fingers playing with the clasp of her bra until it fell own her shoulders, her hands tugged at the zipper of his pants, then helped him pull off his boxers until they both were worked up hot and ready. Her thing cloth covering her bottom slid off and into his hands as his lips attacked hers passionately.

“Oh god Kyle…” She whimpered ready.

His mouth continued to suck the skin of her neck and he pushed her back to the floor, positioning his self up over her small body. Her breath coming out in quick gasps as she waited for his entrance. She pressed her chest tight against his own; her arms folded around him as she pulled her legs apart and wrapped them against his thighs.

“Liz…” He whispered into her ear before he plunged deep into her core. Causing her to yelp out in surprise, her thighs tightened in anticipation as he began to slowly drive into her. Softly, he brushed her hair from her face and glanced into her eyes. A small connection forming between the two. His pace quickened a bit faster and Liz buckled up into him farther. Her whole body tingling with desire and burning with sexual heat.

“Uh –OH!” She shouted out, his rhythm speeding up a notch. Her hands pressed him tighter; she sucked on his shoulder, tasting the salt of his skin. Her hands feeling his back muscles tighten up as he began to come closer to reaching oblivion. His breath blew across her chest, his mouth moving from her neck to her mouth. She tugged him to the side and rolled over on top of him. Her hands pressing his chest down and her eyes watching his every reaction, “Do you love me Kyle?” She panted, her pelvis ramming into his.

He cursed out in excitement, “Yes, Yes I love you.” He struggled not to lose control.

She felt it coming closer; the one moment went her body would explode all at once into fireworks. That growing tingle within her belly working down into her center. Her hands went up and into her hair, her chin lifting up to the ceiling as she moaned into the air. Her thrusts becoming more effective to achieving that moment they both were waiting for. Then Kyle’s hands slid across her smooth bottom skin and up her sides to cup her breasts. She pressed his hands firmer against her chest, whimpering like a puppy. His hands grabbing tighter and his jaws crushing down on one another as a hiss of air seethed through his mouth.

She licked her lips as she watch his eyes roll to back of his head. Her body pushing harder by the second until he suddenly took over and slammed her down underneath him once again to take control.

“Oh! Oh yes Kyle!” She cried out, his hard erection forcing down deeper into her middle. Her whole body tensed up at once as they came together, his body shoving harder and harder into hers. Their breathing ragged and their skin perspirating, her chest sliding against his from the dampness. Then every cell in her body screamed, her heart stopped her breath caught; her legs buckled up and felt her insides cave.

“Oh my! Oh my g- Oh my gawd!” She cried out, “Oh my gawd Kyle…” She pulled his face to hers, “I love you Kyle… I do…” She breathed, “You’re the best fuck I’ve ever had.” She caressed her tongue against his. A rustling was heard outside the office door, “Kyle, what was that?” Liz panicked.

“Wake up Parker…” He smiled, rubbing his thumb on her cheek, “Wake up…”

>*<

“Parker! Helllloooo? Wake up Parker!” Tess readied to slap Liz across the face.

Liz flew up right in bed, her lungs screaming for air, her hands shaking in horror. Her body shivered in a rapid cold sweat.

“Whoa, you okay?” Tess asked worried.

“Fine. I’m fine.” Liz lied, “What time is it?” She searched the room for a clock.

“You already missed orientation, you missed dinner too.” Tess dropped a paper bag into Liz’s lap, “I brought you something from the kitchen.”

“Wow. Thanks.” Liz pulled her damp hair back into a bun, “What is it?”

Tess shrugged, “I dunno. Something Andrew made.”

“Andrew?” Liz looked at Tess skeptical.

Tess licked her lips and lit up a cigarette, “He’s the school’s cook on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s.” She giggled, “He’s Italian.” She winked.

“Naughty girl.” Liz laughed tearing into the homemade sandwich, “My god this is gooood!” She yelped astonished.

“Yep. Sex isn’t the only thing that boy’s good at.” Tess nodded her head.

Liz gulped the soda Tess handed her and took another bite, “How old is he?”

“Twenty three, he’s been the cook for almost half a year now.” She shrugged, “He started in the summer, and now he’s here for the new school year. Gee, I wonder why.” She played dumb.

“Got any cute friends?” Liz joked.

“You won’t have to worry about that, I’ve got plans for you Miss Parker.” Tess winked and blew out her smoke, “There’s going to be a party this weekend with the boys of West Ridge, fine ass guys there.” She clenched her eyes closed, “Oh yes. Very nice.”

“Very nice Parker.” He gave her the once over, “You clean up nice…”

She sneered at him revolted, “You disgust me Guerin.”

He grinned wickedly, “You see Parker, you see this is why we should be together… We refer to one another by last names only.” He slid a finger down her cheek to her cup her chin, “Liz…”

Her heart thumped against her chest intensely, “Michael… We can’t okay? We just… We just can’t do this.” She pushed him away gently, “Please?”

“Dammit Parker!” He slammed his fist into a wall.

“Freaking spacer man! Parker! Par-ker!” Tess shook Liz by the shoulders. “You’re not gonna be like this all the time are you? Damn I should have known you were a druggie.” Tess cursed.

Liz struggled to catch her breath and explain her situation, “Tess… No I’m not… Not really…” She gasped, “I just keep… I keep remembering things and…”

Tess crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes, “The last girl was kicked out of here for drugs Liz. I mean its one thing to get hammered at a party but it is quite another to be fried all day.”

Liz glared at Tess oddly, “Isn’t that from Clueless?”

Tess grinned, “Yep. Best damn movie ever if I may say so myself. C’mon lets go chill for a while. We deserve it, at least I know I do.” Tess shrugged out of her dark blue blazer.

Liz rubbed lazily at her tired eyes and lifted her arms above her head to stretch, “You’re the boss teach. Show me the way.”

Tess linked her fingers through Liz’s and pulled her out the door quickly, “You gotta be really sneaky though cuz none of the elders know about this jig.” She glanced down the main hall and inched towards the stairs cautiously.

“Where are we going?” Liz asked giggling, her fingers squeezing Tess’ tighter.

Tess stopped suddenly to press them both up against the wall, “Oh my god did she see us?” Tess asked, “Whew! That was close as hell! C’mon.” Tess lugged her further. “We gotta go up stairs to the top. Then we’re home free baby!” Tess momentarily released Liz’s hand to button up her blazer.

“So how much further, and you never answered my question.” Liz held her hand out for Tess to grasp.

“A place where you can be you without having to worry about restrictions.” Tess pressed her forehead against Liz’s, “Now shut up and just come on!” She laughed and tugged Liz up the stairs as quick as she could.

Liz’s breath caught in her throat when they finally reached the top of the stairs, exhausted Liz struggled to keep up with Tess’ vast steps. She’d walk the rest of the way no matter what Tess said. She wasn’t used to climbing the circling staircase that seemed to last forever. The top of the stairs was dark and gloomy; night had snuck up on them suddenly. Liz watched Tess climb up a steel latter and knock three times in the corner of the ceiling.

“Damn what took you so long?” A small red headed girl opened up a bend in the ceiling and scolded Tess, “Isabel’s in Bitch mode so watch out.”

“Good lookin’ out Jenny.” Tess pinched the girl’s nose before turning to Liz, “You coming?”

Liz took a step forward, hesitating at the latter. She had a feeling that entering that room would be entering a whole other world. She would be part of a clique again, something she never wanted to be after… She shook her head clear and trudged up the bars of the cold steel, its cool to the touch metal tingling up her arm. Setting off every instinctive alarm a female possessed. However, not even her intuition was enough to stop her feet from stumbling forwards towards Tess’ out stretched hand.

“That’s my girl.” Tess grinned.

The red headed girl, Jenny, quickly slid the opening lid closed after Liz had emerged within their lair. It wasn’t too spacious, yet it managed to hold over 16 plus upper class girls who attended Winnaman Academy. And of course, there stood the infamous Isabel Evans.

The girl that Liz knew all about before even stepping foot in Winnaman, even from all the way over in Roswell, New Mexico Liz knew who this girl was. Her face had been plastered all over the Winnaman Academy brochure. With perfect posture as she had sat at one of the mess hall tables, hand slightly bent over her plate as her fingers had delicately grasped her dinner fork. Liz could remember the snapshot on page 3; she could see Isabel leaning against a maroon locker with her books pressed firmly against her busty chest. Liz’s eyes searched over the life size model as she stood over by the entrance of the hideout.

Across the room Isabel was engaging herself in a humorous conversation, her dark hazel eyes turning to Liz before her amused face. Isabel had glanced at Liz and back to the laughing girls beside her. Liz was never one to be shy, however, this was a whole new atmosphere. This was not Roswell High; this was not her regular crowd of laughing individuals. These were the superior girls of Winnaman; they could make or break your social status. Liz had no male to waltz over to and flirt with in order to get to know the rest of the crew.

“Liz.” Tess called out to her, a cigarette at the end of her lips, “Get over here, I wanna commence you.” She nodded her head, intending for Liz to walk over.

Liz stole one last look at Isabel; they observed each other as Liz strolled over to Tess’ perch a top a stool by the only large open window. She sat down on the windowsill closest to Tess, her eyes drifting over to Isabel. The sultry blonde covertly went back to her small cluster of admirers and pretended to acknowledge their comments. All the while her full attention was on the new girl, the potential threat to her entire position as head girl.

“This is Corena, Lilah, Katelyn and Nadine. The one at the entrance is Jenny; we don’t pay much attention to her really. She’s just there to serve us drinks and be the lookout.” Tess waved her hand and winked at the mousy girl, who vigorously waved back smiling like a child who had just seen the president. “If she’s not doing something for you than you don’t need to be seen with her. Got it?” Tess’ icy blue eyes bore down on Liz in a warning tone.

Liz snorted, “What’s in it for her?”

“She gets to pretend to be one of us.” Corena laughed and sipped her glass.

“What’s in that?” Liz nodded to the glass, “Care to share?”

“Mmm!” Tess’ muffled words spoke out from her full mouth, “Here. Take mine.” She said finally swallowing her drink. “I’ll go get another one, its just Malibu and orange juice.” She skipped off her stool and over to the bar.

Liz was shocked to see the whole layout from her perch at the window. Dark purple drapes hung low against the wooden walls, creating a cultural effect. In another corner lay a pile of fluffy pillows and blankets for them to sit on, some girls lounged all stretched out in that corner. And in the center of the room was one simple sofa, yet elegant and seemed to be the most pertinent spot in the room. Of course that was where Isabel sat comfortably, as if she were parked at her throne. In the far right corner was a nice set up of bottles and glasses, lined up by size. Velvet covered the surface of the rounded table, followed by small decorative placemats and cup holders. It resembled a small mini bar; just like the one her mother had caught her passed out next to one night. Mini bottles of vodka and brandy lay in a bucket of ice; brightly colored napkins lay unstirred beside it.

“Vickie’s mom is a flight attendant, she’s always bringing Vickie small gifts.” Katelyn giggled and started a small uproar between the three other girls.

“Thank god for small favors.” Nadine piped up and sent everyone into hysterics.

Liz gulped the rest of her drink and threw the cup out the window carelessly. She’d kill for a thick tightly rolled up blunt. It’s herbal remedy that would send Liz’s head spinning and her skin to ripple. Someone turned the volume up on the small radio near the bar and squealed. Apparently she just loved that song, Mariah Carey’s soulful voice along with other’s belted out “Honey.”

And it’s just like honey,
When your love comes over me…

Outside the moon shined down on the street, Liz closed her eyes and tried her hardest to will her memories away. It was quite a struggle when the same song playing was the song that was playing the night –NO. She shook her head; she wouldn’t do this, not now, not ever. Where the hell was Tess with that drink? Liz spun around to see where her peppy friend was.

Nadine was asking her something that she hadn’t heard, and even if she had she wouldn’t have answered. Yet to humor the lady she tilted her head to the side and as her hair fell delicately across her face she swiped it back and grinned. Whatever Nadine has said, Liz’s smile seemed to have been the perfect answer.

“Oh Liz, you’re so coy.” She giggled and sipped her drink.

Something was pulling at Liz to spin around and so she had, and there it was, Isabel’s cold stare at her back. Liz was tempted to slap the bitch across her Clinique covered face. No one stared Liz Parker down and lived to tell the story. As Tess’ heels were heard clamping back over towards Liz she decided to end Isabel’s childish game once and for all.

“Take a fucking picture.” She sneered.

The entire room gasped, and now everyone’s eyes were on Liz. Apparently no one had ever talked back to Isabel Evans. Well, there was a first for everything now wasn’t there? Liz flipped her hair over her shoulder and took the drink from Tess’ hand. She guzzled down her cup and was ready to go, she didn’t want to be in a room where everyone’s attention wasn’t on her. A sultry smile crossed Isabel’s features as she eyed Liz and called for Nadine.

The brunette at Liz’s side took a step forward, ready to obey when Liz cleared her throat, “Oh Nadine, sweetie. Could you get me another drink please?” She slid a hand down the girls shoulder, “Thanks.” She smirked as she watched Isabel’s posture stiffen. “Cheers.” Liz held her cup out towards Isabel and winked when Nadine had obliged to her request.

Tess sighed and shook her curls, “Liz, Liz, Liz… First day and look what you’ve done. Made enemies with the worst person to be enemies with.” She tisked.

Liz sipped lightly on her third glass and shrugged, she had better things on her mind. Like how the hell she was going to get out of bed the next morning. Already her stomach rumbled in discomfort from the alcohol and smoke she had earlier. She glanced down at her watch and blinked waiting for her sight to focus. She couldn’t see for shit, she was ready to leave.

“I’m done, my pillow’s calling my name.” She said casually stepping to the exit. “You coming?” Her eyes grazed across the crowd and landed on Tess.

Tess swallowed what was left of her cup and trotted over, “Yep!”

And as Liz slid down the latter, she heard the muffled words of other girls suddenly ready to call it a night. She smiled to herself and walked arm and arm with Tess back to bed.

Continued... Part 2

>*<

She couldn’t feel. She wanted to feel.

“Michael no… Michael we can’t do this.” Liz panted, her hands grazing his smooth bare back as his lips sucked the skin of her throat.

It wasn’t right. It wasn’t right…

“Parker, you can do this…” He pressed his mouth against hers.

She shoved him off, “Get off me.” She scowled and grabbed for her clothes, “I can’t believe I’m doing this. I can’t believe-“

“Well believe it Liz! Dammit! Why do you do this to me?!” He slammed a fist down on the bed.

She flinched; afraid of what he would do next, “Michael I-“

“Just shut up!” He roared, “You always do this, you strut around in your little skirts and revealing tops and when push comes to shove you punk out.” He snapped, “I’m sick of it!” He pulled her back under him, “You can’t back out of something that already is.” He growled.

Her heart pounded so hard against her chest she felt it would pop; her head was clouded with doubt. She wanted him more than anything, more than she knew she should. He wanted her; he wanted her just as much as she wanted him. Something like this couldn’t be wrong, it couldn’t.

But it was…

“Am I yours then Guerin?” She muttered, “If I can’t back out than that means we’ve started something.” She licked behind his ear and pushed herself up against him.

His grunted in satisfaction yet hesitated to go through with what he wanted so badly he could scream, “Why does it have to be so difficult?” He whispered over her face, his hand running down her cheek, “I love-“

“No. No don’t say it.” Liz pulled away, “Don’t say that you love me…” She sat at the end of the bed hugging her legs. “Don’t ever say it.” She whimpered.

“Why won’t you let me love you?” He scooted up behind her, his legs on either side of her bare figure. His arms wrapped her close to his chest; he had to tell her, to make her understand. “You never… You always back out right before we…”

“I can’t do this Michael. Don’t you understand?” She cried, “If we do this… I have nothing to give you Michael.”

“I just want you to know, I want YOU Liz. I want you so bad.” He spoke in her ear, his hands pressing her against him, “Liz I love you.”

She turned her head, her eyes connecting with his, “Don’t.” She cried, her lip’s pursuing his. Their mouths opened wide, their kiss growing more and more intense. He didn’t understand, he didn’t want to understand. They couldn’t make love because it wouldn’t be love, it would be nothing. Liz had no love to give in return for his, and it was why she had tried to hold back.

“Liz.” Michael stopped, ready to continue but hesitant.

She nodded, a single tear descending down her cheek. Shivering with lust as Michael’s tongue lapped it up, his lips pressing her eyelids closed. He moved to hover over her, his breath ragged as he leaned in. Her head flew back against the bed violent, her chest arching forward. A loud gasp escaping her lips, while Michael steadied a slow pace.

What was it? What was love? It wasn’t love, or sex, or anything. It felt good; it was intimate it made her feel. She liked to feel, she liked to feel Michael’s hands on her, and she liked to feel him inside her. Liz wanted to feel more, to feel something, anything, she wanted more. She pleaded with him to press harder, to move faster, to dig deeper. His powerful hard thrusts shoving her further into the mattress, his chest squashing her underneath him.

She liked to feel. She could feel this, she could feel the fire between her legs, she could feel him inside her, she could feel her orgasm moving closer, ready to explode. And she kept yelling, and she kept digging her nails deeper and deeper into his back. Her legs held open, her knees bend to squeeze him tighter. He liked it; he liked to hear her moan, to hear her cry for more. This was what he wanted, to make Liz Parker feel, to make Liz Parker scream his name, for her to call out for more. He wanted to make Liz Parker feel, he shoved harder, his skin burning in anticipation. He made her feel, he made her moan, he made her cum…

But he couldn’t make her love.

>*<

“Wake up Mary sunshine!” Tess jumped on Liz’s bed in her PJ’s, “Gooooooooood morning!” She chirped, “Have a nice sleep?” She cuddled in under the covers with Liz, “So this is what it’s like on this side.” She grinned turning her head to face Liz, “Wanna trade?”

Liz peaked open one eye, “What time is it?” She moaned.

Tess shrugged, “I dunno. You’re closer to the clock than I am silly.” She laughed.

Liz rolled her head to glance at the clock, “Awe fuck me.” She cursed, “I’m not ready for today.” She groaned.

Tess shrugged again, “Neither is half the Academy but you gotta do whatcha gotta do.” She turned her whole body over to face Liz, “You talked in your sleep last night.” She whispered.

Liz’s eyes shot open, “I did? What I say?” She asked scared.

Tess moved in closer to whisper in her ear, “You said… Ohhhhhhhhh Michael!” She screamed in Liz’s ear, causing Liz to jump. “Who’s Michael?”

“No one!” Liz yelped, “I did not say that last night.” She shook her head, almost blushing from embarrassment.

“Uh huh.” Tess nodded, “Sure. Whatever. We’ll get into that later, right now… We hit the showers!” She tickled Liz’s sides.

Liz laughed, struggling against Tess’ fingers, “Okay! Geez, I give. Ugh.” She sighed, “Am I the only one who doesn’t want to get out of bed?”

Tess squiggled next to her, “No one does my dear. Now get up, breakfast is at 8 sharp.” She hoped out of the bed taking the covers with her.

“Hey!” Liz shouted, but it was too late. Tess was already down the hall pretending to be superwoman. Whatever that girl was on, Liz thought to herself, she wanted some of that shit.

>*<

“Shakespeare. Can anyone tell me three plays written by our great William?” Liz’s third period English teacher paced back and forth past her black board.

Liz’s attention was out the window behind the board, out where she could be free. Friday. Three more days and she could be free, for one night. She wished Tess were in her class, they could pass notes back and forth making fun of their fellow students. Or how Isabel’s tag was sticking out the back of her freshly pressed blue blazer. She sighed and willed the clock to move forward 36 minutes, so she could leave the hellhole she was stuck in.

“Very good Lilah, I’m impressed.” The teacher smirked, her tight rolled bun never stirring atop her head.

Liz rolled her eyes and yawned.

“Three things you did this summer.” She clapped, “Starting at the front and moving left to right until the back.”

Ms. Summers. That was her name; Liz could all but scream at her situation. Who the hell went to school to learn?

Isabel stood up perfect, “I spent the summer in Tahiti with my parents and my brother, I stood on stage with Dave Navarro and learned to surf with a really cute guy.” She chuckled then sat down neatly.

Liz ignored the rest of the class until it was her turn. However since she was too busy counting the hairs on the back of Nadine’s neck she was unaware that it was already her turn to speak.

“Ms. Parker? Ms. Parker?” Ms. Summers chirped, “Hello dear!” She grinned when Liz’s eyes glanced up from her hands.

“Huh? Oh!” She jumped up and smoothed out her skirt, “Let’s see… Well my mother got married to husband number four and flew everyone out to London where Frank’s originally from and got hitched. I shopped until I dropped in France and managed to visit my cousin Ella in Australia where we surfed the pacific until our skin burned and hung out with Josh Hartnett who apparently is a fan of surfing also and was filming some movie, blah blah blah I got to be an extra. I think my line was, “Austin! I missed you soooo much!” and I had to like, throw myself at him and kiss him.” She laughed remembering her experience and how angry it had made Michael.

“Who were you?” Nadine was curious.

Liz shrugged, “I guess I was supposed to be like an old fling that he would visit from time to time.” Everyone continued to ask questions while Isabel had rolled her eyes and powdered her nose.

Liz had to cover her mouth with her hands to keep herself from laughing at how red Isabel’s face had turned when she realized Liz’s summer had beat out her own. And for the first time at Winnaman Academy, everyone didn’t crowd around Isabel Evans for details on her summer.

After class had ended and Liz had finally rid herself of the groupies who constantly asked about her summer, Liz waited for Tess at her locker. She stood there gazing at her reflection inside when suddenly it was slammed shut.

It was Isabel Evans.

“Look, Liz,” Isabel scowled, “I don’t know how things were at your old school but here at Winnaman I’m top notch. You got that?” She rested perfectly manicured hands on either side of Liz against the lockers, “You can follow or you can rebel. Either way I’ll get what I want, I always do.” She shrugged and stalked off, her golden hair flowing back in her wake.

Liz rolled her eyes gathering her books for next period when Tess slipped up next to her happy as always. Yet Liz wasn’t in the mood for one of Tess’ petty gossip or secret hideouts. She wanted to pass the 11th grade first.

So as they entered their fourth period advanced marine biology class it was no surprise that Liz sat down in the front of the class. She was determined to be the top grade point average in the entire school. She knew she could do it, even back in Roswell she maintained a 3.25 average. And that was with only half her brain switched on, just think of the possibilities of her full attention. This school wasn’t known for its social status, it was for learning. Liz Parker was going to learn.

“Nice to see old and new faces,” Mr. Lacrosse smiled and tapped his clip board, “I’ve arranged a seating chart and whoever you wind up next to is your lab partner until next semester. No complaints, no questions, no exceptions.” He flipped a page over on his clipboard, “Shelly with Nora, Kali with Alison, Britney with Heather…”

His voice droned on and Liz’s thoughts floated else where, her pen scribbling massive amounts of circles and hearts on her open page. If Maria had been there she would have read her palm or had a survey for Liz to fill out. They would have read magazines and sipped on their pre-afternoon lattés.

“Liz… Hmmm… I don’t have a name next to yours…” He looked over the classroom for an empty seat, “I could pair you with another group, and make it three…” He chewed on the end of his pencil.

“Or…” A stylish blonde with sparkling green eyes entered the room; “You could sign your name at the bottom of this slip so I can be scheduled in this course.” She ambled across the room to the front and handed him her paper, “Thanks.” She winked timidly.

“Ahhh yes, Ms. Banks. Nice to have you aboard again.” He chuckled and scribbled his name down on her slip.

She snatched her document back surly and laughed, “Oh Mr. Cross. You make it sound like a bad thing. You know you missed me this past summer, you don’t have to say it… I know.” She glided over towards the back and folded into her stool.

Liz was in complete shock, it looked like there was more than one girl who had a top-notch status. She turned back to the teacher, “Which group you say?” She folded her arms lightly across her chest.

He gazed at her kindly, “In back with Courtney.” He glinted.

Pressing her tongue against the back of her teeth as she smiled back to him then gathered her books and sat down next to Courtney. She brushed her hair up into a sleek ponytail and stole a glance to her right. Courtney rested her chin in her palm with a sigh. Side glancing the new girl, she had heard all about her little squabble with Isabel last night and earlier that day.

As the teacher introduced his students to the new course menu Liz and Courtney continued to test out each other. They checked each other’s choice of shoes, perfume and hair. Liz peeked over at Courtney’s purse, Prada. Impressive. Courtney was equally impressed to see Liz’s Italy import Fendi handbag.

Courtney watched as Mr. Lacrosse struggled with his overhead and sighed, “He is just SO outmoded.” She shook her head. “Well.” She dug into her purse and brought out a pack of gum, “Chewy stimulant?” She offered Liz.

Taken back from the sudden act of kindness Liz hesitated.

“Relax, it’s not poison.” Courtney placed the stick of gum in her hand.

“Thanks.” Liz said popping it in her mouth to chew.

Courtney readied for the kill, sizing up her opponent, “So, I hear you and Isabel have come to blows.” She casually began to file her nails. “I’m amused by your lack of tolerance for Isabel’s shit.”

Liz shrugged, caring less what her partner thought. She could easily have out done this chick in every way. Yet she had to hand it to the girl, she was an overall catch, not something you throw back in.

Through her lashes Courtney smirked, “I can see that you’re not used to being another face in the crowd. Comes with the territory my dear,” She leaned back against the wall, “When everywhere you turn there’s nothing but females, you tend to get over looked easily.”

Liz let the news sink in, she wasn’t used to a single sex environment. So much competition and intimidation flowed through the air. So thick it could choke a girl to death. However, she HAD come to Winnaman to blend in, to be just another face in the crowd. Her parents wanted her to get well, to be able to get along in large crowds once again like she had before…

Courtney interrupted Liz’s thoughts, “Isabel’s a whole different type of school girl, she’s not your average queen. She’s not just born to it, she pays for it. Her parents donate large sums of skrilla to this school each year.” She sniffed the air, “Do I smell jealousy? Oh… Oh yes,” She sniffed again and looked to Liz, “I do.”

“Look, I don’t know what you’re trying to do here. I’m not going to be anyone’s lap dog, I’m Liz parker. Plain and Simple, all who cross me think twice before you approach me.” She turned her head back to the front.

“You can talk to Isabel however you see fit honey, but when it comes to addressing me…” She scooted up to Liz’s ear, “You take heed or I make you bleed. Got that… Miss Parker?”

Liz gawked at Courtney in disbelief, was this girl for real? Threatening her like that and thinking she was hot? Liz shook her head, “Honey, this is a whole other ball field for me, but when I play I don’t fool around.”

Courtney’s mouth stretched into a full out grin, “I like you Parker, you got spunk. I’m quite taken with you, you’re not like the rest of this PMS ball of fun school.” She laughed, “Stick around, and I can show you a good time. Just don’t ever think you can converse with me in that manner or I’ll lay your Gucci wearing ass flat on your back. But don’t trip girl, I got you.” She nudged the weary girl.

Liz opened her mouth to protest but thought better of it; this girl was a lot of fun despite her meager behavior and excellent taste in fashion. Liz was intrigued; she liked being taken under someone’s wing for a change, instead of always being the one to embrace. She knew this girl must be high on the Richter scale because almost every set of eyes was glued to her. As if they were dying to have a feel of what it was like to be in her shoes for a day.

Her cell trembled from within her purse and Courtney fished it out curiously. Once reading its small bright screen she stifled a hysterical laugh. Liz carelessly stretched her arms above her head and inched her face over to have a peak at the amusing message.

Sean has a tat Craig got a nipple ring N Alex got laid!

“My god.” Courtney shook her head giggling lightly. Liz’s head whipped back onto her side and faked a small yawn. Courtney hurried her response and clamped her phone shut, “I can’t wait to get out of here for Lunch. It’s open campus. Thank god.”

“Really? How cool, my last school was open campus too, but then again it was a small town.” She shrugged, “This is a much larger school, city… town.” Liz trailed off and bobbed her ponytail sideways.

Her cell vibrated again and after she read the message, Courtney stared at Liz for moments, which turned to minutes, “Yep. Mmmhmmm. You’re coming with me.” She nodded, “Class ends now. Let’s go before my friend changes his mind.”

“But class isn’t-“

*RIIIIIIIIIING!*

“Over…” Liz paused. All the girls scrambled to the door and all but once made it safely. Poor Jenny, Liz thought. The girl was an accident waiting to happen; only this time there was no wait. As Jenny hit the floor her hands flew out to grasp anything to hold, unfortunately that was Tess Harding.

“Are you INSANE!?” Tess roared, “Get your grubby hands off me you piece of scholarship shit!” She snapped, “Do I look like a fucking bar handle to you? DO I!?” She screamed infuriated at the mousy girl.

“I-I-I-I d-didn’t m-mean-“

“Y-y-you d-d-d –wha? Is this some new foreign language you speak miss Jennifer Franze? Well P-p-pick up your shit and get out of my fucking way!” She violently kicked her books at Jenny.

“TESS AVA HARDING!” Mr. Lacrosse thundered, “After class. MY office!”

Liz was as shocked as her teacher, where had that spewed from?! Tess spun on her heels and drifted out the door menacing, shoving Jenny back down as her shoulder bumped against hers.

“This isn’t over, this is far from over.” She spat in the girls face before exiting.

Liz stood frozen in disbelief, was that the same girl who had crawled into her bed that morning? The same girl who giggled when she was happy and offered Liz nothing but friendship?

“Psy-cho.” Courtney snorted, “C’mon girl it’s time to meet the guys.” She smiled, guiding Liz out the door.

Liz blinked, “G-guys?”

Heya! Finally! I got something for ya!

Part 3

Guys. One word and Courtney Banks had Liz Parker’s full attention. She hadn’t seen a male in 4 days and it was quite unnerving. How could the law allow schools to be same sex oriented? Didn’t they realize that single sex environments were more likely to cause single sex relationships? But then again, Liz didn’t care what they thought or how people chose to spend their sex lives, she was too content on keeping up with Courtney’s fast pace.

Liz followed behind Courtney obediently as they crossed the large verdant quad, she still couldn't believe she was doing this, running around like some toddler. She still couldn't believe that not one single male student walked these grounds. Suddenly Courtney stopped abruptly and flung her arm out to stop Liz as well.

"Can't have head mistress catch us leaving with boys. She'll throw a fit." Courtney sneered at the open office window. "Okay, c'mon."

Liz trailed along side Courtney until they were in front if the school. She had enough of playing second in their little partnership charade. So as Courtney sat herself down daintily at the steps Liz stood towering over her.

"What are we doing? Where are we going and WHO are we going with?" She snapped, her hands instinctively resting on her hips.

Courtney shook her head chuckling, "Calm down Duchess. These are clean and well-mannered boys we’re rollin' with and trust me sweetie. You want to be on my good side." She smirked.

"Why's that?" Liz spat out still rebelling.

Courtney sighed inwards, "Because, there are girls who’d kill to be in your position.”

Liz snorted, “Please, enlighten me.”

Courtney smirked, “Every school has one girl who seems to have it all. There's always just one girl that has as many connections as she can stand, there's always one girl who has something that everyone else wants but can't have. There's always one girl who's just one of the guys…" She flipped her hair over her shoulder, "And that one girl is NOT Isabel." She snorted and stood up, "Here comes our wheels."

A large white Lincoln Navigator pulled up to the circling driveway and paused, a single boys goofy head sticking out to greet them. "We were told that a hooker by the name of Courtney Banks hangs around these parts… Any of you guys know where we can find such a skank?"

Courtney rolled her eyes, "I'll help you out if you can tell me where I might find a car load of authentic men instead of girlish boys?" She raised an arched brow.

"Ouch." The driver laughed. "Alright, you can enter the truck of fun."

"Gee, thanks Deluca." She winked at the driver, "Alex, Craig, Sean… This is Duchess." She waved a hand in Liz’s direction, "Duchess, these are 1/3 of my boys." She grinned hoping in back. "I'ma let you ride shotgun today Whitman, but that's only cuz I'm afraid to leave Liz back here with you and Lassen." She poked at the guy in back.

"Oh how honored I truly am Banks." The boy called Alex pretended to blush.

Liz stepped up with the help of Courtney and sat in back between her and a gorgeously attractive blonde male. "Hi." She smiled sweet.

He looked her up and down with his glittering deep blue eyes and smiled back, "Hey their Duchess." He winked, "You're in for quite a ride." He grinned and slammed the door shut as the truck sped off onto the road.

"Where's Max?" Courtney scooted up to wrap her arms around the Deluca boy, "He's the one that texted me, ya think he'd show." She kissed Sean's cheek, "Hey there good lookin'."

He chuckled, "Girl you're gonna be the death of me." He bent his arm back to ruffle her hair. "But I love you for it."

She seemed happy with his response and sat back down in the seat with Liz, "Well my best friend is Max Evans, but he's not here as of now. He's… Aye Al what is that fathead doing?"

Alex shrugged as he searched through a CD case; "He said he'd meet up with us at Spoonies." He shoved a sliver CD into the player, "I think he had to finish a lab in bio."

Chevelle blared out the speakers suddenly; Liz flinched at the sudden loud blast of music. The truck rumbled with bass and shook to the beat, almost as if dancing to the lyrics. Liz didn't like being new person to a group; she didn't like being a new anything. Maybe a new fling, she eyes the boy next to her once again.

"Don't bother sweetie, he likes it from the back." Courtney whispered in her ear and sent the car up in a hysterical uproar. "So let's see, I wanna see." She bounced in her seat staring at Craig.

"Awww, Court not now…" He groaned.

Courtney jumped over Liz's lap and attacked the front of Craig's dress shirt. Liz cursed under her breath; this girl was too much. Way more spunky than what Liz was accustomed to. She rolled her eyes hearing Courtney and Craig struggle against each other.

“Don’t make me go back there!” Sean teased from the front.

"FINE! Fine! You win! Okay," Craig shoved Courtney off him playfully and worked the buttons of his shirt, "Okay Courtney, you must refrain yourself from my wonderful bod. This summer has done me good." He teased.

"Less talk, more skin." She blurted.

Liz moved forward, he may have been untouchable but that didn't mean she couldn't get a show. She rested her chin on Courtney's shoulder as they anticipated the infamous nipple ring. The two girls held their breath as Craig's fully exposed chest was revealed. Their eyes drifted all over, completely ignoring the small silver hoop. Liz's eyes widened at his washboard abs, Courtney blinked at his muscular chest.

"Wow…" They both replied in a trance.

He laughed lightly and began to button up his shirt, "You two are worse than guys. You should have been with me when I was in Jamaica, oiled skin everywhere." He licked his lips, "Of course there was the exception of a few… unwanted bodies." He shrugged.

"That being?" Liz asked.

"Women of course." He winked, "But it's okay Duchess, you'd probably catch my eye, there are very few that can." He wrapped his arms around her and Courtney.

"So I'm no longer the only woman in your life Craig?" Courtney joked, she turned to Liz, "You home wrecker!" She pretended to faint.

The truck came to a stop as it finally reached its destination, "Spoooooon me!" Alex yelped jumping out of the truck.

Liz glanced out the window to see a fast food joint with a giant superhero spoon on top of its roof. She laughed at the site of it and laughed harder as they approached the inside. The whole place was spoons! The chairs were bent spoons, the tables had spoons for legs and the waitresses had spoon aprons. Spoons everywhere!

"Man hit Max up and see what's keeping his ass." Sean said to Courtney, "I'll order us a pie. You go get us a table." Her slapped her butt away.

Courtney linked arms with Liz and Craig and kicked Alex behind his knee causing him to topple over. Liz was amused to see just how comfortable they were with each other; Courtney was a lot of fun. However, Liz would never reveal that little detail… Ever.

"So, why is it called Spoonies?" Liz couldn't help but ask as she slid beside Craig at the booth Courtney had chosen. Courtney nudged Alex and dialed on her cell phone.

Alex readied for the history lesson, "Well Duchess, it all started…" He leaned in closer from across the table, "You see the owner of this restaurant is very horny and well… He likes to be spooned. So one night as he was spooning with a guy like Craig-"

"What a bunch of shit Whitman. A guy like me? Pffft!" Craig threw a wadded up napkin in Alex face, "The truth is Liz, that Alex's dad is a very wealthy man, and he wants his son to be equally as wealthy when he grows up. Sooo… Long story short he gave our dearest friend Alex a chance to own his own place. And what does the asshole do? He gives birth to this." Craig motioned around the room.

Alex shrugged, "What can I say? I rebelled. The real reason is that I fucking love the Matrix and well… There is no spoon." He said grabbing a spoon off the table and staring at it, "There is no spoon…"

Liz stared at him confused. How was it that he had passed the 10th grade? How the hell did he even function? Liz felt for the mother who could have given birth to such a child. The woman had her full sympathy, as well as a life long prescription to Wellbutrin. She sighed and rested her chin on her hand, she had started to regret coming along with Courtney. Even despite the wonderful male testosterone peep show.

"The real shit doesn't happen until the weekends at night anyway." Alex leaned back in his seat, "That's when the fun happens. Dad knows nothing about it." He nodded his head menacingly.

"What do you mean she needs a ride!?" Courtney belted out and Alex smacked her, "Whitman!" Her eyes had glared daggers at the lanky boy beside her. Liz ignored the small charade and looked to Craig for answers about the late night shift, and she was obliged.

"It's pretty much a club at night. But his dad has no clue cuz it's underground and Alex had the construction done under another name. How he managed to do that but not pass Speech and Debate I will never know." He motioned for a waitress; "Everyone and their mother would sell their soul to creep up in Reloaded for a night. But no one knows where it is."

"How is that? If its public than-"

"Duchess, listen and learn." Alex held a hand out to silence Liz, "Invite only my dear. And the meeting spots are always different. All participants are blind folded and brought here out back where they walk into an elevator that brings them 40 feet below ground to my fortress." He smiled proudly, "And when its time to go home it is done the same way."

Liz wrinkled her petite nose, "Why all the secrecy?"

Craig laughed as if she should have known, "Cuz then losers would try and sneak in of course. C'mon Duchess I thought you were legit." He nudged her.

"Than why did you tell me?" She said snotty, "What if I tell?"

"Than Courtney will kick your ass." The two boys beamed.

Then Courtney’s shrieking voice broke out, “You're completely fucked up Max, completely. Don't even think about calling me back you asshole." She screamed and threw her phone across the room, barely missing a passing waitress who had conveniently moved to the side as to not be hit.

Liz wondered if that was a regular part of their routine. Nothing like a psychotic episode to start the day!

Sean pulled Alex out of the booth to sit beside his girlfriend, "What's with you." He pulled her face forward to plant a kiss on her roused lips.

She rolled her eyes and leaned into him, "Max. He totally ditched us for his sister… Again. Ever since, fuck it. I don't care." She shook her head and sat up straight.

Liz was terribly interested in finding out more about this Max character. Whoever he was he seemed to be a big part of this small gathered group, and Courtney's best friend. Liz wondered if maybe she was seeing Max behind Sean's back, it wasn't like Liz had never done the same exact thing…

"Michael I don't think we should see each other anymore." Liz paced the side of Michael Guerin's large room, "I think Maria suspects something."

"Fuck Maria." He snorted and rested on his bed, "C'mere."

She shook her head, "No. Michael this isn't right. I miss him too much. Can't you see?" She began to feel her throat tighten, "You're only a distraction, to keep my mind off of Kyle… Oh god I miss him…" She slid down the wall to her knees and cried, "I can't believe he's gone…"

Michael rolled his eyes annoyed; yet he made his way over to the cowering Liz Parker and held her close. "Liz… Kyle's dead. You loved him but… But you were with me behind his back." He snorted, "You just feel guilty. It's perfectly normal…" He pulled her into his arms and carried her over to the bed. "It was an accident and its time to move past it."

Liz looked at him with tearful eyes, "It wasn't an accident Michael… It was MY fault he died."

"I don't see why he jumps when she snaps her fingers anyhow." Sean's loud voice broke Liz's thoughts. Her body shivered in fright.

Craig seemed to notice her uncomfortable state, "You okay Duchess?" He wrapped a toned arm around her shoulders, "We're not like this everyday." He teased.

Courtney slammed her fist down on the table, “I swear I would SO kick her ass if she wasn’t his sister!”

“Chill baby, I’m sure you’ll have your match up someday.” Sean nudged her chin, “Besides, the girl is in great need of an ass whoopin’.”

Alex's angered voice interrupted everyone, "Will you all stop talking to horribly about my future wife!?" He roared.

"Oh please… Pshhh…" Everyone at the table mocked him. Liz was so caught up in her own world that she hadn't even bothered to ask whom they were talking about. All she thought about was the past she couldn't leave behind. Even several states away she couldn't hide from it.

>*<

As Liz hopped out the backseat of the Navigator, Craig had whipped a hand out to catch her wrist, "Hey, hit me up if you need to talk girl, I know when I see a S.O.S. okay?" He patted her hand and kissed it, "Later Duchess." He winked slamming the door shut. The truck sped away as it had before and both girls waved in farewell.

The rest of the lunch had been a complete blur to Liz; she sat silently and smiled when appropriate. All the while fighting her inner demons and shoving her skeletons back in their closets. Past, present, and future haunted her every thought, and chilled her to the core. She followed Courtney up the entrance halfway before changing her mind. She couldn't go back to class in the state she was in, ready to snap at the next person in her way.

"Hey I'll meet you in class okay? I'm gonna spark one really quick." She smiled to her friend, "I'll be there in like 10. Save me a seat?"

Courtney pinched the end of Liz's nose and nodded, "Hey, I got you. Remember?" She spun on her heels and clanked the rest of the way up the stairs and entered the school without a glance back.

Liz took several deep breaths, forcing her self forward to walk around the school before she would finally cross the threshold of its properties. Just the thought of Michael had shattered what little control she had over herself. Her heart began to race and her skin broke into a vast sweat. She knew what was happening, it always happened when she would work herself up into a frenzy. It was one of the reason’s she wasn’t ready to be on her own. Yet rather than do the breathing exercise her therapist had suggested she do during a panic attack, she dug through her purse in search of secret herbal remedy. The only thing that could calm her nerves when they were bunched and ready to burst.

Finding it she stuck it into her mouth and fumbled with her lighter, her fingers shaking wildly. Unable to relax her hands in order to light her only cure she cried out in exasperation and anxiety.

She flicked the switch several times more before finally getting a small flame to erupt. She sucked its fire deep into her pipe, causing it to ignite the herbs within, and then she was inhaling it deep into her lungs and holding it there until she couldn't breathe. She blew the smoke out her mouth and sighed as her muscles began to loosen up and her heart to beat in a regular alternation as before.

She sighed deeply relaxed and finally aware that she was okay. The world had not ended; it was all actually quite funny to think about if she looked back. She giggled and decided she would walk back to class.

She took two steps forward while taking an immense drag of her bowl again and ran smack dab into something, falling back to the floor on her butt. That something was actually a someone, Liz leered up from the ground. Her eyes already glazed over and dilated, she was so busted.

"Watch where you're going asshole." She snapped. If this girl peeped one word of this…

"You ran into me. I was just about to get back to school." Liz noticed that the voice was much deeper than a females. She squinted up at the figure from her spot on the floor.

She rubbed at her eyes and blinked, "You're a guy?" She sniffed and wiped her nose, "What is a guy doing here? You a perv?" She smirked.

He laughed aloud heartedly, “No, I am not a perv.”

Still relaxed on the dirt floor Liz tried her best to focus on her strangers face. But looking up just made her dizzy, she blinked her eyes several times to try and focus, maybe even make the dizziness pass.

He chuckled amused, "Man, you're toasted. Wow I thought you prep girls were wimps. You must be new." He helped her up.

She shrugged out of his arms, "I don't need your help." She growled.

"Of course not." He held his arms out defenseless, "How rude of me to be polite."

Her eyes finally focused on his face, strong jaw line and chiseled features, dark raven hair. Whoa, he was just as hot as Craig! She must have smoked some offly good shit this time.

She shook her head clean, "Apology excepted."

He laughed, "That wasn't an apology."

"Well it should have." She yanked herself to her and swayed a bit, leaning back against the chain link fence behind her, "What the hell are you doing here? No BOYS allowed on campus."

"I was just dropping my sister off, she needed my help bringing things up to her room. I had full permission from Mistress Granger." He snatched Liz's small glass pipe and sniffed it, "Quite an expensive choice here…" He sniffed it again, "You better watch out with this stuff." He stuck it in the front pocket of her blazer.

Liz rolled her eyes, "Whatever." She sighed and looked up to the sky. Everything felt so mellow and watery. So… Mushy. She started to giggle.

"You sure you're okay?" He asked moving in closer, "You don't look like you're ready to go back in there."

Liz snorted, "Look buddy, if this is a line. I ain't biting. I'm fine okay? Thank you for your company." She stumbled forward towards her school, "I'm going back to class. And you." She poked his chest, "You will go back to wherever it is you came from and I will go back to class." She pointed at herself. "You," She poked him again, "Me." She pointed to herself, "Good bye Mr. Man." She giggled and staggered all the way back to her class where she knew Courtney had saved her seat in back.

Not once taking a look back to the boy who watched her walk away until he could no longer see her dark hair bouncing up and down in back of her blue blazer.

Long awaited! (I think) ;)

Part 4

“Which of the following is not part of the lac operon of E. coli?” Courtney read aloud from her worksheet, “I can’t believe we actually have to know this shit.” She flung her paper away.

“Gene for RNA polymerase.” Liz answered as she circled C, “The RNA polymerase genes encode subunits of the DNA-dependent RNA polymerase that are involved in the transcription of all E. coli operons.” She read from her study book, “It’s right here on page 57 Court.” Liz pointed to the answer.

Courtney shrugged and flopped down on the couch behind Liz, they had been studying for an hour in the lounge and Courtney had not paid attention to a single thing. Liz however was set on earning her A+ in the Molecular Biology class they were paired in. It was the afternoon after their lunch date with the guys of Vermont Academy For Boys and they had been almost inseparable since then. The past two days they has sat and eaten lunch together, in every class they shared they had teamed up. Liz hadn’t seen much of Tess since her charade with Jenny, at night Liz would pour herself into bed and fall fast asleep without even noticing if Tess was there or not. Liz and Courtney had decided that a study session was due since their worksheets were to be turned in the following day which would ultimately be Friday.

“You hear about that party that’s happening tomorrow?” Liz replied breezily and handed her completed paper to Courtney.

Courtney nodded, “Yep. It’s at Alex place.”

“Reloaded?” Liz asked.

She shook her head, “No, Reloaded is being remolded because Alex is tired of the look. This party is open to anyone and it’s at his dad’s winter loft.” She scribbled down Liz’s answers, “His dad’s in Europe until December so Alex plans to trash that house until then.”

Liz chuckled lightly, “That Alex is a character.” She stretched out to lean on the couch beside Courtney. “It’s such a shame that Craig’s controversial.” She shrugged.

“He’s not so much controversial, it’s just that he prefers boys over girls. It’s not to say he hasn’t had his share of females. He’s known to slip from time to time.” Courtney chewed on the end of her pencil, “I bet you could straighten out a part of that ripple in his line.” She winked.

“Oh please.” Liz laughed, “So, are we on for tomorrow? I’d go with Tess but I can’t seem to find her.”

Courtney rolled her eyes, “I feel SO sorry for you that you got stuck with that nutcase. She’s totally a ticking time bomb waiting for a detonation.” She handed Liz her document back, “Thanks by the way.”

“No problem.” Liz stuck it in her binder, “I’m beat what time is it?” She yawned.

“Uhhh…” Courtney checked her watch, “Almost 8. Damn we’ve been here for like 3 hours! I say we go up to the attic and chill for a while.” She stood to leave.

Liz nodded, “Good idea, I’m dying for a Cosmo.”

“Come along deary.” Courtney chirped in a fake English accent, “We’ll fix you up in no time a’tal.” She linked arms with the brunette and they scurried up to the attic as quickly as they could without being caught.

As Liz crawled up the latter and into the room full of freshly lit cigarettes and high priced perfumes she thought about Tess. She missed the blonde curly haired girl full of ambiance and cheer. Her eyes searched the room for any sign of Tess yet was unsuccessful; she slouched down into the middle sofa. It’s plush velvet rubbing against her bare legs, she sighed as she snuggled in deeper. Courtney walked around the room from group to group, exchanging gossip and sharing laughs. Liz was dead tired as she sipped daintily from her glass, tasting the tart flavor of her Cosmopolitan drink.

The sound of glass crashing to the floor followed by endless giggles forced Liz to sink down further into the sofa. Wanting to hide from the crowd. She swallowed her drink and leaned her head back, her legs resting on the soft cushions. She could’ve fallen asleep right there and then had Isabel not came barging into the place screaming.

“Who the hell told Jesse that I was sleeping with someone else? He said someone that goes here told him. I know it was someone in this room, so someone better start talking or I’m laying everyone’s shit bare right here, right now...” She rested her hands on her hips, eyeing every girls face. “Lisa,” She snapped her fingers, “I need a martini.”

Liz was peacefully enjoying her light nap in the middle of the room. Completely ignoring the bitter rantings of one Ms. Isabel Evans. She didn’t even flinch when Isabel came storming over to where she lay and screamed at her to move.

“Are you deaf?! Get the HELL out of my sofa!” She shouted.

Liz stretched out further and opened her eyes into slits, “I’m sorry were you speaking to me?” She yawned.

“Of course I was talking to you, you fucking wh-“

“I’d think very carefully about the next words that come spewing from your mouth Isabel.” Courtney strolled up from behind and sat down beside Liz, raising her legs to rest along side Liz’s.

Isabel’s eyes narrowed, “You know Banks I’ve had it up to here with your shit.” She snapped, “You walk around like you own this school, and you know what?” She took a defiant step forward.

Courtney yawned and lazily glanced back at her, “I do?”

Liz started busting up laughing; Isabel’s face had completely fallen in shock. Courtney stifled her laughs and waited for her rival’s reaction, Liz was attentive and kept her mouth shut for the small time being. In about three seconds she would start to hammer Isabel down to her place below like a nail.

Isabel chuckled, an evil grin spreading across her glossed to shine lips, “Oh Courtney, you act so tough, so hard.” She licked her lips, “No one knows the REAL you, not like I do. You’ve been a thorn in my side ever since we were kids, and I think you’re beginning to forget exactly what it is I do for you Courtney.”

Courtney gulped yet remained strong, “Isabel.” She whispered, “Shut your mouth now, or I will.” She hated Isabel with a passion yet kept her around only for one simple reason. Isabel knew something no one should, and she dangled it over Courtney’s head whenever she was given the chance.

Liz rolled her eyes, “Can someone pour me another Cosmo, my headache is starting to return.” She held out her glass for someone to retrieve.

Isabel slapped it out of Liz’s grip and sent it crashing to the floor in a hundred pieces, “And you, I told you already how much of a nuisance you are. I don’t give a shit if you were miss thing back in Roswell but here in Winnaman you obey by me or you get the fuck out of my way.” She growled.

Liz blinked and watched as the rest of the room back off, silent as ever and uncomfortable. Liz’s eyes averted to Courtney who stared down at her hands, Liz was completely lost. So many secrets and lies roamed the walls of this institute that it sent her head spinning. Isabel took another step forward, only this time towards Liz. Finally Liz found her voice and stood up to face her challenger, she was never one to back down.

“Isabel, Isabel, Isabel…” She tisked, “Maybe if your head wasn’t stuck so far up your ass you’d realize that I don’t take orders or threats. You can say what you say, you can even order whomever the hell you want around like a puppy. But you will never, and I mean NEVER, intimidate me.” She stood nose to nose with the tall flaxen girl before her, “Are we clear? Or do you need an example?”

“Whoa, whoa girls just a little bit too much PMS is in the room.” Tess sauntered over from the entrance, “May I suggest that you both back the fuck off?” She grabbed a glass and mixed herself a strong tonic, “Isabel, you need a reality check and Liz, you need one too. No one is ever going to be miss thang okay? Not as long as I still walk these halls.” She gulped her drink down, “C’mon Liz, it’s almost lights out and I advise that you all return to your rooms before Granger does her rounds.”

Liz allowed Tess to slink her fingers through her own and guide her back to their room. Liz restrained herself from the urge to ring Tess around the neck out of pure spite. Who the hell did Tess think she was? Through everything that Liz had gone through that past week she simply didn’t have the strength to argue. She changed into her nightgown quietly and pulled the covers to her chin. In bed she thought about lots of things that she could have said to Isabel, things that would have sounded better. She imagined slapping the girl across the face or throwing her drink in her eyes.

She shook her head and closed her eyes; she listened to Tess in the next bed. Riffling through a magazine and listening to her loud earphones, Liz could hear the faint sound of Evanescence lyrics. Then her thoughts switched to something she hadn’t caught before, Courtney. It was very unusual for Courtney to be played with and yet Isabel seemed to know all the right buttons. Even if Liz had only known the kind hearted young woman for only a week she still felt as if she knew that silence was completely out of character for Ms. Banks. So many secrets, so many lies, she didn’t know how long she could survive Winnaman Academy.

“You think way too much Parker.” Tess flipped her CD player to the side and nestled deep within the sheets and blankets of her single bed. “Whatever you and Isabel have going on, you need to squash it. Its stupid and pointless to fight over popularity issues Liz, there are much better things in life.” She turned over in bed, “Good night.” And fell asleep.

“Night.” Liz muttered right before slumber took over her as well.

PART 5

“Kyle, what was that?” Liz panicked, her muscles tensing at the sound of leaves being crunched under shoes. If they were caught it was the end of Liz Parker’s life in West Roswell High. She for sure would lose Homecoming Queen due to forfeit, and she just couldn’t stand to be defeated.

Kyle looked up towards the window and squinted, “You think maybe its Maria?” He sat up and began to dress, “We should get out of here anyways.” He sighed.

They dressed quickly and shoved the ballots back into the voting box promptly and quietly as they could. Liz searched the room for any ballots she may have missed; she kneeled down to look under the main desk. Her eyes leveled with the floor she saw two boots step into the room. Authority swirled around the air and Liz felt her breath catch in her throat.

Kyle stood arms raised high, his eyes pleading with Liz to stay down. She wouldn’t obey, she never did. She stood up immediately and was suddenly face to face with the barrel end of a revolver, 45 magnum. Her voice shook as she begged the owner of the firearm to think about his decision carefully. She felt Kyle move in closer from behind her, inching his way towards the threat.

“W-What are y-you doing here?” The man’s voice stuttered within the office, “No one is s-supposed to b-be here.” His hand shook, his finger pressing the trigger tighter.

“We were just looking at some files, Mr. Gilliam asked us to-“

“Don’t move!” He shouted weary and swung his gun to face Kyle, “I’m warning you, both of you.” He shifted the gun from Liz to Kyle and back.

“There’s no reason for the gun Mr. We were just leaving.” Liz tried to reason with the man, “Are you the security guard?” Liz asked thoughtfully. “I’m sure you don’t really want to shoot that thing.” She smiled.

He lowered the pistol down an inch, “No. N-no I don’t, you have no idea how much I don’t.” He whimpered.

Kyle moved in closer and readied to attack, Liz looked to the scene that was vastly unfolding before her. She could handle this easily, but Kyle was protective of Liz and the barrel in her face posed great threat to him. Her eyes locked with his and she shook her head slightly before looking back to the guard.

“We’re leaving now. Okay?” She took one step forward and the gun lined up with her nose once again. Kyle’s instincts took over as he tackled the man to the ground, both fighting for the gun. Liz screamed in fright over the struggle, she feared the consequences of resisting arrest or trespassing.

A loud grunt sent Liz’s neck to snap towards the two, her body frozen in place. She couldn’t move forward to try and break up the battle. Tears streamed down her face as she screamed for them to stop, to just end everything. To start over and make amends. Kyle cried out as the guards fist went crashing into his jaw, Liz backed up against the wall terrified. They struggled for the gun, Liz clenched her eyes shut and kneeled down on the floor. Her hands pressing against her ears as she rocked back and forth, crying for a happier place. Then the sound of a shot fired pierced the air, her head snapped up to see the two lying perfectly still. The guard stirred slightly, he moaned in pain, he sat up weary. His eyes looked to Liz, then to the body below him.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered, his voice shaking, his breath ragged, “I’m so sorry.”

No. She shook her head, the tears streaming down her cheeks, No... No... NO! She scrambled over to Kyle, cradling him in her arms tightly, “Call an ambulance! You bastard call 911!” She screamed, watching the guard run out the door. “Kyle… Baby? Can you hear me?” She whispered.

He shivered, his skin cool to the touch, “It’s cold…” He muttered as tremors shook through him, Liz held onto him tighter. Each time he convulsed she cried out in fright, his left side was covered in blood. Thick, red, sticky…

“Kyle, please don’t go… Okay?” She kissed his cheek, “Please don’t go…” She rocked him back and forth in her arms.

He smiled, his eyes open in thin slits, “Sing for me, one last time Parker…” He grunted in pain, “I want to hear your voice one last time.”

She shook her head, “Don’t talk like that, Kyle you’re gonna be fine…”

“Please.” He pleaded.

She cried, tears streaming down her cheeks, all the pain in the world crackled through her in thunderbolts. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, not like this. Liz Parker was going to star in the school play, she was going to win queen, and she was going to marry Kyle Valenti in two years when they would graduate West Roswell High. Nowhere in the script was it written this way, that one of her accomplishments would be the end of another. To win was to lose, and it wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair that you didn’t have a choice. One or the other, win or lose, or both.

He shivered again in her arms, “Liz…” His eyes closed slightly, his breath slower than before. His heart slowed, it’s low thumping becoming calmer, more tired, and ready to sleep eternally.

She smiled down at him, if this was it than he deserved to hear her sing one last time, because it was guaranteed to be her last. So as her hand pushed past the hair that had fallen over his brows, she hummed a tune she had practiced. Her voice caught in her throat and burned like acid. She forced the next few words out in vain,

“It was always, always you
Oh my eyes did wonder,
To fro and yonder,
Still my heart’s affection,
Always beat in one direction,”

She sang her favorite song from
Carnival, the musical she was to star in the week after homecoming, starting the year off with a bang. He stirred, taking his final breathes, hearing her final words.

“Every beat for you my sweet,
All the love my beating heart can give,
It shocks me so, you didn’t know,
That it was always you…”

Her voice shook with fear and melancholy, Liz never finished, for as she sung that last verse, Kyle Valenti breathed his last breath…

Unable to accept her fate, she screamed. She cursed the sky and whoever above. She saw the gun lying not but two feet away. She heard the vast footsteps of the guard jogging back into the office.

And in those dearly innocent 30 seconds…

Liz made a decision.

>*<

“Ms. Parker? Elizabeth? Eli-“

“I’m sorry?” Liz blinked several times, Ms. Summers staring down at her in bewilderment.

“I asked you to please recite the next verse of the play.” She cleared her throat and pressed a fingernail to Liz’s book, “There.”

She stared down at the book before her, Macbeth. How depressing it was, a woman who walked around bitter and half dead. Liz felt a strange connection with the fictional character for a moment. Ms. Summer’s eyes bore down on Liz again; she waited patiently for Liz to start.

Liz opened her mouth to speak, ready to play the part. She was good at that, playing the part. She hadn’t played along in a long time, she was used to everyone following her own screenplay. She hadn’t participated in anything even remotely similar to her drama theater life back at Roswell. That was over, it would never be opened again, she would never again sing in a musical, she would never again recite epic literature to entertain the public. That was that.

“Shove it up your ass.” Liz threw the book across the room and stormed out the door, her hand fumbling around in her pocket for release. There it was, rolled thick and compact. Her lips stretched out into a grin, in a few minutes she wouldn’t feel a thing.

She strolled across the quad and into the woods behind Winnaman where it was common for the girls to run their laps along the trails during gym class. She pushed past thick shrubs and climbed up into an old weeping willow. Snuggling into a soft pocket of the tree she leaned her head back against the bark and lit her smoke. It was bliss; the first hit was always the most pertinent. It was the first hit that got you high as a kite; she held its toxic fumes deep within her lungs for as long as she could before exhaling.

So what if with every hit she lost more and more of her sanity? So what if every time she lit up she became more and more addicted? It wasn’t as if anyone cared, or if anyone would miss her the day she finally OD’d. Every new supply was stronger than the last. She asked for laced drugs every time, each time it fucked her up. Her supplier was so good to her, he never over charged, he never screwed her over. What would she do without her savior?

Everyday the dreams and memories got clearer and more detailed. Each night as she lay in bed she prayed for a dreamless sleep, to be void. Yet every night they grew stronger, more perplexed and valiant than the last. She wanted to float away, into the sky with Kyle. She thought less and less about him with each passing day. Almost two years and she still wasn’t able to let go, it was a burden to feel so much guilt. Especially to think of the cause of her actions that night, two families mourning a loss and she only felt sorrow for one. Her Kyle. She sucked the butt end of her joint again and closed her eyes, she imagined herself invisible. If she wasn’t there than she wasn’t real, if no one saw you than you weren’t real. If you weren’t real than you wouldn’t feel so much pain, so much discomfort and sorrow, so much self-pity.

She licked her dry cracked lips wet with her tongue; she slid her right index finger across her mouth in one sweeping motion. Pulling away the excess skin and licking them again, she inhaled her drug yet again. What were the people back in Roswell doing right now? Were they thinking about her? Did they miss her like she missed them? Or did they continue on with life as if she had never graced them with her existence? The drug took over her all at once, her vision fogged and her body lifted to the sky. She practically fell from the tree as she tried to climb down and get back to school before lunch.

Her feet stumbled forward one after the other, her hair and clothes ruffled. She knew she looked a mess. Maybe she’d just skip school altogether that day; it was Friday after all, the end of hell week one. She breathed the clean air of the woods deep into her lungs and chocked, her lungs burned. She laughed ironically, her lungs couldn’t bear to breathe clean fresh air but they could withstand the poisonous fumes she would inhale when she needed to get away from the world.

She followed the dirt trail beside her perch. Her white tennis shoes kicking up clouds of dust and filth. She giggled lightly and walked on in a mission to see where she would end up. Her balance was off, her mind was gone, and she staggered onward carelessly. She walked until her feet couldn’t carry her any further, she laughed at everything, she hallucinated, she talked to creatures only she could see. They spoke back to her merrily aware that she was insane. She tripped over a stone and fell down to her knees, scrapping the skin deep. Hissing in pain she sat down on the path, incoherent and dizzy. Her stomach lurched forward; she gagged on the bile that rose up in her throat. She swiped the back of her hand across her mouth and groaned.

“Twice in three days, you must be following me.” A male’s voice rang through her ears, causing her to flinch from the volume. “Hey... You okay?” His voice grew nearer.

She scrambled to her feet and tried to jog away but faltered back to the dirt floor where she crawled into the green grass beside it. She rested her cheek against its cool lawn and lurched again, spewing out the rest of her breakfast that morning. Perhaps she’d have to reconsider her large doses with her dealer. Liz rolled to her side, away from the vomit. However, the smell nipped at her nostrils unbearably. She groaned again and crawled away a few feet to rest, her head ached and her body tingled with sweat. Every so often she would shiver in waves of heat, hot and cold every other second.

“Oh my god… You wait here I’ll get help.” The voice called out in alarm.

Liz struggled to find her voice, “No! No I’m fine…” She tried to sit up, her eyelids heavy, “I’m just… I’m so fucked up…” She cursed, her back hitting the ground with a thump, “I’m fine, go on.” She waved him off, “I’m… Fine…” She passed out.

Thanks for the patience… to whoever is actually still reading this, haha.

Last from part 5…

Liz struggled to find her voice, “No! No I’m fine…” She tried to sit up, her eyelids heavy, “I’m just… I’m so fucked up…” She cursed, her back hitting the ground with a thump, “I’m fine, go on.” She waved him off, “I’m… Fine…” She passed out.

PART 6

“You so owe me big time you bitch.” Someone muttered over Liz’s comatose body, directing the words at Liz herself.

“Shut up, we don’t have time for your bitching. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone, you’re the only-“

“I’m helping aren’t I?” The annoyed voice of a girl growled at the boy who tried to reason with her. Liz identified the voice as Courtney’s.

“Barely.” He snorted.

“Oh shut up St. Spitwad.” Courtney snubbed, “I don’t understand what it is about this girl that spells trouble.”

There was a shuffling, “I dunno, but she was pretty messed up when I came across her.”

Courtney sighed, “Any idea what she took? Was she like, sleeping beauty when you just so happen to stumble upon her?”

“I was jogging! We have conditioning you know! You said you know her?” He shuffled around Liz, “Hey, thanks for helping me out by the way.”

She laughed, “Whatever, you better get out of here before you get caught. And yea, I know this girl, her names Liz. She’s my bio partner, I took her to lunch with us the other day, but you ditched us for-“

“Don’t start Court.” He snapped, “I don’t want to go there right now.”

“Start what?” Courtney played dumb.

“You’re such a pain Banks,” Liz felt him move towards Courtney, “I better go before someone see’s me, see you later at Alex’s okay?” They hugged and he left.

Liz stirred uncomfortably in her spot on the bed where she lay, groaning in pain. Her head throbbed, her knees stung, her stomach muscles were tight. “Ugh… Fuck…” She cursed as she turned over.

Courtney sat down next to Liz, “Welcome back Duchess, I heard about your little out burst today in English. You’re just a regular little rebel now aren’t you?” She chuckled, “Here.” She shoved a glass and a pill into Liz’s hands, “It’ll balance you out.”

“What is it?” Liz muttered, her sight focusing on Courtney’s face. She swallowed the pill quickly.

“Just take it, don’t ask questions. I told Granger you were sick, I have to get back to class. If you’re feeling better you can come with me to the party later, and you can chill here in my room until then.” She stood up, “Have a nice sleep.” She winked.

Liz wrinkled her nose, “Sleep? I just woke-“ Her eyes dropped, her head fell back to the pillow, “What the hell did you give me?” She whispered, her ears ringing violently. She gasped for air.

“It’s gonna make you feel like you’re dying for like ummm… five minutes but then you’ll pass out from the pain. When you wake up you’ll be fine. Trust me, and quit asking questions Parker, I told you… I got you.” She kissed Liz’s forehead and walked out the door.

“What would you do if you had one week to live?” Liz asked innocently drumming her fingertips along Michael’s chest.

“I’d have as much sex as I can!” He rolled over on top of her, “Lets practice.” He winked.

She squealed, “Get off I can’t breathe.” She giggled, “I’m serious Michael. Tell me.” She snuggled up close to him, holding him tight, “I know what I’d do…”

“What’s that?” He snorted, his arms wrapping around her petite form, “Shop ‘til you drop?” He cracked

“NO!” She socked his side, “I’d be with everyone I loved, and then I’d eat as much ice cream as I could.” She laughed.

“Why are we talking about this?” Michael straightened up against the headboard, “I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. Do you?”

She rolled her dark brown eyes and sighed, “It was hypothetical Guerin, the point is that you don’t know.” She looked down at her hands, “You’ll never know.” She turned over and gave him her back.

Michael groaned in frustration, ever since Maria played Liz’s part in “Carnival” she’d been a walking Buddha. Maybe Kyle had rubbed off on her somehow as he departed the earth. Either way, Michael was sick of it. The only ancient Asian shit he wanted to hear from Liz Parker was karma sutra.

“I gotta go.” Liz stood up from the bed in the buff, causing Michael to harden once again and pull her back down to him. It was always the same; every time she tried to express emotion he’d push her away. And when she would oblige he’d pull her back down to him. She’d never escape. Never…

“OH!” Liz jumped up from bed, soaked in sweat, her chest heaving. “Shit…” She cursed, swiping a hand over her mouth and pulling her hair back out of her face. She glanced at the clock beside the bed. Classes had ended 3 minutes ago, which meant Courtney would be on her way. She leaned her back up against the backboard and tried to calm her breathing.

When would they end? When would the memories fade away, she wanted them gone, out of her life forever… Like Kyle.

“BOO!” Tess poked her head in the door, “Heard you were playin’ hooky. Thought I’d snap you out of your funk. C’mon. We got a partay to ready for.” Tess shimmed up to Liz, “Unless you’d rather stay… here.” She wrinkled her nose as she looked around the room.

“Behave.” Liz shot, “Help me out of here.” She lifted her arms up, “I feel like puking again.” She groaned as Tess pulled her out of bed.

Tess linked her fingers through Liz’s and hauled her out the door, “Puking’s for wussies Liz. Buck up.” She snapped.

Liz rolled her eyes as a huge wave of nausea passed through her. Whatever Hugo had laced her shit with he wasn’t playing around. She made a mental note to remind him never to do that again. She searched the corridors for any trace of Courtney and was unsuccessful. She needed to thank the zesty blonde for having her back, it’s not everyday you found someone as down as she was.

“What are you doing in my room?” A sassy brunette entered the bunk, “Never mind, I don’t care. Just get out.” She rolled her eyes and pulled her dark jacket off her shoulders.

Liz and Tess still hadn’t moved. Ignoring the girl altogether they continued on in their small quarrel. Liz’s head pounded as if someone took a sledgehammer to her forehead.

“For real Liz, c’mon we got to get ready. There’s a lot of hot guys that are gonna be at that party tonight.” She pulled on Liz’s arms once more.

The girl on the other side of the room snorted, “Don’t tell me you’re going to that poor excuse of a party? Geez Tess give it up, he’s never going to come around.” She flopped down onto her mattress.

Tess glared, “Tiffany I’d keep my dick sucking mouth shut if I were you. The only reason you’re ragging on it is because you weren’t invited.” She turn back to Liz, “We on the other hand, were.” She grinned and took Liz’s hand.

Tiffany shrieked, “SHE got invited?”

Liz’s head was ready to explode, “Could you keep the shrieks to a minimum, my head is about to blow.”

Tess held her ground, “I was invited, which means I can bring a guest. And guess what? That guest isn’t you.” She smirked and pulled Liz out the door.

Liz didn’t bother to tell Tess that she herself had been invited to Alex’s house party. She didn’t see the need to wreck the dramatic exit she had staged so well. Instead she allowed Tess to lug her away from Courtney’s room and into their own where she collapsed into bed.

“Liz!” Tess yelped, “You better quit acting like this by the time-“

“Okay!” Liz snapped. She grabbed the bottle of aspirin Tess had handed her and downed three, just in case, she thought to herself.

Tess rolled her baby blue’s, “You are so dramatic.”

Liz rubbed her eyes and leaned back into her bed feeling nauseous, at least the room has stopped spinning. Who was that guy that kept coming to her intoxicated rescue? Pondering the blur that was his face she turn to ask Tess when someone called for her.

“Hey Parker!” Someone yelled from outside, “Phone call!”

Liz sat up quickly, wincing as she did so. “Who is it?” She called out, ignoring the curious look on Tess’ face.

“I ain’t your maid Parker! Get your ass out here!” The voice growled, and she realized then it was Ashley, the girl who sat next to her in English Literature.

Liz reluctantly left the comfort of her bed and walked slowly to the hall phone, the single communication device on the girls third floor. 26 teenage girls, one phone, you do the math.

“Hello?” She grumbled into the phone after snatching the receiver from Ashley’s hand.

“Liz! Damn do you have any idea how fucking hard it was to get through? I had pretend I was your damn father for-“

“Michael?” Liz’s brow wrinkled in confusion, “W-why are you calling me?” She stuttered, suddenly feeling her knees shake.

He snorted, “Cuz you’re my girlfriend and I miss you? Jesus Liz, what the hell is up with you?” He grumbled angry, “Okay so here it goes, next weekend you come down here and we’ll go to my parents cottage in Santa Fe. Don’t trip they’ll be in London until February….” He droned on, Liz clenched her eyes shut and tried not to scream.

“I can’t.” She choked out finally.

“What do you mean you can’t. What the hell Parker?” He snapped again.

Her stomach clenched, “I said, I can’t. It’s really hard to get out of this place, and I’m on watch.” She half lied, she was watched, but she also knew ways to get around it. She feel ill just thinking about him coming to the only place she was just Liz Parker, plain and simple. No strings attached.

She heard him curse over the line, “Just shut up and do what I say okay? Everyone here misses you, Maria said to tell you she loves you or some girly ass shit like that.” He griped, “Okay so I gotta go to football practice, I’ll call you tomorrow. Love you. Bye.”

-click-

Liz dropped the phone onto its cradle and ran to empty the rest of her stomach in the restroom.

“Who was that?” Tess asked at the stall door, “Must have been someone important if you’re over here spewing your guts out.” She knocked lightly.

Liz slammed open the door, “It was my father, and it’s MY business. So I’d appreciate it if you’d back the fuck off.” She sideswiped past her to rinse her mouth out over the sink.

“Touché mi amor, but let me just say that I can only take your shit for so long.” She glided across the porcelain floor smooth as silk to Liz and dabbed her face with a wet cloth. “You gonna be okay?”

Liz nodded.

Tess stared back at her through the mirror, “My dad was a pain in the ass too. Except he’s dead now.” She grinned, “So now I have to deal with step-dads who try to fill his spot.” She shrugged and sat up on the sink beside Liz, “Take a shower, relax. Use my Clinique body wash; it’ll calm your tense nerves. Then…” She hopped down, “I’ll do your hair and we can go have fun and forget whatever it was that your loser father said. Okay?” She pinched Liz’s nose.

Liz blinked back, “I don’t really feel like going out tonight Tess.” She tried to exit the room.

Tess swung her arm out to block her path, nearly knocking Liz over with her firm hold, “That wasn’t a suggestion.” She snapped, “I’ll pick out what we’ll wear. Mind if I peak through your stuff?” She was suddenly sweet again.

Liz shook her head confused of the sudden rush of emotions, “Go ahead.”

Tess’ grin grew, “FABULOUS!” She kissed Liz’s cheek and danced out the restrooms. Leaving an apprehensive Liz Parker in her wake.

Part 6

Tess swung her arm out to block her path, nearly knocking Liz over with her firm hold, “That wasn’t a suggestion.” She snapped, “I’ll pick out what we’ll wear. Mind if I peak through your stuff?” She was suddenly sweet again.

Liz shook her head confused of the sudden rush of emotions, “Go ahead.”

Tess’ grin grew, “FABULOUS!” She kissed Liz’s cheek and danced out the restrooms. Leaving an apprehensive Liz Parker in her wake.

Part 7

Was it possible for someone like Liz to NOT be carried away with the “popular” people? No. Liz Parker lived to shine, and shine she must. She fluffed out her hair once more and sighed at her reflection in the mirror. She liked what she saw, that was for sure. She knew she looked good, her small petite figure may not have been playboy of the month type but she sure as hell knew how to work her shit. Stretching her arms far up above her head she hummed lightly, oblivious of what she was purring. Had she known she would have chocked back her song and thrown herself over a bridge.

“Not bad. I sure know how to pick ‘em.” Tess sauntered in the room, “A Black halter and khaki mini skirt never fails.” She winked and then moved over to stand beside Liz at the dresser, “Oh I love that color. What is it?” She glanced at Liz’s glossy lips.

Taking a tiny step back she grinned, “MAC Glass.” She handed Tess the small clear tube, “Knock yourself out.”

Pouting Tess pulled Liz back to the dresser, “I don’t know how to apply gloss Liz, I always make a mess. Please? Pretty please?” She fluttered her lashes like butterflies.

Shaking her head she approached Tess, “I swear, what would you do with out me huh?” Liz laughed, “What DID you do without me?”

Tess tried not to grin as Liz glossed her pursed lips, “I was nothing without you Parker. Positively nothing.” She pulled Liz in closer and wrapped her arms around Liz’s middle, “Liz. I know its only been like a week but.” She squeezed her arms around Liz tighter, “You’re my best friend.” She pulled away from their embrace long enough to stare directly into Liz’s eyes. “Am I your best friend?” She asked, her nose almost touching Liz’s.

Liz was a jumble of nerves. What was Tess doing? She knew how Tess loved to tease but what was she doing? Almost choking on her words she said, “I –uh… Ummm. Y-yea. Yeah?” She managed a side smile and a slight shrug.

Tess’ grin beamed brighter, “You’re my prettiest best friend ever,” She giggled, placing both her hands on either side of Liz’s cheeks.

Her heart was pounding in her chest; she feared Tess would hear how hard her heart thumped against her rib cage. It threatened to implode with confusion, they were friends. Just friends. But why was Tess looking at her in a way that made her feel that Tess wanted to be just a little more than… “Just friends.” Her eyes darted everywhere but at Tess’ own piercing baby doll eyes. They glistened like shined china.

“Liz. Look at me…” Tess murmured gently pulling Liz’s chin to face her, “Do you think I’m pretty?” Suddenly Tess’ confident ambiance was shattered and there before Liz stood an insecure schoolgirl. “Do you?” Her voice shook with doubt.

“Of course I do Tess. You’re very beautiful.” Liz responded, her cheeks hot with embarrassment. Tess now had both her hands resting on Liz’s shoulders, calmly kneading her thumbs along Liz’s bare skin. “What are you doing?” Liz whispered, not moving, not even breathing.

“You look tense.” Tess shrugged and continued to rub Liz’s shoulders more firmly, “Why are you so tense Liz?” She asked inches from Liz’s mouth, her eyes traveled down Liz’s jaw to her exposed chest.

“Because…” Liz swallowed the lump in her throat. Her lungs screamed for air, but Liz refused to move one single vessel within her being until Tess backed away. She watched as Tess’ cobalt gems danced over her face, her neck, from her chest down to her toes. “Ummm…”

Tess moved in closer, her mouth just before Liz’s, “Yes?”

“Am I interrupting something?” Courtney stood at the door, arms folded neatly over her chest, “Cuz I could come back.” She eyed Tess with a fierce stare.

Liz flung away from Tess faster than light, “No. N-no, you’re not interrupting anything. Was she Tess?” Liz’s head shook vigorously, her words all jumbling together, tying her tongue into tight knots. Her stomach churned with uncertainty, completely upset that she had skipped dinner that night.

“Well then. Let’s go Duchess.” Courtney grinned, “Caddy’s waiting outside.”

Tess’ immediately glanced back and forth between the two girls, “You said you were going with me. Didn’t you Liz. Didn’t you say that you would go with me?” She shrieked on the verge of tears.

Liz looked to Courtney suddenly full of tenderness, “She’s right. I did say that. But I don’t see why we can’t all go together?” She tried to cheer the two girls up. “I know the boys wont mind.” She tried to reason.

Courtney snorted, “The boys. No. I’m sure the boys won’t mind a bit.” She snapped, “Since you know them so well why don’t you lead the way. Be my guest Elizabeth, lead.” She stepped aside for Liz to pass her out the doorway.

Confusion and doubt swam all through Liz’s mind, drowning her in self-pity. She really didn’t know what she did wrong to upset Courtney. She HAD in fact promised Tess long ago that she would attend the party on Friday with her. So why was Courtney so angry with her? Why was she acting like Liz was the leader?

Because you are Liz. A small voice whispered from the back of her mind, you are. And just like that, Liz's small spout within herself died down and her hard exterior pulled itself back up. "Let's ride ladies." She pulled both girls out of the school by their wrists.

Inside the dark truck that Sean was driving Liz sat in back uncomfortably between Craig and Tess. Tess stared outside at the passing scenery while Craig took no shame in staring directly at Liz. She tried to avoid his eyes but couldn't stop herself from turning and barking at him like a rabid dog.

"For Christ's sake Craig! What is it!" She yelped, causing Tess to flinch and Courtney's eyes to avert from Sean to stare back at her through the rearview mirror.

Craig was not fazed however, "You never called." He stated simply.

Liz shut her eyes and sighed, "I know. I'm sorry, I've been through some shit this past week." She rubbed her hands over her tired eyes, ignoring Tess' she's-messing-up-her-makeup! stare.

He wrapped an arm around her, "You okay?" He whispered in her ear sincerely.

She nod her head a little, "I'm good. Just tired I guess." She looked up at him and smiled. The instant connection between Liz and Craig both frightened and intrigued her at the same time. She knew she could spill herself bare in front of him and not have to worry about a drop of it leaking out to anyone else. She was safe with Craig, and she loved that feeling. A feeling she hadn't felt in a long, long time. Trust.

"Alright, holla back if you need me gurl. I told you I'm here." He winked and squeezed his arm that was still surrounding her small fragile body.

"Man I can't wait until Alex's Christmas party, its gonna be killer!" Sean bellowed from the front.

Craig and Courtney agreed, stating that it will be the single most important event of the season besides New Years. Liz caught herself before more memories flashed through her. She was sick of the reruns playing in her head. She busied herself with the passing scenery and the cute flirtatious behavior up front between Courtney and Sean, they really were a cute couple.

Pulling up to the long circling driveway Liz and Tess hoped out with the help of Craig. Liz stood before the giant house and smelt the wonderful scent of jasmine and vanilla in the air, she sniffed again happily.

Here she was, about to walk arm and arm with Craig, Courtney and Tess. It made her laugh watching Tess and Courtney subtly fight for a chance to walk in with her. It made her both flattered and suffocated, all at once. And in the end Craig solved things by raising her up into his toned arms and entering the party. Tess and company following close behind.

B2K's "Bump, Bump, Bump" was blasting overhead, and Liz noticed the small yet expensive speakers in every corner of the living room. Craig set her down gently and began his rounds around the house. Tess was immediately at Liz's side, pulling her into the kitchen -Courtney not to far behind with an annoyed Sean Deluca. Liz ignored the stares she received for her tasteful entrance with Craig. It wasn't everyday you saw a girl in his arms, even with the thousands who have tried. Some girls had no shame in glaring straight at Liz, and in return Liz stared right back. Just as spiteful, Tess had to shove her into the kitchen.

"Damn Liz, take a break for once." Tess shook her head concerned, "You're bound to get your ass kicked."

Courtney pushed pass two giggling girls to stand beside Liz at the counter, "Not while I'm around." She winked as she wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "C'mon, let's go greet the king." She led Liz out the kitchen and back into the loud music, never removing her arm -no matter how hard Tess tried. It amused Courtney to piss Tess off so easily.

"Stop. What's the password?" A huge jock type male blocked the door to the room they wished to pass through.

Courtney sighed, "That's real cute, really." She rolled her eyes annoyed. Pushing past him Liz smiled in welcome, receiving a grin in return.

"I like him." Liz whispered in Courtney's ear.

Courtney smirked, "You'll like a lot of them honey. Trust me." She laughed and pushed open the door to what looked like a huge library. "King Whitman! Look what I have brought! The Duchess herself!" Courtney bowed as she approached Alex, who was sitting with an expensive robe on in front of what looked to be his father's business desk.

"Aww yes! Milady Duchess! You came!" He raised his mug of beer high into the air, "Excuse me dahling but my Lady Duchess is here." He said to the blonde in his lap, and then shoved her away. She collapsed at his feet with a thud. "Come, sit." He opened his arms wide to Liz and patted his lap.

Liz laughed, "What is this all about?" She motioned all around, "Are these your royal subjects Sir Whitman?" She smiled as she stood in front of him.

He pulled her down into his lap, "Shh, they think I'm king. Don't ruin the fun Duchess!" He muttered in her ear. Sending giggles through Liz. "Why yes Miss Parker! I believe I will have a lap dance!" He said aloud for everyone to hear, the guys around started to hoot and clap.

"Very clever Whitman." Liz smirked, "But I do believe that I would break you off before you even had a chance to enjoy yourself." She slipped out of his grasp and went to Courtney, "Let's get a drink." She turned to wink at Alex and then left the room with Tess and Courtney.

Walking through the crowds of strangers and dancing bodies of half coherent teenagers Liz began to be overwhelmed from the excitement. It was just too much for her to take at once, she hadn't been in a room so packed since... since...

"Michael stop. What if someone see's us?" Liz giggled, pushing him away from her neck.

"So?" He went to kiss her again, "It's not like everyone doesn't know already anyways." He pulled her into his lap.

Liz gawked around to see whose attention they had. No one seemed to care that Liz Parker -The deceased Kyle Valenti's girlfriend was sitting in Michael Guerin -boyfriend to Liz's best friend Maria Valenti, Kyle's sister - lap. No one looked, no one cared for that matter, they all had their own affairs to worry about. As long as the Queen of Roswell was happy, they were happy.

"So, about that thing you were saying?" Michael wiggled his brows; "You say you can do WHAT with your tongue Miss Parker?" He grinned wickedly.

Liz returned his smirk, "Oh I have moves, you've never seen Mr. Guerin. But maybe... If you're a good boy that is, I can show you a taste of what I have..." She covered his lips with her own.

Never noticing that Maria Valenti had changed her mind that night, and decided she
would make an appearance at the party. NOW everyone's attention was Liz and Michael...

"Hey! You alright girl?" Courtney waved a hand in Liz's face.

Tess took over immediately, "She gets like this sometimes, you just gotta snap her out of whatever funk she's in. Hey! Parker!" Tess snapped her fingers in Liz's face, "Wake up! You-whooo!"

Liz jerked, "Uh, what? What are you doing?"

"Told ya." Tess nod triumphant to know one thing that dear Courtney Banks did NOT know about Liz Parker. "C'mon I'll take you to rinse your face off, you're totally blushing from this heat. Aye Court, does Whitman have an AC in here?" She asked, pulling Liz towards the rest rooms.

Courtney nodded, glancing at Liz with concern, "Yea I'll go switch it on, aye, she gonna be okay? She hasn't been puffing the magic dragon again has she?" Courtney remembered what had happened earlier.

Tess shrugged, "Who knows. C'mon Liz." She ushered her away.

“I’m fine.” Liz fought to free herself from Tess’ harsh grip.

Tess stood back shocked, “I was just-”

“I’m not a child Tess, don’t treat me like one.” Liz snapped.

Tess’ eyes flamed an icy blue, “You know what. Fine. Be a bitch then. Let’s see how far you get without me.” She sneered and spun on her heels.

And just like that the room began to shrink, the people began to crowd, the temperature began to rise, and she began to hyperventilate. She didn’t know a single face around her, and she had no clue how to get back to where Courtney was, let alone figure out how to get to Alex’s throne. The room spun, her vision blurred, she was having a panic attack and she knew it. She stumbled past strangers and pushed her way into the bathroom.

“Hey!” The people who had been in line snapped when she slammed the door shut behind herself, locking it tight.

The music thumped from the other side of the door where she was pressed against. She slid down to her feet and hugged her knees. It wasn’t normal for girls to act this way at parties. She knew right then that she wasn’t ready for this, would she ever be? What had Dr. Collins told her last week before she boarded that plane?

“I know your parents think this is best, but Liz… I don’t think you’re ready to be out on your own just yet. So just promise me… No parties or crowded rooms. Okay?” She patted Liz’s cheek.

“I promise.” Liz smiled.

She had lied of course. She thought the anxiety attacks, the panics the loss of breath was gone. Left behind with the rest of her past. So it was true, your past really could come back to haunt you. She stood up and splashed cold water across her face; lathering soap in her hands and cleaning her face clear of makeup. She wasn’t ready for this kind of crowd yet, how sad. She thought. She was so sure she had gotten over the nervous feeling she would get when mixed with large crowds.

”Hey! Parker! How’s it going!” Cindy Ontario waved as Liz walked in the live house of dancing bodies.

“Liz!”

“Hey Liz!”

“Parker!”

“Parker’s here!” The crowd cheered.

She waved, she smiled, she blushed, she did everything they expected. Everything they wanted her to do. She never denied them that, she stood pretty, she kept things alive, she was there when things got rowdy.

“Anyone seen my bonehead boyfriend?” She laughed.

“He’s chugging in the backyard. You better watch him Liz, take his keys. I mean it.” Pam Troy approached Liz with sympathy. “Doug’s acting the same way so I think we should carpool after this. Cool?”

Liz nodded her head, “Yea. I’ll meet you by Michael’s truck when you’re ready.” She moved on down the hall to the back porch. She stood watching Michael Guerin and Doug Shellow drink from the hand made beer bong. Kyle used to… She shook her head. Kyle’s not here anymore Liz, REMEMBER?

“Hey.” Maria said from behind Liz.

She spun around surprised, “Maria!” She squealed shocked. Maria was drunk, Liz knew the second she looked in her eyes, “You’re not driving are you?” Liz asked concerned.

“Like you care.” Maria snorted, pushing past her to get outside.

“Maria!” Liz pulled her back, “Of course I care!”

“Like HELL you care!” Maria screamed, angry hot tears pouring from her eyes, “Like you CARED when you stole Michael from me!”

Liz stepped back shaking her head, “I didn’t mean—“

“You NEVER mean to Liz. You come, you take, you conquer; you’re a taker Liz… It doesn’t matter how anyone else feels, as long as you get what you want.” She took a step towards Liz.

Liz backed up again, “Maria I…” She had nothing to say, she had stolen Michael… Hadn’t she? It didn’t matter that he was the one to first approach her, to first take the leap and kiss her while she was still with Kyle. When Kyle was still alive…

“What’s going on here?” Pam was suddenly at Liz’s side, “You okay Valenti?”

Maria wiped her face, “I’m FINE.” She spat, “I’m fine…” She stared into Liz’s eyes, “Go to hell Liz… Go to hell.” She stalked off.

“What happen? Was that Maria I just saw?” Michael’s slurred words rang through Liz’s ears. She turned around to face him, her eyes splashing tears down her face. Michael’s face sobered for a moment, anger in his eyes “What did she say? I’ll—“

“You won’t do shit Guerin.” Liz snapped, “I’m leaving. And so are you.” She pulled him by the collar out to his truck.

She splashed more cool water across her face and took a deep choking breath, her heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to calm her nerves. Without thinking or caring about modesty she ripped open the mirror cabinet to see if there was any aspirin and if she was lucky, possibly volume.

Searching she found two empty bottles of vikadin and no aspirin. Great. Just great. Now she had a splitting headache and nothing to help ease the pain. Slamming the cabinet back shut she gazed back at her disoriented reflection. Who the hell was she? What happen to Liz Parker?

“Wipe that shit off your face, you look like a clown.” Michael snapped.

Liz slapped open the passenger side visor to check her reflection, she was a mess. Her mascara had run black lines all down her cheeks and her eyes were two black holes. She looked dead. She
felt dead.

“Hey Liz, if you wanna crash at my place it’s completely fine. My mom misses you anyhow.” Pam offered politely from the backseat where her boyfriend Doug was passed out across her lap, “After we rid of the corpse of course.” She winked.

Liz smiled, despite her horrible mood, “I’d like that.” She replied.

“Too bad cuz you’re not.” Michael said, “After we take Doug and Pam home your ass is coming home with me. End of story.” His face was plain, emotionless. Yet she could tell he was deep within thought.

“Geez Michael, since when did you become the possessive boyfriend?” Pam joked.

Michael glared back at her from the rearview mirror, “I’d shut my mouth if I were you Pam.” He muttered.

She rolled her eyes and slumped back in her seat, rifling Doug back awake, “Asshole.” She mumbled.

“Hey…” Doug’s slurred words broke the tension, “What the hell man?” he looked around, “I thought we were at a party!” He burped than passed back out.

Liz stared at her window and watched the streetlights pass by one by one. She looked at the passing houses, imagining the people tucked into bed. Peacefully dreaming of their pointlessness fantasies. But for once, just
once she would love to dream of hope and desire, of a delusional fantasy, because frankly anything was better than reliving the night Kyle died over and over like a broken record…

“Hello! Some people want to use the rest room!” Someone banged on the door viciously.

Liz was jolted back into reality. She stared at her reflection, shaking with worry, what would they think of her when she walked out the room? Would they never want to see her again? Would they pass around fictional stories about what she was doing in there? Would they think…

“Today!” The person pounded harder.

Liz’s anger boiled to the top, she lunged at the door and swung it open, causing her pest to plummet to the floor. “You were saying?” Liz smiled down at the girl at her feet, “Didn’t know you needed it that bad sweetie.” She sauntered past the small group she had summoned.

Liz ignored the shrieks of the female who was hell bent on getting Liz back for what had just happen. She ignored the shoulder pats when some came to congratulate her; she tried to just keep a straight face. Her insides rumbled in paranoia, she desperately longed for a release, a drink, a smoke, a pill… anything. Her pace quickened as she tried to make her way outside without screaming. She could bet that Alex was breaking about 60 health code regulations by having so many people bunched up in the house like that.

“Watch it!” Someone yelped as Liz shoved people out of her way. Not one name or cheap shot would stop her from getting out of the house. Her head pounded each beat the music boomed with bass. Her ears were ringing, she couldn’t stand to be in the house another second, she began to almost run out the house. She swerved around a corner and collided with a heavy body.

“Shit!” She cursed as she hit the floor with her bottom.

“Wow, you okay?” Her brick wall spoke.

She glared at him from the floor, “I’m on the ground, what do YOU think?” She spat spiteful. “Are you even going to help me up?”

He squinted at her, “I know you.” He said reaching out to help her up.

She brushed herself off, “I can assure you most gratefully that we have not met.” She growled and tried to walk past him.

“Must have been in another life.” He shrugged, blocking her path.

Liz scowled, “Must have been.” She replied with fake enthusiasm.

“Hey you wanna chill with me over here?” He guided her towards the back room, “We got some mad hot sessions going on back there.” He rubbed his hand along her back, “C’mon.”

She shook her head, “No. Thanks.” She tried to walk in the opposite direction. She bet that what she already had in her pocket was better anyways.

“Come on baby, have a little fun. I swear you’ll thank me. Come on.” He pulled her closer.

“Ummm... Let me think. No.” She shoved him away, “God! Do you know what NO means?” She snapped.

“There a problem here?” Someone said from behind Liz, “What you doing Franco? Harassing the women again?” Franco left without another word.

Liz spun around, and was confronted by Sean, “Sean!” She yelped.

“Looked like you needed some help, and he’s hard to get rid of. So how you like the party?” Sean wrapped a casual arm across her shoulders, “Courtney’s been shittin’ her pants asking about you. You better make an appearance in the Kings chamber stat.” He pointed towards the room she had been in with Alex.

“Thanks.” Liz smirked and walked towards the room. Alex was drunk, that was a clear fact. But she wasn’t prepared to see a drunk Tess Harding, and she especially was not prepared for what was coming up next.

“Liz!” Alex and Tess cheered and then looked at each other to laugh.

Liz walked over to Tess who was perched with her legs seductively crossed on the desk before Alex, “You okay?” She asked worried and looked around for Courtney without any luck.

“I’m fine! Hey! Watch this!” Tess gulped down a whole bottle of beer than belched, “Whooo! Yea!” She howled, followed by the rest of the room. “So where you been? I was looking for you then I found these guys and now I can’t remember how we even got here.” She burst out laughing.

Alex stood up, “The king must piss!” He announced walking out and causing the crowd to go wild. Liz was ready to go back to her dorm. NOW. This scene was bringing back many unwanted memories.

Liz searched the room for signs of Courtney and again she was disappointed, “Tess. We’re leaving. C’mon.” She grabbed for Tess’ wrist.

Tess snatched her wrist back, “I’m not ready to go yet. Just because YOU are doesn’t mean I am.” She snapped angrily.

“Tess you’re trashed. Lets go. NOW.” Liz hissed and reached for Tess’ hand.

Tess whirled around with fire in her eyes, “I said I’m not ready to leave.” She replied with pure poison, “When I’m ready, you will know.” She left the room, a hurried sway in her hips. Completely stunning Liz, two minutes ago Tess could barely stand, yet just then she walked away with complete ease. Liz was two seconds from putting that girl to a reality check, on the real.

Fed up with the loud noises, crowded area and the complete lack of respect, Liz gathered her things and quickly made her way to the front door. She didn’t care how she made it back to Winnaman, as long as she didn’t have to spend one more second in that house full of flashbacks and déjà vu.

However, now she was floating up a shit creek without a damn paddle. How the hell was she going to get form point A (Alex’s house) to point B (Her dorm more than twenty miles away). She could always flirt up some random guy and get him to take her home, but all the guys in the house were morons and way past drunk. She started to wish she never met Courtney and her posse of drunken teenage delinquents. Gathering her whit’s she made her way to the front door, determined to not let anyone or anything stop her from her destination.

She spotted Craig flirting with an equally attractive brunette and avoided being in his sight. She wouldn’t dare interrupt his little game session, she could find some other way to get home. Like, her two feet, she took a glance down at her shoes and realized it was easier said than done. No way would she survive 20 miles in her stiletto heeled Gucci leathers. Besides, she would rather walk barefoot than scuff up the imported straight from Paris heels.

She didn’t need to worry much, because Craig caught sight of her anyhow.

“Duchess!” He howled over the rising music, “Hey!” He waved his hands about. She of course ignored him and walked forward. “Liz!” He was now pushing past people to get to her. “Hey I was calling you girl.”

“You were busy with the exotic bohemian, I didn’t want to intrude.” She shrugged and trudged on.

Craig grimaced, “Please, Gerad’s like a cheap bottle of wine. Package is pretty but the quality is complete shit.” Craig opened the door for Liz, “Exiting the palace huh? How the hell did you expect to get home Duchess?” He teased.

Liz looked up at him and smirked, “I have my ways.”

TO POOKIE!!!

PART 8

Psssst… Pssssst! Liz!” A wad of crunched lined paper hit the top of Elizabeth Parker’s head. “Liz!” The whisper taunted louder.

Frustration getting the best of her Liz spun around towards the voice, “What!?” She hissed.

“Geezus, what crawled up your ass Liz?” Tess grimaced.

“Nothing,” She snapped, “I’m sorry if I’m not as well rested as you are, taking in as a fact that I was up all fucking night waiting for your ass to come back to the dorms…” Liz growled fiercely. Tess shut her mouth and leaned back into her seat.

It had taken two days after Alex’s lodge party for Tess to return back home, and Liz had gone crazy trying to find her. Than late the night before she had strolled into bed, as if nothing had happen at all. Looking lost and delirious, dazed in her wrinkled Felipe threads and loose Prada’s.

“So where were you?” Liz asked as if she didn’t care, although inside she was bursting with curiosity.

Tess looked her up and down with newfound interest, “Wouldn’t you like to know. Look at you, you’re about to wet your Vickie’s in anticipation.” She smirked.

Liz straightened up offended, “I could care less who you were hoeing around with this time Tess.” She rolled her eyes and turned back to the front of the class.

Tess sighed, “Like you care anyways, you made it perfectly clear at the party that you can do without me.” She shot, and then she took out her compact and began to apply her signature gloss to her full pouty lips.

“Excuse me?” Liz spun around, “I wasn’t the one telling me to take a hike, I don’t even know why you bothered, we all know Alex has NO interest in you what so ever.” Liz shot back spiteful.

Tess’ blue eyes blazed with fire, a trait she seemed to be very good at, “Look who’s talking, trying to hook up with Craig even when it’s quite apparent that you have a snow ball’s chance in hell of getting him to stir your way or any other way…” She snapped her compact shut sharply.

Liz’s anger began to bubble, “What’s your deal Tess?” She shouted, getting the attention of the class.

“My deal miss perfect Parker, is YOU!” Tess shouted loud enough o draw the entire classes attention, as well as the teacher of course.

“Mme le Parker, Mme Harding, il y a n'importe quoi vous aimeriez partager avec la classe?” Ms. Dubai snapped, her palm slapping down hard on her desk.

“No Ms. Dubai…” Both girls mumbled, not caring to share their quarrel with the rest of the class, than again with the scene Tess had just put on Liz doubted they couldn’t just put two and two together.

“En français les dames!” Their teacher demanded.

“Rien la Madame…” They repeated in French.

“Take a pill Harding, geezus.” Liz’s partner, Stephanie, replied as she gathered her things, the bell ringing and ending all conversations as well as class.

“Did it look like this was any of your damn business Edwards?” Tess snapped, “If I were you I’d shut the hell up before someone slips and says something you might not like…” She let her unsaid words pollute the air around them.

Stephanie, her lips pressed into a thin line, stormed out the classroom with venom in her dark brown eyes. Liz brushed pass Tess in anger and stalked over to her locker. Throwing her books inside and slamming it shut she spun around to get to third when blonde was her vision.

“I thought I told you to stay out of my way Parker.” Isabel spat her name out like a bad taste. She smoothed her blazer down her front and sighed, “Move!” She tried to shove Liz away.

Liz snatched Isabel by her wrist, “Don’t touch me, unless you want me to break that pretty little neck of yours Isabel.” Liz shot back just as spiteful, “And I believe it was you in my way… Bitch.” Liz added and sneered, she walked off to Bio without a second thought or glance back at the dumbfounded Isabel Evans.

Liz hadn’t even warmed her seat when the loud clang of heels was heard on the linoleum hall floors of Winnaman Academy, “Holy shit man! Do you have ANY idea how long I have been looking for you!?” Courtney stormed into the classroom, heading straight for Liz, “Why didn’t you hook back up with us at the party? Where did you go? How did you get back? My god you could have been kidnapped!” She shouted, worry written all over her face with the livid imagination of the possibilities that could-have-been.

Liz just started back at Courtney, “Okay. Breathe… in… out… You okay there? You need a paper bag to heave in?” Liz shook her head from side to side, “Craig took me home, and you haven’t tried to check my room since then so… why are you so anal?”

Courtney rubbed her face, “I hate when you get like this.” She sighed.

Liz blanched, “Like what?”

“Like that, you get all defensive when people are just trying to see if you’re okay. It’s annoying as hell.” Courtney snapped.

Liz refused to back down, “Well than maybe people should just leave me alone then.”

“Gah! See what I mean!” Courtney’s face was livid, “I don’t want to fight with you Liz! I was just worried!”

Liz wasn’t sure whether to tell the girl in front of her to shove her emotions up her ass or to find a new pet to care for. But before she could make any decisions, she stood up and exited class before they even had a chance to start a fight.

“Where are you going now? Liz!” Courtney called after her, but it only caused Liz to walk faster.

Her heels sent echo’s throughout the halls as she continued to put as much distance between her and Courtney. She flew down the stairs with ease and passed the offices without being seen.

She had two choices, actually three if you counted going back to class. But then again that just wasn’t an option she was willing to take. Her hand immediately went to the tightly packed joint in her pocket, it was her last one before she would call her dealer for another dose. Would she call him for another one? That was the 64,000 dollar question now wasn’t it.

Her other, and last, choice was to just walk it off. Walk off the foul mood she had woken up to, try and push aside her bitch behavior and buckle up. She had to be nice to people, they had been nothing but nice to her. All except that bitch Isabel, what was her problem anyways? Liz had no intention on stealing her spotlight, she couldn’t help it if she was more interesting than the supermodel clone. She didn’t even want the attention she was receiving.

Sighing, Liz stepped out the hall and went to walk in the outskirts of the school grounds. Maybe she would find that tree and light up like she had the last time. As appealing as it sounded she had a deep feeling in her gut to turn around and go back to class. It was one of those nagging feelings, the kind that wouldn’t go away. It nipped at her brain and tugged at her senses. Her skin prickled in anxiety. She ignored it. She always ignored her intuitions.

She was half way to her destination point when she saw it, at first she swore she was dreaming. Had she smoked her stash and not known it? It had happen before, one minute she was la-de-da, the next she was stoned and high as a kite. No, it was real. She walked up closer, being careful not to be seen.

“Oh my god!” She gasped.

Pressed up against her sacred dope tree was Isabel Evans, moaning in ecstasy as-

“Oh my god!” She shrieked. She spun around to flee the scene, wishing she had never stepped foot outside Mr. Lacrosse’s class that day. She couldn’t believe her eyes, she didn’t WANT to believe what she had just witnessed. Firmly locked together, naked and sweating was Isabel Evans and…

Sean Deluca.

“Shit!” Liz cursed, “Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!” She stomped around the grass, crushing flowers in her path. She kicked at the ground, she hated what she saw. She hated Isabel, she hated Sean. But most of all… she hated herself. She had no intention of telling Courtney what she had just witnessed; she didn’t want to be the cause of a war between two powerful girls. She didn’t dare lay everyone’s shit bare, be the cause of destruction, and heartache. But she couldn’t just fucking let this happen! Not to Courtney, not to the only one who deserved her respect, as well as her friendship.

Liz stormed back over to the scene of the crime, just in time to hear Isabel cry out, and Sean to roar his final blow. Liz was completely and utterly disgusted, not to mention royally pissed off. But just as she was about to scream, to shout and beat the shit out of Isabel… She had a better idea. In the heat of passion they must have ripped their clothes off before they even made it to the tree, because right before Liz, was revenge.

Scooping up everything from Isabel’s blue blazer to Sean’s green boxers –hmm, she pegged him a brief guy– Liz walked off to throw them in the lake that ended the school grounds property.

She stepped up to the bridge overlooking the drop off of the lake to the river, and flung Isabel’s clothes in first. Laughing as she did so she danced around in Sean’s uniform before it too met its final fate. Exhausted from her dance, she flopped down to her knees, than sat back and gazed into the flowing currents that took her assailants clothes away. Unbelievable, she still didn’t know if she would tell Courtney yet, she didn’t want to be the one to break her heart.

“What a loser.” She said aloud, thinking of Sean. She thought he loved her, she really, truly thought so. When he would look at Courtney, you could feel it, feel his love. What a bunch of bullshit that was!

“Who’s a loser?” Someone said from behind her.

“Ahhh!” She spun around her legs were dangling over the bridge, but the sudden movement caused her to lose her balance. She slipped off the walkway and screamed in fright. Her hands thrashed about before she hit the ice cold stream. It cut through her like a thousand knives digging, the sudden loss of body temperature was a complete shock and her muscles tightened into knots, she screamed again. Panic erupted through her, she could swim, she knew she could –so how come she couldn’t move?!

“Hold on!” She heard someone yell, than a loud splash. She prayed they would reach her in time, her limbs were already frozen stiff, she was dead weight waiting to sink. Her head went under, she heard the roaring river in her ears. It would really suck if she died before she could blackmail Isabel with her newfound knowledge.

Than, just like that, as if god above heard her pleas, she was lifted above water, her lungs gasped for air and she was alive. She felt strong arms around her middle; she hadn’t noticed that until she was being pulled to shore. Had she not been shaking like hell she would have looked back at her rescuer. As it was, she couldn’t even keep her teeth from chattering.

“Oh shit, I swear I didn’t mean to startle you. Oh man, are you okay?” Her rescuer loomed over her body, checking her for wounds. “Oh god, you’re not gonna die are you?”

She laughed, “I’m about to freeze to death, so yes. I’m gonna die.” She rolled her eyes. She was frozen, she knew she had to get rid of her clothes or she would get hypothermia. She read that somewhere, but she had no intention on stripping in front of this guy, rescuer or not.

“That’s not funny.” He scowled, “Hey…” He looked at her closely, making her uncomfortable, “I know you!” His eyes widened, “Man it’s like Rescue 9-1-1 with you, I’m always saving your ass.” He snorted.

She shook with chills, “If you don’t mind, I’d like to get warm before frostbite kicks in.” She snapped.

“Damn I didn’t even get a thank you.” He scooped her up in his arms, “I’m Max by the way.” He smiled.

>*<

She sipped from the mug Max had given her, hot chocolate coated her throat, warming her body. She sat shivering in a pair Max’s sweats as she cuddled in his bed seeking warmth. He sat at the end of the bed, staring at her with concern. She didn’t know whether to be thankful or pissed at him. He wouldn’t stop apologizing anyway, so she guessed pissed was the best thing.

Her clothes were currently being dried in the washroom a few doors down so Liz had no choice but to sit tight and be polite. Which in her case was like sticking needles underneath her fingernails. It was excruciating.

“I can’t get a hold of Courtney so you’ll have to stay here until school gets out.” He played with the ends of the comforter.

She kicked at him, “Stop, you’re pulling them off me.” She said pulling the blanket back and cuddling further, “Man your beds are way more comfortable than ours.” She griped, closing her eyes to rest. Than she surprised both him and herself, “Get in.”

“Wha?” He asked shocked, uncertain of what he heard.

She opened up the blanket, “Coooome on ‘lil fella, c’mon...” She motioned him over like a puppy and grinned. He laughed heartedly, a deep throaty laugh that sent chills up her spine, only this time they were good chills. “Seriously, you must be freezing too, you jumped in willingly. Spoon me, we’ll warm each other.”

He looked skeptical, “You sure?”

“Would I be lying here with my arm out if I wasn’t?” Her brow rose, “Unless you don’t want-”

“I do!” He rushed over and snuggled in, his arms immediately encircling her waist. She tensed for a second, than relaxed, feeling warm, feeling comfortable… Feeling safe. “If someone would have told me this morning that I’d be lying in bed with a beautiful girl I’d have laughed my ass off.” He breathed in her ear.

She cuddled closer, her hands hugging his arms around her, “MmmHmm…” She nod, exhaustion sneaking in close, slumber about to take her away. She fell asleep with the last feeling of his lips close to her skin, his breath against her neck…

“I love you Liz.” Kyle pulled her closer to him, “I always will.”

She smiled, she had never felt so loved as she had at that exact moment and time. They had made love in his bed, than they had fed each other fruits and cookies. It was their 2 year anniversary, and they had skipped school to spend the whole day together.

“Why are you so good to me?” She smiled.

He shrugged, “Dunno, I guess you’re just lucky.” He teased.

She laughed, “When does your dad get home?” She stood up from the bed, bare and beautiful. Kyle shrugged again, laying back to admire her beauty, “You better stop that.” She grinned.

“Or what?” Kyle challenged.

“You are so bad.” She grinned, “I might just have to go over there…” She took a step towards the bed.

“You just might.” Kyle’s smile grew as he pulled her down onto the bed with him.

“Mmm, Kyle Liz moaned, searching his mouth with hers, pulling him closer to her body, taking in all his warmth. She missed him so much, so much it hurt to breathe, speak, think. Then suddenly Kyle pushed her away, gently, but it still hurt her feelings none the less. “What is it?” She asked, opening her eyes to see his face.

It wasn’t his face.

“Jesus!” Liz jumped up, “What the hell are you doing in my room?! Get off me your pervert!” She shoved her intruder away.

“Relax! Liz! It’s me, Max?” He dodged a flying pillow. “And for the record, I was asleep until you started putting the moves on me.” He said truthfully, “I’ve never felt so violated…” He pretended to cry.

Liz rolled her eyes and stood up, “You’re an asshole.” She went for the door.

“Okay, okay. Wait,” He took her wrist in his hands gently, “Who’s Kyle?” He asked.

Her heart stopped. “What?”

“Kyle. You kept saying his name, just wondering you know, since my name’s NOT Kyle and all.” He shrugged, letting go of her hand reluctantly.

“No one. Mind your business and keep your hands off me.” She snapped.

Max whistled, “Claws are out and ready to fight, why are you always so… Defensive?”

Liz crossed her arms over her chest, “That’s not the word you were going to say.”

Max chuckled, “No. It wasn’t.”

“Say it. Say the word you were going to say.” She stood defiant before him.

He shook his head, “No.” He turned to go back to the bed.

“Say it!” She shouted, “Damn you! Just say the fucking word, you were going to call me a bitch. Just SAY it!” She shoved him, causing him to tumble over onto the bed and roll onto the floor. “Oh!” Liz’s hands immediately flew to cover her mouth in shock.

Max sat up from the floor, a sock stuck to his head, “Now that wasn’t very nice.” He said. He was so calm, so neutral, it freaked Liz out. She was used to screaming and yelling, she was used to confrontations and shoving, she was used to… Michael.

“You’re not mad?” She whispered, suddenly very vulnerable to Max.

He looked up at her, “I guess I should be huh?” He replied more to himself than to Liz, “Awe well!” He jumped to his feet, “So you gonna explain what you were doing throwing clothes into the River?”

Liz blinked several times, trying to understand what was going on. Surely Max should be furious with her, she would have been pissed. Liz knew for a fact she wasn’t one to be pleasant company, hell, she could barely stand the sound of her own voice.

She shivered, still cold from her afternoon swim, “Two people needed to be taught a lesson.” She shrugged, hugging herself.

Max flopped onto his bed and leaned back against the headboard, “Two people needed to be taught a lesson she says.” He repeated her statement, “Well. I guess that explains that. Care to elaborate? We’ve got,” He looked down at his watch, “Twenty more minutes until I call in reinforcements to come swoop you up.” His eyes were kind, they made Liz want to be his everything. Why couldn’t Michael be like this guy? Nice, calm, collected. Instead he was cold, bitter and bossy.

The sudden thought of Michael made her stomach turn. She loved him, right? But if she loved him so much, why did it make her sick to her stomach to just think about him? People in love didn’t think like that.

“You okay over there? You’re looking a little green. Oh great, you’re not gonna go exorcist on me and spew all over are you?” He jumped up to grab a trashcan, “Over here, here, here…” He motioned her over like a dog, “In here…” Her pointed, “Puke. Here.”

She scowled at him, “I’m not a dog you know. I comprehend, which is more than I can say for you.” Her cold exterior self came back full strong. Her slight moment of weakness was over, done. “I want to get the hell out of here and away from you.”

He clutched his heart, “Harsh words, but you know. It’s no picnic being around you either. You blow hot and cold faster than a woman with menopause.” He said slightly miffed.

This was more like it. Anger she could handle, kindness, she could not.

“And what about you?” She yelped.

He looked shocked, “What about me?”

“You always just appear out of thin air whenever I need help, oh so conveniently. Only its NOT coincidence is it? You’re following me!”

“Am not!”

“Are too!”

“Am not!”

“You are too!”

“I am not! Yea, like I’m following around a complete stranger. Oh yeay look at me, I’m following around a girl who lives for trouble!” He snapped.

Liz’s anger boiled, “I wouldn’t always BE in trouble if it weren’t for you!” She stepped up closer to him.

He stepped closer also, “NO. You wouldn’t, you’d be DEAD! If it weren’t for me-“

“I would have NEVER fallen into that water if it. Weren’t. For. You!” She poked his chest with each word. “You repulse me, you’re vile, vapor. Get out of my way I’m getting my clothes and I’m getting the HELL outta here!” She shoved past him.

He wavered but didn’t tumble, “You know what your problem is?” He said blocking the door, “You don’t know how to say thank you. You don’t know how to be nice, you don’t know shit from watching the clerks at the mall slide that piece of plastic through the casher!”

“Excuse you!?”

“NO, excuse YOU. I’m sorry if we keep meeting at awkward times and I might even say its my fault you fell in, but I will NOT be sorry for meeting you at all.” He sighed, exhausted from yelling.

Liz stood still, silent. Unable to react to his words. So she did what she did best, “Yea, well that’s where we differ. I am.” She blew him off. “Have a nice life Max.” She pushed him to the side and vacated the building.

She got halfway down the hall when she bumped into trouble, worse, Sean. Wearing nothing but a jacket around his waist.

“YOU!” She barked.

“And you!” He laughed, “What are you doing over on the dark side? Leaving lover boy’s room, wearing his threads, why Miss Parker, I do believe you’ve snagged yourself a fish.”

She scowled, “And I do believe you’ve lost yourself a girlfriend.” She grinned spiteful.

“Huh?” Sean asked confused.

“I saw you.” She said, her mouth tight with each word.

His eyes widened, “W-what? What are you talking about?” He stuttered.

“Liz wait you- Sean?” Max came running from his room.

Liz ignored the unwanted company, “I saw you. And if you think you can get away with it you’re wrong. Have a nice time walking back naked?” She pulled on his jacket, “Cuz I had one hell of a time throwing your clothes in the river.”

“It was YOU who took our clothes!” Sean’s eyes got wider, if possible. “What did you think you were doing? WHO do you think you are?” He jerked forward by her arm, his hand tightening with every word.

“Let go of me!” She tried to wrench her arm free of him. “You’re hurting me!”

“Sean!” Max’s voice roared with thunder.

Sean immediately let her arm free, never once looking down to Liz he said, “Get you’re little bitch a collar Max, or I’m calling the pound.” He stalked past them down the hall to his room, slamming the door shut behind him.

Liz rubbed her arm, “Asshole!” She shouted, than she started for his door.

“Whoa, whoa. There now. I don’t think you want to be messing with that boy right now.” His hands pulled her back, sliding around her waist, “What did you say to blow his temper?”

She pulled free of him, “You’re Courtney’s best friend right?”

He seemed worried, “Yea, why? Did he hurt her? I’ll kill him!” It was Liz who pulled him back this time.

“No. Not physically at least.” She muttered. “Keep him away from Courtney, or I will.”

“What does that mean? What are you talking about? You don’t know us, you can’t just waltz into town and start telling people what to do.” Max was suddenly very defensive.

It didn’t faze Liz one bit, “I can do whatever the hell I want Max. Because I’m Liz fucking Parker.” She spun around on her heels to leave. “Do what I said, I don’t bluff.” She called over her shoulder. She had to get some answers before she called in the dogs. She knew Craig and Max would be on Sean’s ass if she opened her mouth.

As much as she wanted it, she had to figure out how the hell to tell Courtney first.
